CLEVELAND—The Telos Alliance has updated its Telos Infinity IP Intercom software to the latest version, v1.6. Included in v1.6 are updates to Telos Infinity Dashboard Advanced and software for the Infinity Panels and Beltpack.

With the update, Dashboard Advance users can now save instant “Snapshots” of system configurations, edit them offline and push them to the “Live” Infinity network. Different setups for shows and events can be created and stored with the new “Scenes” feature. When used with the Zones menu, users can take Scene snapshots from Infinity subsystem, then edit and recall them without disturbing the wider Infinity system.

Another new feature is the ISO Key Mode, which enables a user to establish a private communications channel with each camera position by temporarily removing them from any Group comms while an ISO call is happening.

Users can also now take complete control over a panel or device by accessing it through the Panel or Beltpack web menu pages or through Device/Manage in Telos Infinity Dashboard Advance software.

In addition, Dashboard Advance now allows a user to load new Panel or Beltpack firmware into the UI and send a targeted update to multiple devices simultaneously. Dashboard also can report the status of any Panel or Beltpack on the network that is running an out-of-date or incompatible firmware version.

For more information, visit www.telosalliance.com/Infinity.

Infinity Link is the latest addition to the Telos Infinity™ IP Intercom platform, the communications solution that does away with outdated and cumbersome matrix-based technology and puts communication and contribution audio together on an IP backbone. Infinity Link maintains the matrix-free advantage of Telos Infinity but adds the ability to extend connectivity beyond the boundaries of AoIP using VoIP.

“VoIP technology in a broadcast Intercom system isn't new, but the way that Infinity Link encompasses VoIP as part of an entirely matrix-free AoIP solution is unique,” states Martin Dyster, Telos Infinity Project Director. “With a simple license key, each Telos Infinity device, whether a Beltpack, a Master Panel, or Expansion Panel, can host a group of Infinity Link codecs. This enables any IP audio path within its own network to connect across WAN to a Link-equipped codec at any remote location, bridging the local system to the outside world via its own embedded processing engine.”

Telos Infinity Link is an OPUS codec-based software product available as a series of software licenses that can be added to any host Infinity Panel or Beltpack hardware, unlocking two (Beltpack only), four, or eight embedded codecs that convert WAN-side VoIP to LAN-side Livewire+ AES67™. A dedicated 1RU hardware Gateway device is also available, supplied with dual AC power and dual gigabit Ethernet connections, supporting either 8 or 16 embedded codecs.

The OPUS codec is a totally open, royalty-free, highly versatile audio codec. This codec—with manually and auto-adjustable bitrates optimized for use in voice communications—is unmatched for interactive speech and music transmission over the Internet, but is also intended for storage and streaming applications.

Each codec send/receive pair can be connected to an associated pair at a remote location. The resultant Livewire+ AES67 Sources and Destinations appear within the Infinity Dashboard Input/Output lists in the same form as any other connected AES67 stream and can be used for point-to-point communication within an IFB, a Group, or a Partyline.

Infinity Link is a competitive and flexible solution that allows the user to turn a standard Infinity Panel or Beltpack into a VoIP utility without compromising its use as a communications device.

Contact Krissy Rushing, Marketing Manager, for booth appointments, interviews, or other media requirements at krissy.rushing@telosalliance.com.

About The Telos Alliance
The Telos Alliance is a global leader in audio, trusted by the biggest names in the media landscape. Grammy and Emmy award-winning Director of New York Digital Danny Littwin worked closely with Globosat's lead engineer, Fabio Costa de Almeida, to specify the Telos Infinity matrix-free IP intercom system as the principal interface between various and disparate systems, pulling together communication sources from across the entire event into the Infinity ecosystem.

Matrix-Free Design Streamlines Production

Danny chose Infinity for its matrix-free design, giving the event’s producers more flexibility to add expansion panels easily and on the fly while taking up less space in the truck.

