                                <p><strong>READING, Pa.</strong>—<a href="https://www.tvtechnology.com/equipment/miri-technologies-unveils-dual-cellular-bonding-router-at-nab-show-new-york-2024">Miri Technologies</a> has unveiled the V410 live 4K video encoder/decoder for streaming, IP-based production workflows and AV-over-IP distribution, which will make its world debut at <a href="https://www.tvtechnology.com/tag/ise">ISE 2026</a>, Feb. 3-6, in Barcelona, Spain.</p><p>Designed with an emphasis on usability, the V410 combines intuitive user interfaces with rich functionality, robust connectivity, including Wi-Fi 7, and flexible format support.</p><p>“Encoding and decoding should be about more than just formats and features,” Ryan Brenneman, co-founder and chief technology officer at Miri, said. “An easy and efficient user experience is just as important as specifications. The Miri V410 encoder/decoder is designed to be simple enough for less-technical users and volunteers but offers deep enough controls and advanced capabilities to delight experienced producers and media engineers.”</p><p>The Miri V410 is user-configurable as an encoder or as a decoder. It can encode one live <a href="https://www.tvtechnology.com/news/look-for-4k-ultra-hdtvs-to-get-brighter-cheaper">4K Ultra HD</a> output at 60 frames per second or two simultaneous 2K QHD (2560x1440) channels. As a decoder, the device can decode two 4K Ultra HD streams concurrently from most supported source formats. Video input and output connections include HDMI, 3G-SDI and USB interfaces with embedded audio support.</p><p>For live streaming, the V410 can encode or decode H.264 or H.265 in a wide range of protocols, including SRT, RTMP, RTMPS, HLS, TS over UDP and RTSP. For video-over-IP applications, the V410 can encode NDIHX2 or NDI HX3 and decode both formats as well as NDI High Bandwidth. In encode mode, the V410 can even transcode from NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX2 or NDI HX3 IP inputs to streaming formats and protocols.</p><p>Miri will also offer ISE attendees a sneak peek at upcoming V410 support for the emerging OMT (Open Media Transport) open-source protocol.</p><p>The Miri V410 includes an intuitive, browser-based web interface and an LCD screen with front-panel menu and shortcut buttons for easy monitoring and control. A large tally light ring around the top of the unit and dedicated front-panel VU meters provide instant visibility of tally status and audio levels. The front of the unit also has a headphone jack.</p><p>The V410 features built-in Wi-Fi 7 to maximize wireless performance as well as dual Gigabit Ethernet connections, providing multi-LAN connectivity or redundancy, with Power over Ethernet (PoE) supported on one of the ports.                                 <p><strong>IRVINE, Calif.</strong>—Teradek will launch its new Prism 877 4K HEVC encoder/decoder cards at the IBC 2024, Sept. 13-16, at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Center.</p><p>The cards allow users to switch between encoding and decoding modes on- demand, enabling them to customize their workflows on an event-by-event basis. With an optional license for simultaneous encode and decode processing, the 877 card can effectively double Prism Rack’s working capacity from nine to 18 bi-directional channels, Teradek said.</p><p>“The Prism 877 cards are a first in our segment of the market,” said Tyler Riddle, live streaming product manager at Teradek. “Teradek is one of the few companies offering a dedicated hardware device capable of seamless encode and decode switching, simplifying your setup by eliminating the need for single-purpose cards.”</p><p>The company also will demonstrate the Prism Mobile 5G and Ranger, live video solutions that have been streamlining mobile production workflows across the globe, at IBC 2024.</p><p>Launched earlier this year, Prism Mobile 5G is a video encoder and cellular distribution solution for sports broadcasters, news teams and live production crews. It provides the best possible cellular connectivity over public and private networks. The lightweight, compact solution allows camera operators to remain agile for longer while capturing action, the company said.</p><p>Since being introduced, Prism Mobile 5G has streamed content for NBA and NFL teams, NBC Universal and Fox. The solution seamlessly streams across remote terrain without a single drop, it said.</p><p>Ranger, a true zero-delay wireless video system for live events and broadcast, has been used for everything from commencement ceremonies to major league sports, delivering visually lossless IMAG over the newly opened and uncongested 6GHz frequencies.                                 <p><strong>DENVER</strong>—Bitmovin has launched its Live Encoder running on the Akamai Cloud Computing, optimizing live streaming and reducing total streaming costs by up to 90%, and announced plans to show the combination at the 2024 NAB Show, April 13-17, the company said.</p><p>Immediately available, the combination reduces data transfer out (DTO) costs, leveraging the performance of the Bitmovin encoder and Akamai’s distributed cloud platform, Bitmovin said.