SIEGEN, Germany & NEW DELHI, India—Guntermann & Drunck GmbH (G&D), and CT Square have agreed to establish a new joint venture company in India.

The new company will serve as the exclusive distribution platform for G&D and VuWall solutions across India, bringing advanced KVM, video wall management, visualization, and control room technologies closer to one of the world's fastest-growing infrastructure and technology markets.

The agreement was concluded during NAB 2026 in Las Vegas and takes effect immediately. The formal establishment of the joint venture office in New Delhi is expected to be completed in the coming months. A dedicated location for the future showroom and office has already been secured.

The agreement will allow G&D and VuWall to significantly strengthening their presence in India, creating a local operation to support customers, consultants, system integrators, and partners working in mission-critical environments, including energy, transportation, public safety, broadcast, government, defense, utilities, and industrial control rooms.

SIEGAN, Germany—Guntermann & Drunck (G&D) and Netgear AV have announced a new solution that simplifies deployment of professional KVM-over-IP systems by removing one of the most time-consuming steps in the process: manual network configuration.

Through the G&D KVM-Over-IP Plugin for the Netgear AV ecosystem, integrators and KVM administrators can apply a dedicated KVM-over-IP profile directly to ports or sections of Netgear AV Line infrastructure. In a single step, the plugin automatically activates key network parameters such as VLAN configuration, IGMP Snooping Querier, QoS, and other required settings for G&D KVM-over-IP deployments.

The result is a faster, more consistent and more reliable setup process, the companies said. Planners benefit from greater configuration certainty from the outset. Integrators reduce repetitive manual work at the switch level and minimize the risk of inconsistencies across installations. KVM administrators can provision expand, and maintain infrastructure with significantly less effort, G&D and Netgear said.

This is especially important in broadcast, Pro AV, and mission-critical control room environments, where device categories, switch types, and bandwidth classes must operate reliably within a shared IP infrastructure. G&D and VuWall have announced that they are strengthening their international sales leadership by appointing Mirko Aubel as Executive Vice President Sales EMEA & APAC and naming Eric Hénique Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) for G&D and VuWall.

The German manufacturer Guntermann & Drunck has announced that it will launch a new generation of its popular multiviewing tool, the PersonalWorkplace-Controller, in early 2024. 

The control room specialist  also reported that it will be demonstrating the new PersonalWorkplace-Controller generation at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Barcelona from January 30 to February 2, 2024.

The PersonalWorkplace-Controller is a fully integrated solution that supports the smooth operation of complex activities and processes in control rooms or control centers, G&D explained.  

G&D said that the solution is designed to address the fact that more and more image and video signals are now entering the control room, where they need to be monitored, controlled, and managed. Employees as well as teams have to process a lot of visual information, analyze information and coordinate activities. This is often carried out on many screens at different places in the room. 

With the PersonalWorkplace-Controller from G&D, workflows and processes can be conveniently operated from one monitor by flexibly displaying multiple sources, the company said. 

The latest generation of the PersonalWorkplace-Controller, which will be launched at the beginning of 2024, system captures and transmits up to 27 image sources to up to four 5K displays or other screen configurations as well as additional IP streams. Each source can be dynamically scaled, repositioned, and controlled.

The tool is also designed to facilitate individual configurations to optimize workflows. Instead of using a separate monitor for each process, the PersonalWorkplace-Controller captures and transmits multiple video signals and streams to a larger monitor or multiple displays. Working areas can be flexibly configured, scaled, and arranged using different computer sources and video streams. The image sources can be individually overlapped, cropped, or protected against each other without being restricted to the conventional four- or six-image layout. Users can easily switch between saved presets making the system quick and easy to use even with different application or by different employees, the company reported.  

In addition to the clear visualization on one monitor, the PersonalWorkplace-Controller also enables integrated and flexible access to all required data in real time. 

