The Best of Show Awards returned to IBC this year, and were presented to winning companies during the event by TVBEurope and TV Technology Europe publisher NewBay Media.

TVBEurope and TV Technology Europe received a significant number of nominations before IBC, and it was the task of an independent panel of judges to examine each nominated product throughout the course of the show. The judging criteria assessed nominations for their design, features, cost efficiency, and performance in serving industry professionals.

The Awards were distributed across NewBay Media’s titles, and the full list of winners can be found below. Among the winning entries was travel entertainment app Piksel Voyage. AMSTERDAM—Ross Video is certainly taking advantage of its time at IBC 2015, announcing a bevy of new products and other news to attendees.

Ultrix

Ross Video is debuting the Ultrix, a compact routing switcher that features audio processing and multi-viewers while supporting the new SMPTE 12G standard that gets 4K/UHD video on a single coaxial cable. Ultrix handles all SDI data rates from 270Mbps to 12Gbps and offers BNC I/O and SFP slots. The system also features the Ultricore Control, a control system companion to Ultrix that provides control, configuration and monitoring over Ultrix and NK series routers.

The latest entry in the Carbonite series of production switchers also made the trip to IBC 2015, the Carbonite Black. After premiering at NAB 2015, Ross is relaunching the entire Carbonite line with the Carbonite Black, which offers more I/O choices , production power, and six new panels in one, two and three ME row layouts with 16, 24, and 32 source buttons in a 2RU frame with 36x22 I/O standard. Carbonite Black is compatible with all of Ross’ new slate of products.

In collaboration with SolidAnim, Ross Video has announced the SolidTrack universal camera tracking system. Ross will focus on the broadcast and live production applications for this real-time camera tracking and pre-visualization product. Able to be used in studio or outside, the SolidTrack is designed to work on any camera mounting system to support visual effect shots, green screen compositing, 3D rendering and complex camera moves. SolidTrack is able to integrate into existing workflows.

Ross also has another collaboration with Evertz to add 10GE IP interfaces with ASPEN support to Ross’ Acuity production switchers. The collaboration helps create an IP-based production facility. With the addition of 10GE interfaces, broadcasters can combine traditional SDI infrastructure with IT centric hardware and software to produce programming. The Acuity production switchers can then be connected to Evertz’s 3080IPX and EVE-VSR Software Defined Video Networking switching cores, removing the need for external gateway modules and simplifying the installation and signal management in production.

The latest version, version 4.0, of the Acuity production switcher is also on display. New operational features for the Acuity include Split ME, DVE Warps, Lighting Engine, and supports the new MultiProcessing Inputs card option.

Trackless Studio, a virtual set software that works without camera tracking, also is among the new Ross products at IBC 2015. Built on top of the XPression Real-Time Motion Graphics System, Trackless Studio allows users to perform camera moves, utilize multiple cameras, perform transitions, add live inputs, trigger real-time 3D graphics, recall clips or still images, and create macros for complex events. It can also use stationary cameras with all movement handled by virtual cameras inside of the XPression scene.

Ross is also showing its new production clip server, XPression Clips. Based on the XPression real-time graphics engine, XPression Clips eliminates pre-rolls with instant recalls, features an intuitive interface, and supports multiple forms of automation control. With an XPression Studio upgrade, XPression Clips can add CG functionality to combine 3D graphics with video and graphic clips in the same device. The system also features a ClipStore database to keep track of metadata and has the ability to synchronize with other ClipStore databases in a facility.

In addition, a new partnership with SportsVision will have Ross aiding in the production of rendering specialty graphics for NASCAR broadcasts. The XPression 3D graphics system acts as a rendering engine to update the position and behavior of graphics n every frame of video, in sync with on-air programming.

Lastly, Ross has announced that it will resell CueScript teleprompters and software in conjunction with Ross Robotics and Inception product lines.

ALAMEDA, CALIF.—As part of its presentation at IBC 2015, Clear-Com unveiled the DX410 Wireless Intercom system, a two-channel 2.4GHz digital wireless system. Among the features for the product are 7KHz wide band audio, all-in-one wireless headsets and lightweight beltpacks.