</p><p>“Bitmovin can help its live-streaming customers deliver higher-quality viewing experiences and reduce and better control costs by running Live Encoder on Akamai Cloud Computing,” said Dan Lawrence, vice president of cloud computing at Akamai.</p><p>“Placing and executing Live Encoder’s critical compute functions closer to end users can realize lower latency streaming while maintaining the high quality of service that consumers have come to expect and demand from streaming providers. It can also help dramatically reduce DTO fees in many cases. Collectively, we believe this meets the industry’s desire to continue raising the standards of live streaming, provide lower and more predictable operational costs, and more opportunities to monetize content.”</p><p>With an intuitive user interface, Bitmovin’s Live Encoder simplifies setup of live streams.                                 <p><strong>NANJING, China</strong>—Magewell has introduced two new members of its Ultra Encode family of live media encoders designed for a variety of applications, ranging from live streaming and remote contribution to IP-based production and distribution. It has also announced that it will highlight them during ISE 2024, Jan. 30-Feb. 2, in Barcelona, Spain.</p><p>Available immediately through the company’s global network of authorized resellers, the new Ultra Encode HDMI Plus and Ultra Encode SDI Plus combine encoding and delivery flexibility with simultaneous multi-protocol streaming, file-based recording, NDI HX3 support, 4K encoding at 30fps, Power over Ethernet (PoE) support and advanced live production features.</p><p>"While our core Ultra Encode models and flagship Ultra Encode AIO continue to be immensely popular, some customers want the higher bitrates, expanded formats, recording capabilities and multi-protocol simultaneous streaming of Ultra Encode AIO but in a more compact, camera-mountable form factor," said James Liu, vice president of engineering at Magewell.  "The new Ultra Encode Plus models fit perfectly into the middle of the product line, meeting these needs and making the Ultra Encode family ideal for even more use cases."</p><p>The Ultra Encode HDMI Plus can encode at resolutions up to 4096x2160 at 30fps from its HDMI interface, while the Ultra Encode SDI Plus encodes up to 4K at 30fps from the device&apos;s 6G-SDI input. Both support multiple video encoding formats and technologies, including H.264, H.265 (HEVC), NDI HX2 and NDI HX3, as well as many streaming protocols, such as RTMP, RTMPS, SRT, RTSP, RTP, HLS and TVU&apos;s ISSP technology, the company said.</p><p>Video can be encoded at bitrates up to 32Mbps (62Mbps for NDI HX3), while up to eight channels of audio can be encoded in AAC format. Two concurrent encoding profiles with distinct combinations of resolution, frame rate and bitrate can be specified, it said.</p><p>Configurable presets enable easy streaming to YouTube Live (via RTMP or HLS), Facebook Live, Twitch, the Wowza Video platform (via RTMP or SRT) or custom targets. Ultra Encode Plus models can stream to up to six different target destinations simultaneously. It can stream concurrently in multiple protocols. Inputs also can be recorded as files on the device&apos;s internal storage, an external USB-connected drive or networked storage, it said.</p><p>The compact form factor of the Ultra Encode Plus enables camera mounting. Its metal chassis measures 4.2 inches square (106.6mm by 106.2mm) and is one inch (25mm) high. Integrated tally lights indicate program or preview usage of NDI HX outputs in live production environments. The devices offer loop-through connections as well as line-level analog audio input and output. They can be powered via PoE or the included power adapter. The encoders feature built-in Wi-Fi network connectivity and an RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port, the company said.</p><p>The new encoders can be configured, monitored and controlled through an intuitive, browser-based web interface. Centralized remote management and control of multiple units is available through the Control Hub software.                                 <p><strong>MONT-SAINT-GUIBERT, Belgium</strong>—High Frame Rate (HFR) capabilities have been added to the intoPIX TicoXS JPEG XS-capable encoders and decoders, the company said today.</p><p>With HFR support, use of a lightweight TicoXS IP-core for high-speed encoding and decoding is possible. Depending on the selected IP core, 480fps is achievable with 4K and 1920fps can be achieved with HD—both in monochrome or 4:2:2 color sampling with one encoder, the company said.</p><p>The IP-cores are also not limited to usual broadcast formats for encoding. They can be used for other aspect ratios, including 9:16, it said.</p><p>With slow motion workflows and replay systems, often the high-speed stream is separated into multiple streams, which are sent in parallel (as phases). For example, an HDTV 180fps stream is sent as 3 x 3G-SDI (HDTV 60fps) streams to the replay server, said intoPIX.