WASHINGTON—Just as CCW 2015, featuring SATCON, was scheduled to get underway, the National Association of Broadcasters has announced that it is rebranding the event as NAB Show New York. The newly named event takes place today, Nov. 11, and tomorrow at the Javits Convention Center in New York.

“The essence of NAB. The power of NYC” will serve as the show’s new tagline, which the NAB believes reflects an expanded focus that leverages the strength and penetration of the NAB Show, while adding breadth and value to the event for an enhance attendee and exhibitor experience.

Drawing an average of 7,000 attendees annually, the NAB finds that the NAB Show New York offers a more intimate and focused setting while also serving as an easier location for European and East Coast attendees than the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas.

“We intend to retain many of the features that have contributed to CCW’s success, such as accessibility, community, and the ability to efficiently get business done,” said Chris Brown, NAB executive vice president of conventions and business operations. “The new brand, however, will allow us to leverage the strength, leadership and content connections of the NAB Show and take it to a new level by offering more innovative programming, attracting new markets and driving deeper engagement among attendees and exhibitors.”

NEW YORK—Whether it be for the field or for the studio, Panasonic plans to showcase its latest 4K cameras at CCW 2015.

AG-DVX200PJ

The lineup of cameras set to be on display includes the AG-DVX200PJ 4K handheld camera with a 4/3-inch large-format MOS sensor, the AW-UE70 4K PTZ integrated 4K pan/tilt/zoom camera, the AK-UC3000 4K studio camera, and the AJ-PX380 P2 AVC-ULTRA shoulder-mount camera, which offers IT/wireless connectivity capabilities and dual codec recording.

Panasonic will also have the VariCam 35 4K Super 35mm camera/recorder, AJ-PX270 P2 AVC-ULTRA handhelf camcorder, AW-HE40 and AW-HE130 PTZs, AW-HEA10 wide angle PTZ camera remote control, and the AV-HS6000 2ME production switcher.

In addition, producer Barry Green is scheduled to give a presentation on the AG-DVX200PJ. The session will take place Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. in CCW’s Session Theater.

NEW YORK—HD camera and production equipment provider Ikegami has lined up some of its latest camera and monitor technology for CCW 2015.

One highlight will be Ikegami’s recent collaboration with ARRI to create the HDK-97ARRI camera. A broadcast style production camera with digital camera characteristics, the HDK-97ARRI can employ a large format sensor in multiple camera operation. Centered around ARRI’s Super 35mm CMOS sensor with associated support circuitry, the camera provides shallow depth of focus, HDR as a standard feature, and progressive frame rates like 23.98p. Meanwhile, Ikegami technology provides broadcast-grade distribution via fiber transmission, using up to 2 km SMPTE hybrid fiber/copper camera cable. Able to operate at 1080/59.94p, outputs from the half-rack BS-98 station include 4K, 1080p and 1080i.

HC-HD300

Ikegami will also have its HC-HD300, a docking style camera for the studio or field. Among its features is the newly developed 1/3-inch 3-CMOS optical block design. It can work with a camera control system consisting of the FA-300 Fiber Adapter and BSF-300 Base Station, utilizing OpticalCon DUO connectors for its fiber camera cable connection.

A number of Ikegami’s monitors will also be on display, including the HEM-2570 25-inch full HD OLED Grade-1 master monitor, HLM-1705WR 17-inch HDTV/SDTV Multi-format LED backlit monitor, and HLM-905WR 9-inch HDTV/SDTV Multi-format LCD color monitor.

MONTREAL—Grass Valley intends to demonstrate a number of its live production products at CCW 2015. Among the tools it will have are the Karrera K-Frame S-series switchers, Focus 70 Live camera, and multipurpose GV Director.

Combining mid-range switcher performance with multiformat support, including 1080p and 4K, the Karrera K-Frame S-series switchers can be offered as two system packages, three M/Es or two M/Es. A new compact frame includes an internal power supply, new controller module with ImageStore and multiviewer capabilities, and IP I/O for SMPTE 2022-6 connectivity.