The latest in the DX series, in addition to 7KHz wide band audio, the DX410 also comes with an upgraded radio and a lost packet concealment capability. The DX410 features two-wire and four-wire bridging and two-wire auto-nulling. The bridging capability allows the option for combining the two-wire and four-wire ports together on channel A or B, allowing operators to use a four-wire to send all audio to a mixer, matrix intercom, or other audio source. Two-wire auto-nulling enables fast and accurate integration with Clear-Com or TW wired partyline systems.

Each DX410 base station can support up to 15 BP410 beltpacks and/or WH410 all-in-one headsets. In a single-channel operation, four beltpack users can engaging in simultaneous, full-duplex communication; it allows three users in dual-channel operation. In addition, the BP410 and WH410 offer extended battery life for up to 12 hours.

By operating in a 2.4GHz band, the DX410 does not require radio licensing for use. DX410 is a frequency hopping system and offers spectrum-friendly and Adaptive Frequency Hopping modes.

AMSTERDAM—The new RX Post Production Suite and RX 5 Audio Editor are among the new products that iZotope is set to unveil at IBC 2015. The RX Post Production Suite contains tools to allow professionals to edit, mix and deliver their audio, while the RX 5 Audio Editor serves as a new update to the RX platform.

Aimed at every stage of the audio post production workflow, the RX Post Production Suite includes RX 5 Advanced Audio Editor, RX Final Mix, RX Loudness Control, Groove3, and 50 free sound effects from Pro Sound Effects.

Both the RX 5 Audio Editor and RX 5 Advanced Audio Editor repair and enhance common audio production issues, while also speeding up workflows that require either multiple manual editing passes, or a non-intuitive collection of tools from different vendors. Each system can also be used as a standalone audio editor, standalone audio editor connected to a host, or as a plug-in.

Among the RX 5’s set of tools includes the Instant Process, which lets editors “paint out” unwanted sonic elements directly on the spectral display. It also includes the Module Chain, which allows users to define a custom chain of processing and then save the chain as a preset. RX Connect now supports individual clips and crossfades. The new De-plosive module, to minimize plosives from letters that create pressure change at the microphone element, and Ambiance Match module, which improves accuracy for creating noise profiles when matching background noise to mask edit points, are also available as part of the RX 5.

The RX Post Production Suite is now available at $1,299 for new customers. The RX 5 Audio Editor and RX 5 Advanced Audio Editor will become available in October.

AMSTERDAM—AJA helped kick off IBC 2015 with the announcement of five new products, including a new 4K multi-channel HEVC encoding card and the FS3 4K upconverter.

Corvid HEVC

The Corvid HEVC is a 4K mutli-channel encoding card that will be included in AJA’s Developer Program. Corvid HEVC is a PCIe 2.0 eight-lane video encoder card that provides real-time, low-latency HEVC encoding at 4K, 1080p HD and lower resolutions. The Corvid HEVC can be integrated into Windows and Linux applications with AJA’s SDK. Audio and metadata are also capture and included in the encoded file. Corvid HEVC is now available to AJA developer partners.

The FS3 is the latest in AJA’s line of FS professional frame synchronizers. The system combines frame synchronization with high-quality 4K up-conversion technology to integrate SD and HD signals into 4K workflows. Users also have the ability to input SD or HD resolution SDI via BNC or Fiber and send up-converted 4K/UHD to multiple BNC and Fiber outputs simultaneously. It can also up-convert HD or SD inputs to 4K/UHD up to 60p. The FS3 can also operate as an SD or HD frame synchronizer. FS3 will become available in October at a starting price of $2,995.