The new range offers an optimal user experience with supported resolutions of up to 5K @ 60Hz. Multiple screens of the same resolution can be combined as extended monitors to create large displays, G&D said. 

In addition, the company said that the different variants of the PersonalWorkplace-Controller offer unlimited potential for individual design solutions and can be deployed in a variety of ways for different application areas. 

The system provides invaluable benefits both at individual operator consoles and in the context of a video wall. In addition to the optimized product variants, the manufacturer is also launching a new input card system that enables the seamless integration of remote sources via fiber. With the new models, which are equipped with the “MAX” add-on, the application is no longer restricted by the physical limits of local cabling, the company reported.

German KVM manufacturer Guntermann & Drunck GmbH (G&D) has announced that its presence at this year’s IBC2023 will once again fit in nicely with the show’s focus on tech innovation, the future of the broadcast industry and this year’s IBC theme: "Transforming Media. Changing Perceptions." 

In particular, G&D will be presenting “innovative solutions for the interaction of broadcast and IT.” Those include the expansion of G&D’s VisionXS product range and other innovations. 

In terms of the VisionXS products, G&D reported that the high-performance KVM extenders in the series are matrix compatible and offer a wide range of valuable features for the optimal user experience. The systems are available for classic transmission as well as for KVM-over-IP environments.

With 10G data transmission technology for an even better user experience and resolutions up to 4K, VisionXS combines great functionality and performance in a small housing. For this series, which is being continuously developed further, the manufacturer also relies on their proven, lossless bluedeccompression, which enables authentic, pixel-perfect video experiences.

In addition to the already available DP-UHR variants for resolutions up to 4096 × 2160 @ 60 Hz, the product range is now complemented by the new DP-HR variants for resolutions up to 2560 × 1600 @ 60 Hz. 

In addition, it will be showing dual-head for better ergonomics and more flexibility. 

The VisionXS-DP-HR- and VisionXS-IP-DP-HR variants are also available with two display port connectors for multi-monitor applications. This makes it possible to operate up to two monitors at the same time while saving cabling effort and additional hardware by using only one transmission port. On the user side, the new option ensures better ergonomics and greater flexibility at workstations. 

Simplified installation with PoE variants will also be shown. The new variants supporting Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) allows power to be supplied to the device using the transmission port. This not only reduces the planning and installation effort, the extender can also be secured twice against failures: The device is connected via both the main power supply and the network cable, providing redundancy in case one power supply fails. This guarantees maximum operational safety and reliability during continuous operation.

Another innovation on display will be the VisionXS with Type-C connection. 

The latest additions to the VisionXS family are the VisionXS Type-C computer modules. These revolutionary products enable modern sources to be incorporated, such as USB-C computers, notebooks, tablets and even smartphones, following the trend towards an improved and universal USB standard.

OKLAHOMA CITY—After more than 60 years, Oklahoma City CBS affiliate KWTV and parent company Griffin Media decided it was time to move to a new home with more capabilities. To manage the move to downtown Oklahoma City, they called on design-build systems integrator BeckTV.

“Working with BeckTV was a natural choice,” said Jack Mills, director of engineer for KWTV. “We’ve worked with them since the 1990s on multiple projects through the years. I appreciate working with them because of the quality of their work and expertise, from changing out a switcher to now having a new building."

Discussions about moving to a new building started almost three years ago, with KWTV engineering and design work by BeckTV starting in 2021. “There are a million things going on when building a new TV station, so the relationship needs to be efficient and productive,” said Brenden Cline, senior engineer and director of engineering for BeckTV. “We have meetings with Jack on design, technical requirements, space planning, and workflow. Giving us that information up front means we get that efficiency with Jack and with the manufacturers we’re dealing with. Seeing eye-to-eye on the technology and agreeing on how things should operate—that was exciting and the kind of projects that you want to do.”