The company will also have the Focus 70 Live camera that offers a feature set optimized for many live small studio and field applications. In addition, the GV Director nonlinear live production center is a multipurpose tool for live production that integrates video switching, multilayer effects, animated graphics, multiviewer monitoring and more.

NEW YORK—Integrated Microwave Technologies is set to partake in CCW 2015, and will be bringing a number of its products to display, including the GL Fixed Link System, Newscaster DR3 and CRx6.

The RF Central GL Hybrid Broadcast/IP Fixed Link is a flexible hybrid broadcast/IP microwave fixed link available in all Part 74 and Part 101 microwave bands from 2 to 23 GHz. It can configured as either a traditional indoor system or a split system with the RF equipment housed in a separate weatherproof outdoor unit. It is available in more than four dozen different modules, has an MFR2 mainframe, and future updates will be backward compatible with existing systems. New features include the PWS/A and PWS/D redundant power supplies and versatile SFP/4 hitless switch and mux card.

Newscaster DR3

The Newscaster DR3 is IMT’s third-generation diversity receiver with updates that include a six-way MaxRC diversity, IP diversity, MPEG-2 andMPEG-4 decoding, a webpage interface and integration into IP networks; the receiver also features a built-in IP diversity receiver switch. Designed to work with Nucomm’s High Dynamic Range Block Down Converters to compensate for cable loss. The DR3 lets users daisy chain up to eight receivers and share the same set of antennas, as well as connect up to three externally loaded receivers via Ethernet for an IP diversity system.

A member of the Nucomm family of IP diversity receivers, the CRx6 is a COFDM six-way diversity receiver that offers RF performance and environmental durability for external use. It accepts the input from external antennas, without block-down converters and streams directly over and IP network to a DR3 or networked decoder. It has the option to receive up to four RF channels simultaneously. When used with IMT’s DR3, users can pair multiple CRx6 receivers together to expand coverage.

SAN JOSE, CALIF.—Quantum announced Xcellis, its next-generation shared workflow storage system, back in October, now it is ready to have its big unveiling at CCW 2015.

The new system enables users consolidate media and metadata management, extend connectivity options and support hosted applications. The Xcellis integrates different components of workflow storage into a single hardware system that runs on the Quantum StorNext 5 media workflow platform. The system supports online work in process, ingest and delivery, and archives through the Lattus, LTO tape and Q-Cloud services. It can also run through a variety of production and archive options, including multistream 4K editing and extended online storage utilizing object storage technology to cloud- and tape-based archiving.

NEW YORK—Snell Advanced Media is preparing to make its first stop at CCW since it rebranded from Quantel and Snell. SAM plans to show a number of its products for companies business and operational needs.

The Kahuna IP switcher is one of the products that SAM intends to show at the conference. The Kahuna is now offered as either an all-IP or standard SDI system. Another new IP system is the ICE IP for playout. The ICE IP unit adds IP I/O capability and incorporates all the operational, technical, regulatory and commercial functionality required for broadcast playout. The ICE can also integrate with the Morpheus playout automation system.

SAM will also display the Enterprise sQ system for news and sports production. The Enterprise sQ ecosystem contains workflow, control, editing and media asset management components. It can also integrate with the LiveTouch sports highlights and replay solution.

The Sirius 830 routing switcher and Quantel Rio with V3 software are also part of SAM’s presentation.

WAYNE, N.J.—JVC is preparing its ProHD and 4KCAM camera lines, as well as its latest Blu-ray/hard disc drive combo desk and range of monitors for CCW 2015.

GY-LS300

One of the cameras JVC is readying for the conference is the GY-LS300 4KCAM Super 35 handheld, which offers “JVC Log” gamma setting , Cinema 4K (4096x2180) and Cinema 2K (2048x1080) recording modes. Exclusively on the GY-LS300 is JVC’s Variable Scan Mapping technology that adapts the camera’s CMOS sensor for native support of MFT, PL and EF mount lenses. It also provides the Prime Zoom feature.