AJA also debuted multiple new mini-converters, including the HB-T-SDI, HB-R-SDI, ROI-HDMI and HD10MD4. The HB-T-SDI and HB-R-SDI extend 3G-SDI signals over Ethernet cable, utilizing the industry standard HDBaseT protocol, and supporting bi-directional IR and RS-232 for device control. The ROI-HDMI offers real-time region-of-interest scaling and SDI video output from HDMI computer outputs. The HD10MD4, meanwhile, is a miniature digital downconverter designed to convert HD-SDI video to SD-SDI and analog component/composite video. AJA also introduced a new firmware for the HA5-4K Mini-Converter. All converts and the HA5 firmware will be released in October.

A new range of openGear rack cards and frames were introduced as well. The new cards include OG-1x9-SDI-DA, a 1x9 SDI re-clocking distribution amplifier; the OG-FIBER-2R, a two-channel fiber to SDI converter; and the OG-FIBER-2T, a two-channel SDI to fiver converter. There is also the OG-3-FR, a 2RU, 20-slot openGear frame able to support any openGear compatible card. In addition, AJA unveiled the new version 12.3 for the KONA, T-TAP and lo line video and audio input/output devices.

AMSTERDAM—IBC 2015 is just getting underway and among the exhibitors attending is RTW, a provider of visual audio meters and monitoring devices for professional broadcast, production, post production and quality control. RTW comes to IBC 2015 with its latest product, the TM3 USB Connect Tool, which is designed to enhance the company’s Masterclass plug-ins.

The TM3 USB Connect software provides a direct connection between a TM3-Primus as a plug-in within a DAW environment. It offers a remote control within the DAW for start, stop and reset on the TM3-Primus. The new software allows the TM3-Primus to be connected to any channel or group in the DAW project by inserting the plug-in into the desired channel. TM3 USB Connect can also be used as a standalone remote control for the TM3-Primus, if the Primus is operated as an output device. The TM3 USB Connect can be operated with both Mac and PC products.

AMSTERDAM—Blue Lucy has announced that it will unveil new enhancements to its Blue Lucy Asset Management (BLAM) system at the upcoming 2015 IBC Show. Updates to the system include improvements to its media management and video processing workflow capabilities, as well as a new workflow builder tool that offers operational efficiency through automation and user driven workflows.

Using a web-browser interface, BLAM users can build complex operational workflow that access all of BLAM’s core features and multiple plug-ins. The workflows can combine standard automated video processing and content delivery as well as operational user tasks.

BLAM is offered in two implementation strategies. The ‘commercial off-the-shelf’ model is for small to medium operations and is provided with the ‘out of the box’ web-based user experience. For larger operations, Blue Lucy helps define the operational structure and customize the software on the BLAM core and its plug-ins.

SURREY, ENGLAND—CueScript has announced that it will bring a pair of its latest prompter related products to IBC 2015, the Mole Foot Control and the CueScript Collapsible Hood.

Mole Foot Control

The Mole Foot Control is an Ethernet-based unit with CAN Bus connectivity that enables to use the Mole Foot Control anywhere without no specialized cabling required. The system is designed to sit under a desk or at the presenter’s feet.

The CueScript Collapsible Hood, which premiere back at NAB 2015, is a full-sized hood that is able to fold flat without removing the glass. This allows the prompter to be fully protected and quick to set-up.

CueScript will also display the CueB, a USB Ethernet-based external prompting hub that connects to PC or Mac, enabling activation of the CueiT software and allowing additional desktop, foot and wireless controls to be added to the CueScript system. CueScript’s prompting units, including the CSM LED prompters and CSTM talent monitors, will also be on hand.

SAN JOSE, CALIF.—Video delivery infrastructure provider Harmonic has announced that it is expanding its support of IP video transport protocols. Harmonic’s Spectrum X advanced media server system, Electra X advanced media processor and Electra XVM virtualized media processor will support the SMPTE ST 2022-6 standard for encapsulating high-performance uncompressed (SDI) video signals for transport over IP networks.

The SMPTE ST 2022-6 standard enables products from different manufacturers to send and receive high bit-rate video signals over IP networks, with the capability to support both HD-SDI and 3G-SDI video signal formats. Harmonic’s support of ST 2022-6 looks to ease the migration toward IP-based infrastructure for broadcasters and production companies.