What Do We Take?
Working with the architect and general contractor, BeckTV could verify the space fit and furniture design, pathways for cabling and AC, and low voltage requirements, while simultaneously building the equipment list and specifying equipment a year ahead of time. FX Design Group was responsible for set and lighting design, while Digital Video Group handled the monitor layout and set technology. Onsite integration work began in June 2022; after five months, one month was dedicated to rehearsals, commissioning, and shadowing master control leading up to the cutover day. 

Some of the decisions to be made were focused on what equipment to bring over from the existing facility, what would be purchased, and what might need to be borrowed during the transition. “We brought over our recent purchases, items that haven’t been depreciated yet,” said Mills. 

For example, KWTV has three Grass Valley LDX 90 Worldcams still on the books. Those were brought to the new facility’s news set, with Mills getting loaner cameras for the original building’s news set during the transition. Also moved were KWTV’s Dejero bonded cellular field systems, Vizrt system, master control servers, and 800 kW diesel generator.

While some equipment made the trip, KWTV did replace a lot of gear, Mills explained, because it was time to do so, anyway. 

New equipment included:

• Evertz routing with an integrated enterprise multiviewer and TDM audio router with integrated de-embedding
• Evertz master control switcher and airpath
• Clear-Com intercom with SIP for phone lines over IP 
• G&D KVM 
• Avid video production servers 
• Imagine Communications master control playout and automation systems 
• Three Ross XY camera robotics 
• Two Ross ACIDCams for the newsroom and greenscreen
• Two smaller Ross PTZ cameras for studio ceiling beauty shots 
• Image Video tally system 
• Sony XVS-7000 3 M/E production switcher and ELC automation systems 
• Calrec audio console
• Custom BeckTV consoles

The design of the news set, which is the same size as the set in the older facility, and the two-story open ceiling newsroom include a lot of LED screens. The newsroom features a large Daktronics LED screen that rotates art images and photos. The news studio has Philips LEDs on the anchor desk, LG LEDs behind the anchor desk, and Neoti LED panels for the wraparound weather desk. 

IP plays an important role by interconnecting the two facilities, which are 10 miles apart. “We kept a portion of the old building,” Mills explained. “We were able to keep those IP addresses, which was very helpful, with four dark fibers between the buildings, one for satellite, one for STL, and two for a 10-gig IP pipe.”

Strategic Communications
One of the keys to a successful live cutover is communications involving hours of strategic planning, coordination, installation, testing, training, and rehearsals. To ensure a smooth transition, BeckTV maintained a crew of two engineers and six technicians at the new site to install, commission, and support all new and repurposed systems. 

The project team, led by project engineer Abel Sassehagen, systems engineer Christian Ramirez, and lead technician Travis Peterson, with management assistance from TJ Beardsmore, met with Griffin Media and KWTV on a weekly basis to review and discuss the project schedule, focusing on BeckTV and KWTV deliverables and goals. “We were using so much gear from the old facility that we had to move,” Cline said. “We had to deal with loaners, new equipment with the scheduling of manufacturers’ commissioning, how and when to transition. But with great communication, everyone knew the status of the station.”

A simple homeowner moving task would become invaluable for the transition: tagging the status of the original equipment. “We had separate giant lists for master control and production control equipment," Cline explained, "with each piece and any dongles tagged as to when it would be removed from the rack and transported to the new building—specifically by week, day, hour, at cutover or after cutover.”

When the equipment arrived at the new building, the crew knew exactly where to start to stand up the gear. “Of course, getting integrated into the new system sometimes meant bypassing with barrels,” noted Cline. “Master control was first, with GPIs triggering all sort of secondary events so that it could mirror the original master control. Then we would focus on production control. Once stood up, production control gets fairly vetted with all the rehearsals.”

Cutover in 3, 2, 1...
During the transition period on Nov. 12-13, KOTV, KWTV's sister station in Tulsa, handled the Saturday night and Sunday morning newscasts. This gave Cline and his crew the opportunity to transport almost all of the rest of the gear, a big part of which was the weather system with its independent audio and storm trackers. Cutover was scheduled for the Sunday 10 p.m. newscast.