The GY-HM200 and GY-HM170 4KCAM cameras are also set to be on display. Each camera features a new slow motion mode that records HD footage at up to 120 fps; the update will be available starting in December. All three 4KCAM cameras include a histogram to verify brightness distribution, as well as 70 Mbps recording mode.

JVC’s pair of ProHD camcorders, GY-HM890 and GY-HM850, are also set for CCW. Both cameras include an interchangeable Fujinon wide angle 20x zoom lens, three CMOS sensors, F11 sensitivity, and a built-in HD streaming engine with Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity for live HD transmission to hardware decoders. The GY-HM890 is able to be used for both ENG, studio or multi-camera field production with a 68-pin connection that accommodates JVC fiber or multi-core camera modules.

The new SR-HD2700 Blu-ray/hard disc drive combo deck that will be on hand was designed for duplication and disc authoring of Blu-ray or DVD discs. JVC will also display its DT-X92HX2, DT-X92H and DT-X92F monitors.

NEW YORK—Nugen Audio is preparing its latest audio and loudness management tools for CCW 2015. Among the products the company intends to show are new upmixing technologies, Adobe Premiere panel support, and ProRes/.mov support.

One of the new technologies Nugen Audio will have on hand at the conference is a full Adobe Premiere integration of its LM-Correct 2 loudness quick-fix tool. The integration provides the LM-Correct 2 with a fully integrated Common Extensibility Platform panel thanks to the Adobe CEP, allowing users to manage loudness analysis and correction without needing to leave the Premiere editing environment.

Halo Upmix

Also new from Nugen is a ProRes extension option for the LMB processor, a batch loudness analysis and correction software. The extension allows LMB to automatically fix PCM audio within a ProRes or .mov container, leaving video and metadata untouched. The LMB processor can also now automate delivery of loudness-compliant audio in a range of ProRes and .mov workflows.

Nugen Audio’s new upmixing system, the Halo Upmix, is also set to be on display. The Halo is the first produced based on Nugen’s new processes for upmixing stereo audio to 5.1/7.1 surround. Available in Avid AAX, VST and AU formats, Halo automates the creation of a stereo-to-5.1/7.1 downmix-compatible upmix with center channel management and spatial density controls. The unit combines several technologies, including frequency- and time-domain energy distribution and neural network artificial intelligence, for various upmix goals.

Other demonstrations from Nugen Audio will include support for Leq(m) loudness measurement as an update for the VisLM-H 2 loudness meter, LM-Correct 2 loudness quick-fix tool, and LMB Processor. There will also be a demo of Site, a new floating license system for license management of the company’s line of audio upmixing and loudness tools.

NEW YORK—At CCW next week, Linear Acoustic plans to showcase its latest products for audio processing and Audio over IP. Among the products the company plans to show are the AERO.soft enterprise class TV audio processor and AERO.10 DTV audio processor.

The AERO.soft features the same processing engines as Linear Acoustic’s AERO.100, 1000, and 2000, with an optional Dolby coding while also supporting the AoIP transition. It features customizable I/O, audio and loudness control and logging. The AERO.soft engine can host eight AEROMAX 5.1 or AEROMAX 2.0 processing instances.

AERO.10

Meanwhile, the AERO.10 is an audio processor supporting up to 10 channels of PCM audio via AES, SDI or stereo analog I/O. It also comes with the same AERO.100, 1000 and 2000 processing engine. Tools include AEROMAX loudness and dynamics control, UPMAX II automatic upmixing and downmixing algorithms, as well as ITU and EBU compliant loudness metering and logging. Downloadable 7.5 day rolling and event-based logs include multiple ITU-R BS.1770-3 loudness measurements, as well as true peak values.

The Linear booth, located at stand 1402, will also feature several AoIP products from Telos Alliance partners. This includes PathfinderPRO, the xNode product family, and xSelector. The IP-Audio Driver PC software, which allows multiple channels of stereo PC audio to be sent to and from Axia networks, and the iProbe Audio Network management software will also be on hand.