Harmonic will showcase this support at the upcoming IBC 2015 show, specifically demonstrating CAPEX and OPEX gains from Harmonic-enabled IP-based workflows.

MONTREAL—Matrox Video has announced that it will premiere its new Monarch HDX Dev Tools at the upcoming 2015 IBC Show. The Monarch HDX Dev Tools are a set of tools that allow network- or cloud-based video management platform developers, A/V integrators and resellers utilize the streaming and recording capabilities of Monarch HDX H.264 encoding appliances.

Among the tools for the Monarch HDX set are automatic configuration methods and Monarch HDX Control API. The automatic configuration methods set all Monarch HDX encoding and destination parameters by loading an XML configuration file or instructing the device to retrieve configuration information from a URL at boot-up. The Monarch HDX Control API is an HTTP-based API that lets developers create their own control software to start and stop encoding, set bit rates and destinations, and get the status of a Monarch HDX device.

Monarch HDX Dev Tools will be available in September at a starting price of $1,995.

FAREHAM, ENGLAND—Content archive and storage management software provider SGL has announced the slate of products that it is bringing to IBC 2015. Key third-party integration projects will be front and center, as will a handful of new products.

One of SGL’s integrated products is the Direct Connect for the Avid ISIS. Direct Connect allows Avid ISIS users to transfer high resolution material quickly; this includes archiving and retrieving clips or sequences over several GBs or shorter clips with high bit-rates.

SGL will also showcase cloud-based archiving to Amazon’s S3 and Sony’s Ci Cloud services. Working with Aspera and Data Expedition, SGL enables broadcasters and content owners to transfer media to AWS services and Sony cloud services at a guaranteed speed. SGL will also show a full archive using Grass Valley’s GV STRATUS, including full search, archive and restore integrated with SGL’s FlashNet archive.

The FlashNet Migration Service will also be launched at IBC 2015.This new system enables a whole migration to be set up as a single background task that optimizes the use of available archiving equipment and speeds up processes.

Additional products and services set to be on display include SGL’s Avid Web Services integration; an archive demonstration via Avid Interplay PAM; support for LTFS; a new version of FlashWeb with enhanced search capabilities and simplified navigation; and enhanced API with support for REST via new SGL web service.

MILFORD, CONN.—With 4K expected to be a hot topic at this year’s IBC Show, Thinklogical, a manufacturer of signal extension and switching systems, has announced that it will be demonstrating its TLK Series matrix switchers and extenders. The KVM system is able to extend and switch uncompressed 4K and UHD video at full resolution and color depth at 60Hz frame rate via two fibers or CATx cables.

Among the TLX products Thinklogical will offer live demonstrations for are the new TLX48 (48 port) and TLX320 (320 port) matrix switches, and the TLX640 (640 port), a non-blocking, protocol-agnostic, single-frame KVM and video matrix. Other booth demonstrations include KVM and video extension over long distances with redundant fiber paths.

Thinklogical will also showcase video and computer peripheral signal management products for broadcast, OB trucks and post-production.

NEVADA CITY, CALIF.—Telestream will be offering IBC attendees a new look at its Vantage media processing platform, a transcoding and workflow automation software that allows users to ingest, edit, transform, package, monetize and distribute their media. Telestream is set to demonstrate a slate of new features for its Vantage platform, starting with the Vantage Camera Ingest.

Telestream’s Vantage Camera Ingest allows users to create camera-specific hot folders, which allow users to prescribe rules for shot detection, stitching and ingest from either card readers or folders on hard drives. Software running on servers then automates ingest, transcoding and import of shots into the editing system. For Avid Interplay environments, multi-resolution clips can be created automatically in Interplay while allowing frame-chase editing.

After launching at NAB, Telestream will also bring its new VOD Producer DAI system to IBC 2015. The system simplifies and automates the complex tasks of preparing and assembling CableLabs-compliant Video on Demand content for cable operators and production networks. The VOD Producer assembles branded, edited compositions from off-air captures, clean feeds or NLE sources and interfaces with any Telestream software encoder to produce cable, OTT, mobile and broadband output. It also enables DAI workflows by grooming the final program material for downstream insertion of ad content.

