<dc:content>
PLANO, Texas—Diversified has announced that it is working with Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) to support the expansion of CTS’s new global Broadcast Operations Center at its Dry Creek facility in Colorado.

The initiative reflects the growing need for an advanced centralized, fully IP-based infrastructure to support modern content delivery across broadcast, streaming and live sports, the two companies said. The expansion will help CTS offer clients scalable, cost-effective, next-generation media operations for its clients.

This initiative focuses on scaling CTS’s playout infrastructure to meet increasing customer demand for outsourced content management while improving operational efficiency, speed to deploy and system resilience.

As part of that, Diversified has worked alongside CTS’s engineering and operations teams to modernize and expand its playout environment, including the integration of SMPTE ST 2110-based IP infrastructure, advanced monitoring technologies and centralized network operations capabilities.

The result is a new unified monitoring and control environment that consolidates multiple workflows, businesses and clients into a single operational view—enabling more efficient staffing, automated and swift issue resolution and improved scalability, they reported.

The expanded facility is designed to serve as both an operational hub and a showcase environment for clients and partners, highlighting the next generation of playout and distribution technologies in a live environment, the companies said.

“This expansion represents more than a facility upgrade. It reflects where the industry is going,” said Jason Kornweiss, senior vice president of advisory services at Diversified. “As playout and distribution operations become more critical to growth, media companies need partners who understand both the technical complexity and the operational realities of these environments. Diversified has been investing in that exact capability, and this collaboration with Comcast Technology Solutions is a strong example of the impact.”

To support ongoing growth, Diversified has also established a dedicated on-site presence at the Dry Creek facility, embedding engineering and delivery teams directly alongside CTS operations. This model enables real-time collaboration, accelerates decision-making and ensures continuous optimization as the environment scales—allowing CTS to stay focused on client engagement, workflow optimization, 24/7 operational support, scale and reliability that CTS provides sports leagues, teams and premier media entertainment companies.

“As demand for next-gen playout services continues to grow across broadcast, streaming and sports, having the right team in place is critical,” said Bart Spriester, senior vice president and general manager, streaming, broadcast & advertising at Comcast Technology Solutions. “Our collaboration with Diversified allows us to continue scaling, innovate confidently and deliver the level of performance our clients expect.”

The collaboration reflects a broader industry shift toward centralized, IP-based media operations. As content distribution expands across streaming, live event platforms and FAST channels, playout is evolving from a standalone technical function into a scalable service layer—one that must support increasing channel volume, multi-platform delivery and real-time audience engagement. In response, media organizations are consolidating operations, outsourcing non-core functions and investing in infrastructure that can adapt quickly without increasing operational overhead.

Attendees of the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas will be able to get a deeper diving into some of these trends from executives at Diversified and Comcast Technology Solutions for a deeper look at these trends.

On Monday, April 20 at 2 p.m., Kornweiss will join Comcast Technology Solutions’ Director of Sports Management Solutions Kyle Eichman and Anthony Brock, vice president of business strategy and analytics for the Philadelphia Flyers, for a featured session titled “From Playout to Platform: How Comcast Technology Solutions Is Evolving Media Operations for Scale.”

The session will examine how media organizations are connecting playout, distribution and direct-to-consumer experiences to create more responsive, data-driven engagement models—and why the link between operational infrastructure and fan experience is becoming a critical competitive advantage.
</dc:content>

PLANO, Texas—Diversified has announced the launch of Atlas Orchestrate, a new platform that is designed to eliminate the complexity of cloud deployment by enabling organizations to set up cloud environments and software packages in minutes – not days or weeks.

Diversified will unveil Atlas Orchestrate ahead of the 2025 NAB Show, scheduled for April 5-9 in Las Vegas.

“Atlas Orchestrate is a flexible ecosystem to make cloud-based workflows more accessible,” said Lance Polvado, director, product portfolio at Diversified. “It removes barriers to cloud adoption, allowing clients and partners to deploy applications more efficiently while improving security, reducing complexity, and accelerating time to value.”

