ELGIN, Ill.—DTV Innovations said its MetaWright 3 ATSC 3.0 and DTV+ (formerly known as TV 3.0) solution now operates seamlessly on its latest OX-4 custom hardware.

MegaWright 3 software delivers ATSC 3.0/DTV+ signaling and service announcements, ROUTE/MMT encapsulation and broadcast gateway functionality. The version installed on OX-4 hardware includes multiple files and a transport stream player, which enables the system to function as a complete, standalone ATSC 3.0/DTV+ test equipment solution. The file player can also be used in disaster recovery mode, the company said.

The compact OX-4 measures 1.75 x 4.63 x 9.63 inches and offers power consumption of less than 40 watts. With a ¼-rack-unit form factor, the solution includes four 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet ports, four-lane PCIe slot expansion for terrestrial or satellite RF modules and more than enough storage and memory for demanding broadcast and streaming applications, it said.

The company unveiled the MetaWright 3/OX-4 combination last week at the SET Expo in São Paulo, Brazil.

DTV Innovations announced the appointment of Tom Moniak as the vice president of sales and marketing, with primary responsibility for the U.S. market.

Prior to joining DTV Innovations, Moniak most recently served as director of sales at Digital Nirvana. Before that, he closed more than $1.5 million in 10 months at Blend Localization as its director of business development, U.S.

ELGIN, ILL.—DTV Innovations has hitched a ride with Wild Hare Satellite HD’s satellite uplink truck, announcing the installation of its DTVI Gryphon PVE-3 ultra-low latency video encoder. Wild Hare acquired the encoder to refresh its video contribution compression equipment to have its truck be in compliance with the FCC’s DVB-CID mandate.

Wild Hare will use the Gryphon PVE-3 encoders to encode standard and high-definition MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264, 4:2:0 and 4:2:2, 8-bit and 10-bit, and up to eight pairs of broadcast quality audio. The encoders can be multiplexed together with an internal multiplexer to transmit services and protect content with BISS encryption.

David Garbutt, owner of Wild Hare, said that determining factors in selecting the Gryphon PVE-3 encoders included the integrated front panel carrier/modulator controls, the menu structure, rapid boot time and front panel switch.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO—DTV Innovations has announced that it has acquired the professional video contribution product line from International Datacasting Corp. The deal is expected to close over the next two weeks as certain closing conditions are met.

IDC acquired the professional video line from Comtech EF Data back in 2009. It provides hardware based MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoding and decoding systems that focus on low latency, video quality and support for multiple audio channels and formats.

With this acquisition, DTV now owns all intellectual property and inventory associated with IDC’s professional video line, including Titan and SE4000 encoders, HMR decoders, and Logic Innovations TSM-2800 ASI multiplexer. As part of its acquisition plan, DTV has opened a new R&D center in San Diego and hired senior level sales, engineering and support personnel.