PORTLAND, ORE.—Apantac, an openGear partner and provider of multiviewers, video walls, extenders and signal processing technology, plans to showcase multiple of its 4K systems at CCW 2015.

T#

One of the products on display will be the T# 4K capable multiviewer. Available in three sizes—1RU, 2RU and 4RU—with 16 pre-configured models that can also be expanded with additional input or outputs boards. Each board is interchangeable between all three frame sizes. The T# can also support JPEG2000, SMPTE-2022-6, H.264 and HDMI.

Apantac’s OG-MiniQ four input multiviewer will also be on display. Designed for the openGear platform, the OG-MiniQ offers four auto-detect 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and supports up to 10 modules for up to 40 inputs on a single openGear frame. It also supports 4K inputs and outputs.

Apantac will also show a pair of converters at CCW, the Micro-4K-DP and Micro-4K Down converter. The Micro-4K-DP is a true 4K/HD monitoring converter that supports 4K 60Hz at 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 with Displayport 1.2 output. Available as a standalone and card system for openGear, the Micro-4K Down converter down-converts professional 4K/UHD signals to HD for supporting 4K on both HD and HDMI devices.

NEW YORK—IP has been a hot topic at all the major shows in 2015, and CCW shouldn’t be much different. EVS will do its part to take on the subject with demonstrations of its IP4Live, a strategic approach to the IP transition. The demonstration will show how IP4Live addresses business needs for management of hybrid SDI/IP workflows, integration of off-the-shelf networking equipment and ensuring interoperability with other technology providers.

Part of EVS’ IP strategy is DYVI, an IT-based switcher that maximizes creative resources. The switcher combines an operational interface with high-end functions for studios. DYVI’s remote production possibilities allow for cross-campus and cross-continent delivery.

EVS’ XS media production server will also be on display. The system features 12-channel capacity with a wide range of codec support. The XT3 server also features extended user capabilities for Dual LSM and offers SuperMotion and high-frame rate camera configurations.

The company also plans to debut version 7 of its live production software suite, IPDirector. The suite showcases advanced news playback tools and multicamera ingest stream-to-storage capabilities in addition to comprehensive content metadata, search, enrichment, exchange and contribution.

In addition, EVS plans to show its Ingest Funnel, a portal and single interface that transforms, legalizes and masters all ingest formats and content for ready-to-air, archive and post-production formats. It will also have its C-Cast multimedia distribution system, a cloud-based SaaS platform that creates and delivers new content franchises to connected devices and OTT environments.

WUPPERTAL, GERMANY—Riedel has announced its slate of products it will be bringing to CCW 2015, highlighted by three of its latest, the MediorNet MicroN, the Tango TNG-200, and the RSP-2318 Smartpanel.

MicroN

Riedel’s MicroN is an 80 G media distribution network device for MediorNet media transport and management systems. MicroN is a high-density signal interface that works with the MediorNet MetroN and features an array of audio, video and data inputs and outputs, including 24 SD/HD/3G-SDI I/Os, two MADI optical digital audio ports, Gigabit Ethernet port, two sync reference I/Os, and eight 10 Gb MediorNet high-speed links. The MicroN can come as a fully networked MediorNet device or as a point-to-point edition.

The Tango TNG-200 is a networked-based platform that offers support for Ravenna/AES67 and AVB standards. The system features its own dedicated intercom application; comes with a high-resolution, full-color TFT display; and has intuitive front panel controls that can recall presets and adjust audio levels. It also has two integrated Riedel digital partylines, two Ravenna/AES67- and AVB-compatible ports, two Ethernet ports, one option slot, and redundant power supplies.

Designed to serve as a multifunctional user interface, the RSP-2318 Smartpanel features three high-resolution, sunlight-readable, multitouch color displays; stereo audio; a multilingual character set; and 18 keys in 1 RU. Ravenna/AES67 and AVB connectivity are standard, with AES3 over CAT/coax optional. Additional features include exchangeable headset connectors for mono and stereo applications; an integrated power supply; individual volume controls; two USB ports; two Ethernet connectors; GPIO; audio I/O; an option slot; removable gooseneck microphone; SD card slot; and HDMI output.