Diversified explained that Atlas is the secure-by-design infrastructure powering Diversified’s next-generation technology offerings, where it is serving as a secure foundation for future innovations and the centralized location for all Diversified technology offerings.

Built on Atlas, the Orchestrate module is designed to automate the provisioning of cloud resources and installation of vendor software packages in a secure, scalable, and efficient way. Industry innovation leaders including Solid State Logic, Chyron, Leostream, Riedel Communications, swXtch.io, TAG Video Systems, Telos Alliance, ATEME, and Imagine Communications have integrated solutions as part of the initial release of Atlas Orchestrate.

“The Telos Alliance is excited to be among the first integrated with the Atlas Orchestrate platform. We view this initiative as a pivotal advancement for driving greater flexibility and enhanced security in cloud utilization,” Costa Nikols, executive team strategy advisor, media and entertainment, Telos Alliance.

Diversified also reported that Atlas Orchestrate has already proven its value through successful proofs of concept. Monumental Sports & Entertainment is among the early adopters benefiting from its capabilities.

“After our successful cloud proof of concept utilizing the initial group of vendor partners, we are looking forward to further developments of the Atlas Orchestrate platform to simplify our journey into additional cloud-based productions,” said Charlie Myers, chief technology officer, Monumental Sports & Entertainment.

Atlas Orchestrate enters the market at a time when cloud deployments are accelerating and many companies are grappling with complexities and security challenges in cloud deployments. Diversified reported that the global cloud media and IT market is projected to reach $1.266 trillion by 2028.

Benefits of Atlas Orchestrate:

Automated deployment and scaling: Deploy cloud environments and vendor applications in minutes.

Security and compliance: Designed to address security and compliance risks with built-in NIST-aligned security architecture, continuous vulnerability scanning, and zero-trust access control.

Cost optimization: Minimizes the need for in-house cloud expertise while reducing organizations' cloud-related expenses.

Multi-cloud and technology-agnostic: Currently supports AWS, with additional cloud providers on the roadmap, and easily integrates with leading software applications.

Speed to market: Accelerates deployment timelines, enabling rapid and error free setup for proofs of concept and flexible cloud implementations.

At last year's NAB, Diversified previewed Intelligent Orchestration as a next-generation approach to cloud deployment—Atlas Orchestrate now turns that innovative strategy into practical reality. Initially targeted at streamlining cloud projects for media clients, Diversified expects Atlas Orchestrate will soon enable growth into new market segments and expanded enterprise use cases.

Event attendees are invited to the "Orchestrating the Future: Connections & Conversations" presentation and happy hour at 4:30 p.m. on April 6, 2025, in Theater 3 (W2831), providing an opportunity to connect directly with cloud technology experts and discover how Atlas Orchestrate can support their organization's cloud objectives.

Subsequently moving to the US, Rich joined New Jersey-based systems integrator, AF Associates as Vice President, Sales, and then became VP of its new Products Division successfully introducing a number of European broadcast manufacturers to the US market that later opened their own operations. Rich joined AVS Broadcast and then Tekniche, a UK manufacturer of interface equipment and standard converters.

He served as VP US at Tekniche, growing American operations into a multi-million-dollar entity that was acquired by Leitch where he remained until 2002. Rich took on the role of VP Broadcast Sales at Diversified Systems in 2003 and then joined Evertz in a senior sales role, responsible for key accounts. He continued at Evertz as a consultant for many years following his semi-retirement.

While his professional accomplishments were varied and numerous, Rich will best be remembered for his sense of humor, intelligence, and above all, his loyalty. A friend to all and a mentor to many, Rich is responsible for launching multiple careers (including this writer’s) and guiding many to success.
HAMBURG, NJ—Rich Lunniss, a familiar figure, friend and mentor to so many in the industry, lost his long battle with cancer and kidney disease on Dec. 19, 2022.