“We did it during the day and on-air, and it was really just switching a switch,” said Cline. “Since we were running in parallel and then switched to the new building, it was seamless to KWTV’s viewers—but we could also fall back if we needed to. That takes a lot of planning.” Additionally, KWTV’s new master control system is designed to be a master control hub to include KOTV in Tulsa.

“This was a fun project,” said Mills. “Of course, there were little fires, but all in all, a very enjoyable experience with BeckTV and all the other groups. It was interesting keeping everything running with all the contractors involved in the new building.”

Cline added that it’s “a little bit rare to work with people you worked with in the past and understand the process. Our product is delivering a good experience for the customer—typically the biggest project in their careers. We want them to feel comfortable and appreciate our people. But this one was special. I had a good time doing it.”

Instead of having to use a separate monitor for each process, the PersonalWorkplace-Controller allows multiple video signals to be displayed on just one large monitor or multiple displays. This gives users the option of individually configuring their workspace with different computer sources. Modified arrangements of operating processes also significantly improve workplace ergonomics. 

In addition to getting a clearly arranged overview of all processes on just one monitor, users can simultaneously and flexibly access all the data they need. Displaying multiple computer sources in real time on one large monitor, and thus providing latency-free operation of multiple computers from a single console facilitates work processes immensely. 

Depending on the application, the multiviewing tool can display and operate up to 26 video sources on a single monitor. Thus, users benefit from an almost unlimited flexible layout with high image quality up to 4K60. 

G&D offers three variants of the PersonalWorkplace-Controller to be used in different fields of application: Basic KVM, Pro KVM, and Pro Video. The “Basic KVM” variant lets you operate up to seven sources. In an application, where four users need to operate up to 14 sources, the “Pro KVM” variant is the best fit, the company said. 

The “Pro Video” device can be used to manage a video wall and to display up to 26 physical video inputs on one or multiple monitors. Here, too, it is possible to flexibly arrange and scale different types of content, the company reported. 

In addition to displaying physical sources, the PersonalWorkplace-Controller can also be utilized for showing virtual content in hybrid structures. Images, texts or video are output via streaming protocols. Apart from physical outputs, there is also the option of streaming the content. Now content from video walls or personal workspaces can be accessed on different output devices, such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet, the company said. 

The PersonalWorkplace-Controller can be seamlessly implemented into existing G&D systems. Both the interfaces to G&D matrix systems and the operation via Select menu or CrossDisplay-Switching are compatible. With this powerful expansion to the portfolio, G&D caters to the growing complexity of control room applications by providing an adaptable solution for designing individual and ergonomic workplaces.

SIEGEN, Germany—Guntermann & Drunck has announced the release of the RemoteAccess-GATE, a stand-alone device that enables customers to remotely operate KVM systems via LAN, WAN and the internet.

The RemoteAccess-GATE provides unblocked, BIOS-level access to connected computers worldwide, per G&D. This allows for remote operation from remote locations and improves IT support and collaboration between employees, the company said.

The RemoteAccess-GATE supports 4K and UHD resolutions with a 4:2:2 sampling rate, as well as HD resolutions up to 1920x1200 at 60 Hz with a 4:4:4 color depth. It uses HDMI video signals and embedded HDMI audio. There are also adapters for VGA, DVI, Mini DisplayPort and USB-C. USB data can be transferred from the remote workstation via RemoteAccess-GATE and the KVM installation to a local computer using additional hardware.

The new G&D unit also provides configurable bandwidths to work over the internet, LAN or WAN and to enable remote IT support at any time. The device can connect a single remote computer or an entire KVM system, according to G&D. Up to eight users can access it simultaneously. Configuration is possible via HTML browser or the serial service interface.