Riedel also plans to show its Artist Digital Matrix Intercom, MediorNet Compact, and STX-200 Professional Skype Interface.

NEW YORK—LiveU is preparing to demonstrate its new plug-and-play live streaming bonded system, LiveU Solo, at CCW 2015, in addition to other products for uplinks, encoding and ENG vehicle technology.

LiveU Solo

The Solo enables user to live-stream into any web streaming workflow by automatically connecting to content delivery networks like YouTube and Wowza Streaming Cloud. The Solo can be managed and controlled remotely through a web interface or smart device.

Other products LiveU will have on hand include the LU200, a fully bonded field uplink unit that uses Wi-Fi, LAN, satellite and cellular bonding technology for mobility and resiliency. With a two-modem bonded system, the LU200 is compatible with any camera and can turn it into a live-streaming device.

The LU200e is a video encoder that enables streaming for web distribution, point-to-point and point-to-miltipoint. It can stream content to the cloud or physical server using Wi-Fi, LAN and optional cellular bonding to manage multiple streams and devices remotely.

LiveU will also display its next generation cellular and hybrid ENG vehicle technology with its partner Accelerated Media Technologies. The new tech increases network reception for live HD video transmission on-the-go and allows the truck to wirelessly connect any LiveU pack to a LiveU Xtender and satellite with distances of more than 1,000 feet within the line of sight.

Mike Savello, LiveU Americas’ vice president of sales, is also scheduled to take part in a panel for “The KA Band Revolution in News Gathering” on Nov. 12 at 3 p.m.

NEW YORK—There’s no one thing that is drawing nearly 7,000 attendees to the 2015 Content Communications World conference.

And that’s exactly the point.

CCW, featuring SATCON—which is held Nov. 11–12 in conjunction with InfoComm Connections at the Javits Convention Center, has a scope and a focus like no other event in the professional video industry. Sessions on content creation merge into panels on satellite security and then jump into workshops on audio/video connectivity and back again.

The redesigned two-day conference and exhibition—which was acquired by NAB Show in 2013—stands apart because of its wide reach: spanning the contrasting yet interconnected worlds of satellite communications, content creation and communications technology.

“CCW provides a unique opportunity to efficiently experience some of the ‘best of’ [experiences that can be found at] the NAB Show,” said Chris Brown, executive vice president of conventions and business operations for NAB. “It provides a comprehensive expo as well as strong educational content, presented in a way that allows participants to get their arms fully around the technologies and trends that are driving change in media and entertainment. [It offers] a chance to take a deeper dive with both supplier partners and in terms of learning opportunity.”

INCREASING CROSSOVER
The show has experienced a steady pace of growth over the last few years, and flourished again after the announcement in November 2014 that InfoComm International would co-locate its InfoComm Connections event with CCW and SATCON in 2015. The result is an expanded show that reaches a wider audience via panels, sessions and workshops showcasing the intersection of these industries.

“CCW and SATCON have been complementary events for a number of years; InfoComm Connections is a new addition that we are very excited about because of the event’s great reputation,” Brown said. “With the increasing crossover that exists between broadcast, corporate communications and live production, we see this audience as driving great synergy across every element of the overall event.”

The show also addresses the real-world blending that has occurred between the broadcast, IT and communications disciplines, according to Brown. “SATCON addresses the unique challenges and opportunities that exist within the satellite industry, and given the important role satellite services continue to play in media and entertainment and the broader communications space, we think having SATCON tied to CCW and now InfoComm Connections brings another important community to the experience in New York City,” Brown said.

Brandon Berger, chief digital officer for Ogilvy and Mather will keynote the Wednesday morning workshop.

INTERNET OF THINGS & MARKETING
One example is the session “The Internet of Things,” held the first day of the show, which will delve into the myriad ways that fiber, wireless and satellite communications can be used to make the evolving Internet of Things, or “IoT,” work together seamlessly.