Telestream will also display its Time Warp with Tempo, a time adjustment system for re-timing file-based content and adjusting the running times of shows and segments; Post Producer, a file-based content assembly software system that addresses repetitive rendering of different versions of media; and the Lightspeed K80 server set to make its European debut at IBC 2015; the server offers the latest GPU/CPU acceleration technologies to boost video processing and H.264 encoding speeds for products built on the Vantage media processing platform.

Vantage is also integrated with Avid systems, automating media and metadata ingest from incoming video feeds, assets and files to solve complex transcoding and file-delivery scenarios.

SAN JOSE, CALIF.—Harmonic has teamed up with German IP broadcaster Dimetis to create a fully integrated field test system to accelerate the distribution of next-generation terrestrial TV services in Germany.

The test system is a combination of Harmonic’s Electra X2 media processor, ProStream 9100 high-density stream processor, DiviTrackIP statistical multiplexing technology, and NMX Digital Service Manager integrated with Dimetis’ BOSS BROADCAST Manager, providing migration to the DVB-T2 and HEVC video compression standards.

The transition to DVB-T2 improves spectrum efficiency, SD to HD service enhancement, superior video quality, Dolby Digital Plus/AAC audio support, and DVB subtitles. With HEVC, DVB-T2 enables broadcasters to deliver more services per channel.

Harmonic and Dimetis will demonstrate the DVB-T2 HEVC field test system at booths 1.B20 and 1.B30 during IBC 2015, which runs from Sept. 11-15 in Amsterdam.

MONTREAL—In May, Grass Valley unveiled its new EDIUS 8 editing platform. Now, the Montreal-based provider of end-to-end TV production and content distrubtion workflows has announced that it is releasing a new version of EDIUS, EDIUS 8.1, and will preview it at the upcoming IBC 2015. The updated version of the editing system is designed to allow users to edit anywhere and features improved integration with third-party plugins.

The EDIUS 8.1 Pro offers users Windows 10 support, OpenFX gasket integration with Boris Continuum Complete, HitFilm and Sapphire plugins, and optimized playback for DNxHD and ProRes codecs. Browser improvements include bin registration of the catalog, relinking offline clips, thumbnail snapshot to export still images, and RED support. In addition, EDIUS 8.1 will allow users to save a project as a template, as well as enhancements to color tones and contrast.

Additional updates to the EDIUS 8.1 Workgroup include collaboration with Fairlight for PYXIS editing and mixing controllers, and the ability to edit a 4K file on a K2 server.

Grass Valley will make EDIUS 8.1 available for customers in October, but IBC 2015 attendees can get a sneak preview of the platform at booth 1.D11. IBC 2015 runs from Sept. 11-15 in Amsterdam.

MARLOW, ENGLAND—Broadcasting equipment manufacturer TSL Products has announced that it will debut a new virtual panel add on to its Tallyman control system. The virtual panel allows users to access Tallyman functionalities through a customizable interface.

With its configurable, touch-screen interface, the Tallyman virtual panel can control many different routers and allows users to design their own control interface. In addition, the Tallyman virtual panel gives its users access to signal flow management, grouped signal flow management, procedure automation, virtual patching, and custom IP and serial interfaces. The Tallyman virtual panel is compatible with all Tallyman installations.

FULLERTON, CALIF.—Leader Instrument Corporation has announced that it will hold a demonstration at the upcoming 2015 IBC Show on its ability to provide quality control for Sony’s IP Live Production system. Leader’s FS 3103 software package will be the focus of the presentation.

Sony’s IP Live Production system provides an AV over IP interface that delivers low latency and noise-free switching of HD and 4K video, audio and metadata. FS3103 processes MXF audio/video media files, with the ability to analyze four MXF files at one time and reduces the processing file to one-fifth of real-time.

Leader will also demonstrate its FS 3102 software, which provides quality control for SDI video. The FS 3102 can perform real-time checks on up to four HD-SDI or SD-SDI signal streams. When combined with FS 3103, the systems can process up to four files simultaneously.

