WEITERSTADT, Germany—Lynx Technix is rolling out its new HDR Evie+ tool designed for the company’s greenMachine platform. Part of the HDR Suite of Processing Solutions for greenMachine, HDR Evie+—along with HDR Evie and HDR Static—address the challenge of archiving content in both SDR and HDR.

The greenMahcine suite seeks to address the issue of having two independent production routes for SDR and HDR by combining optimized HDR with up-convertered SDR sources into a single HDR production process.

HDR Evie+ is Lynx Technick’s latest edition to its suite of format conversion systems. Using a patented, dynamic segmented frame-by-frame algorithms that use sectional dynamic tone mapping for adjusting each segment of the 3G or 4K HDR content in real time. The segmented dynamic conversion of HDR Evie+ is suited for content like live sports and news broadcasts, according to Lynx Technik.

The entire range of Lynx Technik’s greenMachine HDR <> SDR processing technology supports a range of open standards for conversion, tone mapping and color gamut, including HLG, PQ, SDR and SLog3. Rec 709, Rec 2020 and camera standards by Panasonic, Sony, Arri, ACES, DCI-P3, RED and BMD.

LAS VEGAS — At the 2018 NAB Show LYNX Technik AG will showcase its new Testor app, which adds multiformat test signal generator functionality to the company’s greenMachine platform. The Testor app enables trouble-shooting in the field, studio and master control.

Users can customize greenMachine functionality by downloading apps from the company’s greenStore. And for configuring and controlling the system, there’s also downloadable greenGUI software, which lets users check test signals, control outputs and format settings.

User-defined signal patterns can be uploaded into the app, and logos and text can be inserted into test signals for channel identification. The embedded scaler allows user-defined patterns to be scaled to match the format. Compatible with greenMachine Titan hardware, the unit supports 12G, 3G, HD, SD-SDI formats, and replaces four separate 3G test generators, while allowing networked greenMachines to access and share Testor configurations.

In UHD mode, it provides a single-channel test generator, and four independent test generators with individual logo and text insertions, as well as a 16-channel audio test generator with adjustable level and frequency, which is embedded in the SDI video or output to greenMachine’s external audio outputs.

The greenMachine platform offers facilities a new way to future-proof technology investments, according to Lynx Technik. Each greenMachine can be transformed into a custom processing unit to fit users’ needs by installing different apps. The greenGUI software, meanwhile, provides universal management and control to create and visualize the entire signal processing chain. A hardware device provides processing power and inputs and outputs.