The convention will introduce several new panels and sessions, such as the half-day workshop “Advertising Outlook: Trends in Content and Technology” that will focus on programmatic media buying, the evolution of short-form video advertising and consumption trends.

The fickle and oft-changing realm of advertising will be thread across the show in numerous areas, most significantly with the Wednesday morning workshop keynote address given by Brandon Berger, the chief digital officer of advertising firm Ogilvy and Mather. Berger’s keynote, titled “A View from 35,000 Feet” will will discuss how technology is enabling distributors and brands to reach consumers faster than ever before, and will discuss what this new paradigm actually means as it pertains to the dynamics between the parties involved—what advertisers and consumers are thinking about, and rather, what they should be thinking about.

“As content further decouples from distribution, what does it mean for the industry, and what does it mean for the future of content and advertising?” Berger asked. “In a direct sense, what does it mean for the relationship between consumers and advertisers?” The session will examine solutions that the industry needs to think about on behalf of consumers and broadcasters.

Other new offerings this year include the Digital Asset Management 2.0 workshop, which will tackle the major issues facing DAM and will look at real-world ways of incorporating marketing, automation, analytics, ROI and future casting into a business.

HITS BROADCAST IT SUMMIT
Previous events will return as well, including one of the more popular programs: the HITS Broadcast IT Summit, a grouping of sessions and panels that touch on key issues in broadcast, production, publishing and advertising. To kick off the event—and attempt to put a stopper on the theory that television is a fading institution—will be a keynote address from Michael Wollf, whose new book “Television is the New Television” was released last summer. Wolff will look at consumer habits, market conditions and disruptive technologies that are confronting the theory that the Web, social media and various mobile platforms are replacing television when it comes to ad dollars.

Other sessions within the HITS Summit will address the challenges of integrating and providing consistency across a platform, both in terms of dollars and technology. The panel discussion “Generating $ and Sense Across Platforms” will explore data analytics, advertising IDs and the ability to leverage the information gained from devices to evolve consumer engagement measurement.

As it has in other arenas, the cloud is playing a increasing role in broadcast and media, an issue that will be raised in the session “The New Cloud: Collaboration by the Numbers.” Cloud platforms have allowed media and entertainment companies to increase internal collaboration, an issue that panelist speaker Jeff Davidson with Viacom will discuss, along with the way that emerging software and advances in the enterprise can continue to drive efficiencies in content management.

OTHER KEYNOTES OF NOTE
In addition to IT, the conference will look at other key technologies impacting the industry, from high dynamic range to virtual reality and its kin augmented reality, which will be highlighted in the session “Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and 360: The Future at Hand.” The panel will offer a review of today’s immersive storytelling experiences and will touch on the ways that these platforms can better reach a much more mainstream audience. The CCW keynote on Wednesday morning will be given by Steve Mosko, chairman of Sony Pictures Television, who will touch on the changing television landscape.

The conference also has a significant focus on satellite technologies, ranging from introductory sources like the “Fundamentals of Satellite Communications Systems” and “DTH Around the World.” The SATCON keynote address will be given by John Celli, president of Space Systems Loral, who will discuss the trends and challenges facing the satellite industry.

In addition to the co-location of CCW and SATCON with InfoComm Connections, post-production professionals will have access to their own two-day workshop during the New York Post|Production Conference, a training program designed for editors, producers, graphic artists and new media specialists.

WESTFORD, MASS.—Artel Video Systems, a provider of IP- and fiber-based media transport systems, will head to the Big Apple for CCW 2015 with its new DigiLink DL4120 chassis for switching and management.

MARLOW, ENGLAND—TSL Products looks to turn up the noise on its new audio monitoring systems at CCW 2015, specifically its redesigned Monitor Plus Audio series. The company also plans to demonstrate its recently announced Virtual Panel add-on to the TallyMan control system.

