NEW YORK—Video editing software Forscene is focusing on new ways it is addressing remote challenges for its booth at NAB Show New York, offering demonstrations of its new Review App and Virtual Ingest Server.

The Forscene Review App is designed to review and approve edits on the go. Finished sequences from Forscene’s editing software can be dragged and dropped to the review button, making it available for review. The app then alerts reviewers and allows them to play, scrub through, comment on and approve or reject from an iOS device. Must be a Forscene account holder to access projects via the app.

The Virtual Ingest Server was first introduced back at NAB 2016 in Las Vegas, but Forscene has created a new user interface for the device that runs Forscene’s ingest software on a virtual machine on a laptop or computer. With the new UI and automated setup, the process has been simplified for Mac users, making it easier to create and upload proxies to the Forscene cloud while also backing up shoot rushes.

Forscene will display these products at its booth, 1155, at NAB Show New York, which takes place from Nov. 9-10.

LONDON—Non-scripted TV production company Magilla Entertainment has acquired a Forscene professional video editing software. The company will use the system for the Discovery Channel show “Diesel Brothers.”

The Forscene platform provides access to hours of footage from the show immediately after the shoot, log and search during production, and allows for the production and post-production teams to collaborate on material needed from shoots, says Magilla. Forscene can run on most devices over a standard Internet connection, provides multicam and multigroup functionality, has auxiliary TC capabilities, and can move work across other NLE platforms.

LAS VEGAS—Forscene will introduce a new virtual ingest server at the 2016 NAB Show. This software-only solution for uploading media into the Forscene cloud is currently in beta and planned for release later this year.

Following the addition of Forscene’s Edge Server to the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, the new Forscene virtual ingest server provides a further alternative to hardware-based ingest workflows. While it uses the same Forscene software that typically runs on ingest hardware, the software runs within a virtual machine on the user’s computer or laptop instead of a separate ingest server. This design reduces capital costs, removes logistical barriers, scales up or down cost-effectively, and reduces barriers to entry for smaller companies and productions.

LAS VEGAS—At the 2016 NAB show, Forscene will highlight a new autosync tool that makes it easy for users to create synced, multi-track sequences, regardless of whether the source footage has synced timecode or any timecode at all. This workflow tool simplifies the sync mapping process, while reducing media storage requirements.

Editors can create sync maps for numerous video and/or audio sources in Forscene video editing software using either the original timecode or by assigning an auxiliary timecode to the source, and then editing from a multi-track sequence or a multi-cam clip. Since proxies are created directly from camera sources, editors do not need to store original media during the rough cut. For finishing, they only need to ingest the high-res sources for shots included in the cut-down sequence.

Forscene will also show an updated closed caption tool that lets users ingest, create, edit, trim and publish captions just like video or audio tracks on the timeline, making it easier to comply with today’s stricter FCC and CVAA programming caption standards, which now extend beyond TV to include online distribution. Forscene’s new caption tool ensures that captions are accurate, complete, in-sync with the dialogue and not blocking important visual information on-screen.

LONDON—Just in time for the Christmas shopping season, Forbidden Technologies is launching the latest version of its Forscene video editing software. This new version of Forscene enables new Avid workflows and increases efficiencies on multitrack productions.

The new Forscene release includes the ability to autoconform sequences against imported AAF's.

New features include the ability to import Avid AAF files; support for up to 12 active video tracks and 24 audio tracks on a timeline; the ability to see all video tracks in a sequence during playback; the option to publish audio-only clips in different formats; and faster publishing for video content with added graphics and overlays.

Forbidden will officially release the new version of Forscene on Nov. 24.

LONDON—After a test run on the series ‘Football Town,’ Leftfield Entertainment decided to deploy Forbidden’s Forscene video editing software throughout all of its production companies. Leftfield Entertainment production companies help produce shows like ‘Pawn Stars,’ ‘Counting Cars’ and ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey.’

Forscene is a cloud-based editing software that can power workflows from creation to delivery. During the production of ‘Football Town,’ Forscene provided remote access to media, which allowed producers in the field to collaborate with the post-production team at base.

LONDON—Post-production house Run VT has announced that it has added Forbidden Technologies’ Forscene video editing software to its post-production kit. Run TV clients are using Forscene to view, log and begin rough-cutting assemblies.

Forscene offers a pay-as-you-go approach and allows users to securely log-in to review and organize materials anywhere with an Internet connection.

Two Run VT clients are currently utilizing Forscene for a number of different reality TV shows to handle their high-shoot ratios.

LONDON—Virtual reality is coming down the pipeline, but Forbidden Technologies will look to offer IBC 2015 attendees virtual workflows as it will premiere its end-to-end virtualized workflow for post-production and distribution of video content. The hardware independent technology combines the company’s Forscene system with the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform.

The workflow has the Forscene ingest server run as a virtual machine on the Microsoft Azure platform to transcode and ingest live broadcast streams into Forscene accounts quickly after the life feed. Video editors can create clips or highlights using Forscene’s NLE from any location. Upon completion, the sequence is dropped back into the Azure for conforming and distribution.

IBC attendees can experience the workflow at Forbidden Technologies’ booth, 8.B38e. They will compete in a simulated car race and then edit it on Forscene without hardware.

IBC 2015 will take place from Sept. 11-15 in Amsterdam.

LONDON – Forbidden has announced that is has come to terms with three resellers in the North America market, Best Broadcast, The Matrx and Z Systems. These new appointments are part of Forbidden’s global strategy to expand the cloud-based professional video editing software, Forscene.

Best Broadcast is a systems integrator that designs and builds end-to-end production and master control technology for the broadcast, cable, education and corporate markets; they are based in Ontario, Canada. The Matrx is an international data distribution network that provides film and TV creators with city-to-city transport, asset storage and processing capacity and will now offer instant logging, editorial and online review through Forscene. The Maryland-based Z Systems provides end-to-end systems and support for pro video.
