CYPRESS, Calif.—PBS39/WLVT-TV in Bethlehem, Pa., upgraded its control room last summer, which included the addition of For-A’s HVS-2000 Hanabi video production switcher and ClassX broadcast graphics system, which helped update both the station’s on-air look and its live production workflows.

The HVS-2000 switcher was equipped with 32 inputs—which can be expanded to 48—and a 3 M/E panel with 6 M/E performance, plus 4 MELite buses. It also has AUX remote control panels to feed set monitors.

A typical WLVT-TV production consists of a four-camera shoot, but some shoots can use up to 10 cameras, both studio and PTZ, which the HVS-2000 is able to handle.

A new function provided by the For-A gear is that operators can load and playback graphics from the ClassX with the HVS-2000, making them available during live productions. The ClassX supports the use of RSS feeds for updating election results and other data in graphics, as this new equipment will assist with the station’s coverage of the presidential election in November.

CYPRESS, CALIF.—Following a recent deal that names For-A the exclusive dealer of Italy’s ClassX graphics suite in the Americas, For-A has announced that WICZ-TV, a Fox affiliate in Vestal, N.Y., is among the first to acquire the ClassX system.

WICZ-TV has purchased three ClassX real-time broadcast graphic products for content graphics creation, playout and social sharing. The package includes the ClassX Castalia CG software, the ClassX LiveBoard and the SocialServer. WICZ-TV will integrate its ClassX software with its broadcast news ticker.

In addition, as part of the partnership between For-A and ClassX, For-A has announced it will have the ability to integrate ClassX’s suite of graphics with For-A’s live production switchers.

WASHINGTON—For-A is planning to make a stop by the 2016 GV Expo to showcase its new HVS-100 portable video production switcher, which is designed to interface with the real-time graphics system LiveBoard from ClassX. The HVS-100 uses a Thunderbolt card to interface with LiveBoard.

For-A has constructed the HVS-100 switcher to offer audio with graphic wipes as well as 20 multi viewer layouts. It features a built-in web server for operators to change settings from a PC or tablet. In addition, a clip memory feature has been added to the still store to support performances.

By connecting the HVS-100 with ClassX’s LiveBoard via the TB2 Thunderbolt interface, users can send uncompressed, low-latency video, graphics and sound over a single cable. While doing so, it is able to handle up to four I/O full HD videos simultaneously.

The 2016 GV Expo will take place in Washington D.C. from Dec. 7-8. For-A will be located at booth 132.