The new MPA systems are available in two models: Solo, which offers the ability to listen to any channel, and Mix, which allows the creation of a simple monitoring mix. Both models feature a shallow unit depth of 100mm and come with a built-in web server that enables all units to be configured, monitored and controlled remotely through an intuitive web interface. PANGBOURNE, ENGLAND—Marquis Broadcast has announced it will bring a pair of its workflow products to CCW in New York, the Project Parking version 4 and Edit Bridge.

Project Parking version 4 is an archive and retrieve system that has been developed to become a complete Avid storage management system. The unit monitors how media storage is used, regularly reports usage, shows usage over time, in addition to archiving projects and executing analysis in the background.

NEW YORK—When CCW 2015 kicks off in a couple of weeks, Media Global Links will be in attendance to showcase its latest IP transport products.

Media Links plans to demo 4K transport over IP with a live feed generated from a Hitachi UHD 4K camera. It will also have its new MDP3010 IP to JPEG decoder and transport systems for networks things like public Internet.

WASHINGTON—NAB’s Content and Communications World is bringing the Starz, as executives from the cable network and members of the creative team from its show ‘Power’ are scheduled to speak at the upcoming convention.

‘Power’ creator and executive producer Courtney Kemp Agboh and Starz senior vice president of production Melissa Harper will sit down for a conversation to provide an inside look at the risks and rewards in producing a drama series, as well as offer insight into the creative and logistical processes behind producing a series set in New York City.

Agboh’s credits include shows ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘The Bernie Mac Show.’ ‘Power’ is preparing for its third season on Starz, all of which Agboh has served as the showrunner for.

In addition to ‘Power,’ Harper has overseen production on Starz shows including ‘Black Sails,’ ‘Outlander,’ ‘Da Vinci’s Demons,’ ‘Boss’ and ‘Spartacus.’

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.—As part of the company’s Fiber First initiative, MuliDyne has announced that it will display a number of new transceiver systems at CCW 2015. Among the products will be new versions of the company’s camera-mounted, rack mountable and standalone audio and video signal transceivers, as well as a new signal transport module for PTZ camera systems.

MultiDyne will showcase new features for its HD-3500 transceivers, including Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and new sync functions. With a Gigabit Ethernet connection, the HD-3500 can control pan, tilt and zoom cameras from up to nearly two miles away over a single-mode fiber-optic cable. The GigE option will also benefit streaming video applications and the fast transport of signals over a local area network. The new sync feature allows users to sync multiple cameras with multiple HD-3500 units during live or studio productions.

Universal HUT

The Universal SMPTE HUT is set to be displayed as well. This latest addition to the SMPTE HUT line is half the size of a traditional HUT system and works with a majority of SMPTE hi-def and 4K cameras. Like other HUT systems, the Universal HUT is used as a fiber adaptor power supply that can stretch a SMPTE camera chain for miles.

There will also be new features on display for MultiDyne’s SilverBack fiber optic system, including the expansion of usability with Juice over SMPTE Hybrid cable for the SilverBack-II. The new Juice power, which was increased from 56 to 300 volts will move signals farther over standard SMPTE Hybrid cables. Users will also be able to use the Local Application Control protocol cameras. New features will be available in Spring 2016.

In addition, MultiDyne has developed a new fiber-optic video signal transport module for PTZ cameras. The system includes a transmitter integrated into the bottom of a camera’s housing and a HD-3500 receiver on the other end to convert HD video signal. Once converted to optical, the video signals can travel almost two miles on a single fiber cable.

WAYNE, N.J.—Fujinon’s Optical Devices division has announced that it will showcase its new 4K UHD series at the upcoming CCW 2015 show, including its 25-300mm Cabrio zoom lens with detachable drive unit.

FAREHAM, ENGLAND—After it takes part in SMPTE 2015, which is currently underway in Los Angeles, SGL will be making a stop at CCW 2015 to demo a number of new and updated products. ALAMEDA, CALIF.—Clear-Com has no strings with its new wireless intercom systems and IP-based intercom connectivity, which it will show at the upcoming Content & Communications World 2015 conference in New York. Among the products Clear-Com intends to show are the DX410, FreeSpeak II 2.4GHz, and LQ-R.