In addition, G&D provided the RemoteACESS-GATE with AES encryption, IP access control, user and group permissions, KVM session encryption and other security features.

BURBANK, Calif.—Guntermann & Drunck has added new features to its ControlCenter-IP matrix for KVM-over-IP. Among the new features are integration of generic USB devices and high-speed USB 2.0 in KVM-over-IP installations, as well as the implementation of the MatrixGuard function for added security.

With the new ability to integrate generic USB devices, G&D now says it is easier for users to connect ControlCenter-IP with mass storage devices. Operators can also decide whether the matrix should support HID (keyboard/mouse) or mass storage devices in the configuration interface.

In addition, via the U2-LAN-04 extender, users can integrate high-speed USB 2.0 signals with a speed of up to 480Mbit/s into a ControlCenter-IP installation. U2-LAN-04 end devices can be paired with KVM-over-IP extenders and switched synchronously or separately via the IP-Control-API.

G&D has also equipped ControlCenter-IP with the MatrixGuard function as security for failure scenarios in KVM-over-IP installations. In a clustered installation of ControlCenter-IP, if the master fails, MatrixGuard enables a backup or database slave ControlCenter-IP to automatically take over the role of the master.

SIEGEN, GERMANY—Strong expansion of the product portfolio and flexible computer access via IP structures: these are only two of the key points that await visitors to Guntermann & Drunck's trade fair stand at the 2017 IBC, Sept. 15-19, hall 1, stand B10. The newest member of G&D’s KVM family is the IP transmission based KVM extender DP-Vision-IP. It allows great flexibility and overcomes the existing spatial restrictions on bridging distances.

The DisplayPort KVM extender system DP-Vision-IP consists of a computer module and a workstation module and facilitates the remote operation of a computer. DisplayPort 1.1a image data is processed pixel-perfect and with great hand-eye coordination. The maximum possible image resolution corresponds to a pixel rate of up to 300Mpixel/s. DP-Vision-IP supports DisplayPort 1.1. Video resolution of up to 2560x1600 at 60 Hz or 3840x2160 at 30 Hz. Transmission of compressed data is by CAT cabling via an IP based network on Layer 3—and beyond network boundaries. Video, keyboard, mouse and control data are encrypted with AES-128.

The KVM-over-IP developed by G&D reveals the limits of dedicated cabling, because existing powerful IP infrastructures can be used with it. It can be combined with other G&D devices, enabling complex installations to be IP accessible.

The DP-Vision-IP System has a proven monitoring and SNMP function, which facilitates continual monitoring of device statuses and sends status notifications.

LAS VEGAS—At the 2017 NAB Show, G&D North America Inc., a subsidiary of Guntermann & Drunck GmbH, will showcase products that enable the transmission of uncompressed or compressed video via optical fiber or IP over long distances.

DP1.2-VisionXG

The DisplayPort KVM extender system DP1.2-VisionXG, which consists of a computer module (transmitter) and user module (receiver), extends computer signals via fiber optics at distances of up to 10,000m. The fiber optic transmission offers sufficient bandwidth for delivering uncompressed 4K and 8K videos at 60Hz, as well as keyboard/mouse, RS232, USB2.0 and audio signals.

The KVM extender DP1.2-Vision includes screen-freeze, monitoring, redundant power supplies, SNMP and two network ports. And it integrates with G&D matrix systems, such as the ControlCenter-Compact or ControlCenter-Digital, which allow the extension and switching of 4K at 60 Hz through the matrix.

G&D will also show the DP-Vision-IP, its new KVM extender for unlimited access over IP. It supports DisplayPort video resolutions up to 2560x1600 at 60 Hz or 3840x2160 at 30 Hz.

The company will also promote its HDIP compression technology for transmitting lossless 4K-resolution video signals at 60Hz. The KVM extender DP-Vision1.2 already uses this new compression mode for the extension of computer signals either via fiber optics up to 10,000 m or via CAT cables up to 140 m.