</p><p>At the system level and using JPEG XS compression, it is easy to improve the high-speed workflow by simply sending a compressed video essence that has the same bandwidth as an uncompressed stream of 60fps but that is capturing 600fps with just a compression ratio of 10:1. It not only simplifies the IP bandwidth, it also simplifies the synchronization between these phases, timestamps, the storage and the replay server architecture, it said.</p><p>“This intoPIX release is of interest to those who want to create new Slow-Mo or workflows using high-speed cameras and sensors. The bandwidth efficiency of JPEG XS used in conjunction with SMPTE 2110-22 IP protocol makes it easy to build smarter systems”, said François-Pierre Clouet, product application specialist at intoPIX.</p><p>The intoPIX JPEG XS-capable IP-cores enable preservation of lossless image quality with low complexity, low power and zero latency. It integrates ads and video clips as well as logos, graphics, text and scrolling text into live video feeds according to a predetermined timetable or in response to signals, such as SCTE 35, it said.</p><p>“The AdSerter was developed for professionals who are ready to shift to a strong server that can provide them all that is needed to handle a large number of channels in a single box,” said Vargas.</p><p>DVEO also will showcase an upgrade of its Brutus GPU that makes transcoding more sustainable. The series of encoders and decoders are available as stand-alone desktop configurations and as part of the openGear card module form factor. While all versions of MD9200 are designed to provide strong bandwidth efficiency while maintaining signal integrity and visual quality, the openGear modules are compatible with MultiDyne’s entire openGear community or infrastructure products for a broader reach.</p><p>The encoder models of the MD9200 enable secure streaming from one to many destinations, supporting a mix of streaming protocols. Each independent encoder can accommodate unique frame size, frame rate, video/audio codecs and data configurations, as well as being able to independently encode HD and SD streams separately at high and low bit rates from a single SDI input.</p><p>With the decoders, both optimize 1080p AVC (H.264) and 1080i MPEG-2 compression, with optional support for high bit-rate 2160p HEVC (H.265) UHD streams. The openGear decoder can house up to 20 decoding modules in a single 2RU openGear chassis for signal decompressions to SDI and HDMI. The standalone MD9200-DEC can do the same for point-to-point streaming.</p><p>“The MD9200 series brings MultiDyne firmly into the compression world, which gives our core customers compelling end-to-end options to encode, compress, transport and deliver live HD, 4K and 8K content when paired with our fiber transport systems,” according to MultiDyne President Frank Jachetta.</p><p>MultiDyne is now shipping the MD9200 series. In addition, the Teradek Core management platform was put in use to remotely route and configure encoders in the cloud.</p><p>Program feeds were delivered from Seattle, Houston, Huntsville, Ala., Washington, D.C., and Neil Armstrong’s birthplace, Wapakoneta, Ohio. All the feeds were managed, produced and distributed from the Kennedy Space Center to TV networks.</p><p>NASA had previously used Teradek technology for its 2017 live coverage of the Great American Eclipse across Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and NASA.gov.</p>

Leveraging LiveU’s market-tested bonding technology, the LU210 and LU220 solutions allow news teams to combine satellite and cellular networks for newsgathering on-the-move and in fixed locations.<br/><br/>· The LU210 offers a single encoder in a cost-effective, rack-mount configuration.<br/><br/>· The LU220 provides higher density with two independent encoders in the same rack-mount configuration and support for dual path streaming, enabling simultaneous streaming from two video sources.<br/><br/>Both encoders can be connected to LiveU’s Xtender transmission device and IP-based Ka-Sat, providing resiliency in extreme scenarios. For studio-based solutions, they enable content contribution from remote/fixed locations and the uploading of content to LiveU’s MultiPoint internal and cross-organizational video distribution service.<br/><br/>Key benefits are said to include high video quality using LiveU’s LiveU Reliable Transport protocol; central and remote management via LiveU Central; least-cost bonding – automatically controlling how much bandwidth is transmitted over cellular or satellite connections; and density and cost savings.<br/><br/>Avi Cohen, LiveU’s cofounder and chief operating officer, said, “We’re seeing a growing trend of converting SNG trucks to hybrid trucks, as well as the use of smaller vehicles for mobile news coverage. Those formats are then multiplexed and sent to WSG’s content delivery network. WSG uses SelenioFlex to centralize management, monitoring and control of the encoders. The platform also provides failover and self-healing recovery capabilities to minimize disruption to the service.</p><p>WSG delivers about 600 sporting events every year across more than 30 countries.