Born in the UK, Rich launched his communications career with Marconi Communication Systems.

With his experience, he will take the company to even greater heights and I look forward to contributing to that success.”

In addition to his more than 20 years of executive-level experience in IT services and consulting, Hutto’s background includes a strong list of household names, many of which he has led the charge in organizational transformation and exponential growth.

“Fred and the Diversified team have built such a strong foundation, and because of them, this company is positioned to do really big things,” adds Hutto. “As I step into this role, I can’t wait to dive in and take on the challenge of helping further our growth and capabilities. Diversified is already well respected in the industries that know us, but we’re ready to show the whole world what a truly valuable business partner we can be to meet any modern technology needs.”

To learn more about Eric, head to his bio on Diversified's leadership page and his LinkedIn page.

Lawo’s smartSCOPE and smartDASH helped us immensely with our testing and commissioning that facilitated the successful launch of a big project. Additionally, smartANC Shuffler allows us to manage ancillary data streams in a way that was not directly possible in an SDI environment.

Diversified recently completed a systems integration project for a major market TV station in the U.S. The station was built in a brand-new facility using state-of-the-art ST 2110 technology and went on air with full-time production several months ago.

THIRD-PARTY INTEGRATION

At the core of the system are Lawo’s VSM broadcast/router control and V__matrix C100 processing blades, some of which are used as IP gateways and multiviewers. Numerous third-party IP devices were also leveraged to provide a best-of-breed system to the customer: ST 2110-based cameras, production switchers, graphics systems, editing IO, satellite IRDs, general-purpose encapsulators and de-encapsulators, etc.

The master control switcher was fully virtualized using VSM and the master control air chains for the various station channels were all designed and built utilizing IP.

With the integration of different third-party systems and the implementation of complex workflows, there was a need for a robust troubleshooting and monitoring system. smartSCOPE offers a good range of measurement and analysis tools, including basic features such as video and audio monitoring tiles, along with more complex IP measurement tools such as packet telemetry, packet pacing, service timing sync, etc.

Various RTP stream characteristics within the packet telemetry toolset can be monitored. For instance, users can view the min, max, and mean interpacket arrival times of ST2110-20/30/40 streams along with RTP packet losses and packet jitters. One tool I particularly like is “Service Timing Sync,” which can be used to determine the essence RTP stream offset with respect to PTP, along with the relative offsets between video, audio, and ancillary RTP streams.

Packet Pacing is another excellent tool to model VRX buffer behavior and overflows for incoming streams from a narrow- or wide-based sender. It helped me diagnose an issue with the receivers on a production switcher, which are hard-set as narrow receivers. When slightly bursty narrow-based traffic from a particular vendor was sent to these receivers, video inputs began to tear due to consistent packet overflows. The production switcher vendor duly wrote a firmware patch to deepen the receive buffers and no video tearing has been observed since. Additionally, the Packet Pacing tool offers TRoffset readings of the time offset between the actual start of the first packet of a video frame vs. derived time with respect to the ST2059-01 Epoch.

FLEXIBLE WORKFLOW FOR 2110

smartDASH is also an effective graphical tool for network-level troubleshooting. It uses real- time streaming telemetry data gathered from the network switches in an easy-to-understand graphical fashion. While I habitually perform network-level troubleshooting at the switch CLI layer, smartDASH is a powerful tool for broadcast engineers unfamiliar with CLI.

One of the challenges we faced during the design phase of the master control air chain was architecting a workflow that would give us the flexibility to mix and match different ST2110-40 ancillary data streams with the outgoing final-air ST2110-20 video and ST 2110-30 audio streams. The smartANC shuffler provides an elegant solution: we can decouple upstream ancillary data streams (closed captioning, AFD, SCTE104, etc.) from different sources and marry them with the outgoing video and audio output streams.

This type of flexibility is generally not offered in an SDI system where ancillary data is carried in the VANC and HANC spaces of the SDI video payload.

For more information visit https://lawo.com.
</dc:content>