“It was necessary to have something that would take up very little physical space and be able to be controlled remotely and changed instantaneously,” says Danny. “While matrix technology does let you make changes remotely, the fact is that you have to have a lot of physical space for its rack, plus all the peripherals. In the case of Infinity, we had only one rack unit worth of equipment, including a half-rack Axia xSwitch and a half-rack Telos Alliance Mixed Signal xNode. This was the only equipment that needed to stay in the van, everything else was remoted to other places.”

The Infinity system was set up with Partylines for both Lollapalooza’s on-air directors and producers, allowing them to communicate clearly and instantaneously with any one of the event’s stages. “Even in 120-degree heat inside the truck, there were absolutely no difficulties in communication, which speaks to the resiliency of the Infinity equipment,” says Danny.

Zero Learning Curve

Because Danny had to leave the concert for several days to attend the NAB Show, it was important that he be able to set up the system easily, then teach the chief and communications engineers how to use it quickly, trusting that they would be able to operate it in his absence. “I was able to teach them how to launch the Infinity Dashboard software, how to manipulate the system, and turn it on and off so they could use it without me being there,” says Danny.

In fact, one of the most common questions that arose as Danny was teaching the crew how to use the Infinity system was “How do I add an expansion panel?”

His answer: “You simply take a cable, plug it into the switch, plug it into the head, allow a few seconds for the new piece of equipment to be recognized, and you’re ready to go,” he says. “No need to add a card or expansion slot. To which they replied ‘That’s it? That’s easy!’ They were delighted.”

Labeling Saves the Day

Small details like how Infinity panels are labeled, proved to be lifesavers for the team. “The color-coded switches are great because you can color the panels by groups,” says Danny. “We had a group for Director, Lighting, Stage, and Production, all with different colors. Additionally, the text labeling was very easy to read. We had two people with the name Rodrigo, and we never got them confused. Labeling is extremely important because the people using the system may not have a lot of technical aptitude and they need to make snap decisions and push buttons very quickly. You can program the buttons all from the Dashboard GUI, too, so it’s easy.”

Will he use the Infinity IP intercom system again?

“Absolutely, the fact is, installation is minimal. Being all IP-based, it’s very plug-and-play with none of the problems associated with matrix systems. That’s a very big plus!”

Learn more about the advantages of Telos Infinity IP Intercom here

Download Photos of the Lollapalooza Event Here

Contact krissy.rushing@telosalliance.com for more info.

About The Telos Alliance
The Telos Alliance is a global leader in audio, trusted by the biggest names in the media landscape. As IP workflows have become standard in the pro AV industry, the Telos Alliance—with its long history in the development of IP audio and reputation as globally recognized audio experts—is uniquely positioned to deliver solutions that address this market's needs, including communications and mixing built on an IP backbone," saysJohn Schur, President of the Telos Alliance TV Solutions Group.

Communications Solutions Built on IP

Telos Alliance invented AoIP for the broadcast market, but the utility of its award-winning Infinity matrix-free IP intercom extends beyond market borders into the Pro AV space, with applications for House of Worship, Esports, Corporate AV, Education, Hospitality, Live Venue, Security, and more. Direct communication is no longer bound by the speed of a dedicated network, effectively bringing the rest of the world directly into the matrix-free Infinity ecosystem. Built on the latest standards-based VoIP and Livewire+™ AES67 AoIP protocols, this design provides more capacity as the system grows, eliminating previous concerns about running out of ports on a matrix.

Also new to the Telos Infinity platform and designed for intercom systems of all sizes and applications is Infinity Dashboard Advanced. This approach makes the iQx far easier to set up quickly, piggybacking off existing network resources. iQx is great for nontraditional audio setups, such as a temporary studio for a special event, mixing remote audio, as a backup TV console, and more. Designed for AES67 and ready for SMPTE ST 2110, iQx is standards-based, allowing AV integrators, installers, and consultants to bring in sources from all over the world. Control is not just a local thing either, as iQx can be controlled from the remote site.

Contact Krissy Rushing, Telos Alliance Marketing Manager, for booth appointments, interviews, or other media requirements at krissy.rushing@telosalliance.com.

About The Telos Alliance
The Telos Alliance is a global leader in audio, trusted by the biggest names in the media landscape.