The FS 3102 and 3103 provide automatic checking and analysis of image characteristics like block noise, line noise, image skip, image freeze, edit point errors, lost source and sequences likely to cause photosensitive epilepsy. Audio tests include channel noise, timing errors, spurious transients, loudness and lost source.

PORTLAND, ORE.—A provider of multiviewers, video walls, extenders and signal processors, Apantac is set to introduce its new Hybrid Multiviewer at the 2015 IBC Show. This new system supports IP/ASI and SDI/CVBS baseband signals to its TAHOMA platform.

The new TAHOMA-IL hybrid multiviewer accepts a mix of IP/ASI streams and baseband video signals, displaying them on one more monitors. The IL multiviewers accept H.264, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, multicast and unicast over UDP or ASI, as well as MP1L2, AAC-LC and HEC-AAC-LC audio formats. Baseband signal support includes 3G/HD/SD-SDI, in addition to composite video formats. The hybrid mulltiviewer can mix and match up to 20 IP and SDI/CBVS images on a single display.

Other features with the TAHOMA-IL multiviewer include high resolution HDMI/DVI ouputs, an optional SDI output, output resolution up to 1920x1200p, and built-in CATx extenders of up to 115 ft. The Apantac Skin Technology is also available and offers visual layout setup and onscreen display, including borders, labels, GPI/O, tally, visual and audio alarms, AFD & WSS, alarm monitoring, close captioning, safe area makers, audio meters, analogue and digital clocks.

MONTREAL—Grass Valley has announced the latest version, 2.8, of its iTX Integrated Playout platform will premiere at IBC 2015. Among version 2.8’s new features are compressed IP input/output and full Softel subtitling/captioning functionality.

The iTX 2.8 platform allows broadcasters to migrate to video-over-IP without having to change playout hardware. The IP I/O is based on H.264/MPEG-2 compressed IP inputs and outputs and is implemented on Appliance 2 hardware without additional hardware changes. The compressed IP I/O is available in addition to the existing SDI I/O.

The compressed IP inputs enable direct feeding of iTX via IRDs and content delivery devices, while the compressed IP outputs enable modern multiplexers or OTT services to be fed without a downstream encoder. The system includes content ingest and media management tools.

The Softel Inside option supports OP43/47/WST/EIA-608/CEA708 and DVB via IP and offers up to 20 languages per channel. The subtitling/captioning provides integration with caption files from other media vendors. Subtitles and captions can be previewed on the desktop.

In addition, iTX Delivery Manager now supports a wide number of asset delivery partners, which automates ingest of media and metadata as well as saving time and improving accuracy by eliminating repetitive, manual ingest tasks.

Grass Valley will demonstrate iTX 2.8 at their booth, 1.D11, at IBC 2015, which runs from Sept. 11-15 in Amsterdam.

RASTATT, GERMANY—Lawo has announced that it will premiere new audio and video technology at the upcoming 2015 IBC show that aims to raise viewer’s in-game experience for live sports production. The audio product seeks to enhance the depth and intensity of sports audio, while Lawo’s new V_line product is designed for IP-based live remote production and features frame-accurate switching of SMPTE 2022-6 video with ‘hitless’ merging for network operational redundancy.

Lawo will also show other new products at IBC, including a system for low-latency IP video monitoring; new additions to the A_line series of 19-inch/1RU Audio-to-IP interfaces; a new radio mixing desk; the IP/MADI hybrid audio router; the Nova router; the mc256XT; and the integration of the Waves SoundGrid server with mc2 consoles.

STOCKHOLM—When Ericsson comes to IBC 2015, it arrives with the goal of displaying how it delivers consumer satisfaction and delight in the Internet era of TV. The Stockholm-based company will launch new products and provide insight into this new era of TV.

