NEW YORK—CGI will showcase the latest updates to its media solutions at NAB Show New York. The company says it is “committed to enabling story-centric workflows that bridge across all delivery platforms” and will showcase features such as the integration of its OpenMedia newsroom system with Microsoft Teams. This will allow communication and data relating to a specific story or subject to be viewed directly in OpenMedia, simplifying collaboration within journalistic teams.

Also on display will be OpenMedia NewsBoard, which has been rebuilt from the ground up to enable journalists and editorial teams to organize planning and production processes from anywhere; and the new cloud-native ReporterApp for Android and iOS, which allows reporters in the field to stay connected to their newsroom and collaborate on content.

MUNICH—SCISYS Media Solutions has announced a rebrand to CGI as part of a combination with the Canadian-based parent company of the same name. As CGI’s Media Solutions, the group will continue to support the global broadcast community with its newsroom and radio expertise, as well as with the addition of global IT capabilities, the company’s announcement said.

CGI had previously completed the acquisition of SCISYS in December of last year.

In addition to the rebrand, CGI has announced additions to its media leadership team. Michael Pfitzner has been appointed vice president for newsroom solutions, while Michael Thielen will now serve as the vice president for radio solutions. Both formerly held management positions within SCISYS Media Solutions.

Other announcements shared in CGI’s press release include an ongoing partnership with AI-based content delivery technology specialist, Condat, and digital audio studio technology developers, DHD. It also recently participated in the Avid Alliance Partner Program to become Avid certified.

LONDON—The acquisition of SCISYS by CGI is now finalized, bringing the Dublin-based SCISYS’s expertise in the media and broadcast news, as well as space industries, into the CGI portfolio.

CGI says the addition of SCISYS will add more than 670 professionals to its ranks and help boost CGI’s relationships in the U.K. and Germany.

OSLO, Norway—The Future Group has introduced Pixotope, a software suite for commodity hardware that makes it easy and affordable to use 3D, VR, AR and data technology in video productions.

Available as a subscription-only package, Pixotope enables broadcasters and video producers to create real-time, cinematic-quality, cross-reality content, the company said. The new product closely integrates the Epics Games Unreal Engine to make possible creation of real-time graphics.

Pixotope’s real-time graphics processes include reflections, distortion, shadows, lightwrap and virtual camera moves.

The Pixotope software suite includes: Pixotope Director to control all aspects of the system; Pixotope DataHub, which offers an API for easy integration of multi-camera workflows, including MOS, custom control panels, DMX light control and GPI triggers; Pixotope Controller, which allow design and integration of control panels inside browsers on any device; and Pixotope Editor, which supports a WYSIWYG workflow for level layout, lighting, vfx, animation and compositing.

Pixotope tools include the Text3D GG, Pixotope Keyer and Pixotope Studio Creator virtual studio generator.

The software allows users to:

• Create virtual sets and AR with cinema-quality real-time graphics;
• Work with a single camera or multi-camera productions in which everything is synchronized and dynamically linked;
• Make all graphics work, from personalized sets to entire content sequences, data-driven
• Use off-the-shelf hardware and CPUs.

Monthly subscriptions are priced at $2,500 per camera channel.