Ericsson will showcase new products for media enrichment; Ericsson’s media processing portfolio, which delivers flexibility, quality and efficiency in media management, encoding, transporting and delivering video, as well as advances in video processing and virtualization; media publishing services, including managed playout and information on new UHD channel launches; media delivery systems to cache, optimize, store, process and edge-optimize video delivery in both fixed and mobile IP networks; and media capabilities for differentiated consumer experiences.

The company will also provide insight into its recently published ConsumerLab TV & Media report. It will also feature its Media Vision 2020 session and an on-booth live studio, presenting ask-the-expert sessions with senior Ericsson spokespeople.

AMSTERDAM—MultiDyne has announced that it will premiere its new FiberNet system at the upcoming 2015 IBC show. A real-time uncompressed optical network topology, FiberNet takes interconnects multiple nodes of fiber infrastructures for managing, controlling and distributing uncompressed signals from one centralized location to a production crew anywhere in the world over a single fiber cable.

Professionals can either use control devices on the FiberNet network or their own control platform to monitor, manage and control bi-directional signals coming from an on-site production truck or studio control room. FiberNet also allows users to send any incoming signal to any output with a touch of a button.

FiberNet includes control software, a hardware or software control panel and supports all standards required on a patented hardware platform.

IBC 2015 runs from Sept. 11-15 in Amsterdam. MultiDyne will be located at booth 9.D40.

RENNES, FRANCE—With Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range among the expected trending topics at this year’s IBC show, Thomson Video Network will be on hand to demonstrate its new ViBE 4K real-time compression encoder with a demonstration of encoding a live UHD TV signal to distribute HDR content.

The ViBE 4K enables media enterprises to use HEVC to provide optimal video experience to consumers through live compression of UHD sources up to 60 fps and in 10-bit color. In Thomson’s demonstration, ViBE 4K will take a UHD HDR signal from a SMPTE 2084-compliant broadcast feed and encode it to provide a standard UHD HEVC Main10 compressed stream with HDR information. After that, the stream can be decoded using any HEVC Main10-compliant decoder.

ViBE 4K with HDR support will be available for purchase in early 2016, but you can see it in action first at IBC 2015, which runs from Sept. 11-15 in Amsterdam. Thomson Video Network will be located at booth 14.A10.

TORONTO—Masstech has announced its slate of offerings for IBC 2015, including its latest media asset management and newsroom software technology. Co-exhibiting with partner MOG Technologies at booth 7.K28, the companies will spotlight the integration of MOG’s mxfSPEEDRAIL ingest systems and Masstech’s media management platforms, enabling automated workflows from production and ingest to archive and distribution.

Masstech’s media asset management system, MassStore, features a new HTML5 user interface, support for unstructured metadata, search engine enhancements, embedded player and more. The platform allows media organizations to store, find, reuse, move and manage their content.

Among the newsroom technology on display, Masstech offers archiving and sharing capabilities directly within journalists’ familiar newsroom system interface, which eliminates workflows barriers for faster production of stories.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – Fiber-optic cable provider MultiDyne is bringing a quartet of new products to Amsterdam for IBC 2015, focusing on bringing higher resolutions videos to broadcasters faster and sending uncompressed signals further over a single fiber-optic cable.

MultiDyne will have its new SMPTE Hybrid Universal Transmission Extender on hand, which works with any SMPTE-based HD camera. The HUT system allows users to separate their cameras from their CCUs by distances over 10km with single mode fiber. The new HUT is about half the size of the previous edition and includes a backup battery option.

Mini eXchange converters

A trio of MultiDyne’s SilverBack transceivers will also be on display. The two new products are the SilverBack-III and the SilverBack-III 4K6 camera back transceivers. The SilverBack-III offers all of the same features as the SilverBack 4K5, but is designed for high-quality, multi-camera 1080p/30/60 fps HD productions. The SilverBack-III 4K6 provides six 3Gbps signals to a base station up to miles away. New features for the SilverBack 4K5 will also be demonstrated.

In addition, the new Mini eXchange Converter for HDMI-to-Fiber/Fiber-to-HDMI conversion and the EOS 4000 and 5000 optical electrical switches for video file delivery over an IP infrastructure will also be at IBC 2015.