DX410

The DX410 is a two-channel 2.4GHz digital wireless intercom system that features 7kHz wideband audio with a miniaturized beltpack and All-in-One wireless headset. It also features 2- and 4-wire bridging and 2-wire auto-nulling.

Clear-Com’s FreeSpeak II 2.4GHz is a new distributed wireless system. FreeSpeak II is able to operate as a standalone system with up to 20 full-duplex wireless beltpacks connected to a single station for point-to-point and group communications. The base station can mix 1.9GHz and 2.4GHz system components in the same system. The system also features Active Transceiver Antennas, giving the beltpack-to-base station a distance range of up to 3,200 feet. The full-duplex digital beltpack features up to five communication routes, four programmable pushbuttons and a replay button, two rotary encoders, an internal antenna and can run for 18-hours battery time.

In addition, the company plans to show LQ-R IP interface devices. Available in four or eight ports in a compact 1RU form factor, the system can extend or link 2-wire/4-wire intercom and audio systems over LAN, WAN or IP networks to remote locations. All devices can support eight 4-wire connections, four 2-wire connections, or four 2-wire and four 4-wire connections in a single unit. The 2-wire option is compatible with Clear-Com and RTS TW systems.

NEW YORK—Focusing on how channels can be packaged, delivered and branded, Pixel Power is planning to highlight its StreamMaster software at the upcoming Content & Communications World event in New York.

Pixel Power’s StreamMaster software provides all the requirements of a channel playout device—including multi-level 3D graphics, squeezebacks and hot starts, and secondary events—in a software package that runs on standard IT hardware. The software can run in a virtualized environment in a data center or hosted on a dedicated hardware with video I/O cards to fit into an SDI environment. StreamMaster’s open software basis allows it to readily integrated with third-party automation, asset management and workflow systems.

Like other TVU products, the TVU One features Inverse StatMux Plus technology to deliver live HD-quality picture with sub-second latency. It accomplishes this through multiple transmission mediums including cellular, satellite, microwave, MIMO Mesh, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and BGAN. The IP newsgathering transmitter also includes Smart VBR technology and the TVU.264 video codec.

The TM8200 backpack transmitter combines the Inverse StatMux Plus advanced Forward Error Correction algorithm with the TVU264 H.264 encoding engine to provide maximum bandwidth in each network connection to users. The unit supports multiple 3G/4G LTE, microwave, satellite, Wi-Fi and BGAN data connections. It also comes in two alternate versions with integrated Vislink hybrid microwave and MIMO Mesh microwave.

Other TVU products set to be on display include the MLink cellular 3G/4G LTE, satellite and microwave uplink transmitter, TVU Anywhere, TVU Grid, and TVUMe.

WESTFORD, MASS.—Artel will be on hand at the upcoming CCW 2015 conference to showcase a trio of products and their integration and interoperability. The three products—the DigiLink, Fiberlink and Scan Do—enable customers to design and deploy a complete contribution media transport system.

The DigiLink line features a new DL4120 1RU chassis with integrated 20x20 3G routing, Ethernet switching, and chassis management capabilities. There will also be DigiLink’s 9-Port Ethernet aggregators and optical transceivers with VLAN trunking and tagging capabilities for video and Ethernet data streams for routing across networks. A dual-port L-Band demodulator, capable of receiving two L-Band signals and converting them to DVB-ASI, will be on display as well.

Fiberlink

The Fiberlink six-channel HD/SD/ASI multiplexer is also set to be demonstrated. The TX/RX pair of 1RU chassis can aggregate up to six asynchronous HD-SDI, SD-SDI and DVB-ASI video feeds into a single wavelength for transport across fiber or managed optical networks.

Artel will also showcase IP, 4K, Ethernet and JPEG 2000 technology.

CHAMPAIGN, ILL.—Cobalt Digital will attend the upcoming Content and Communications World 2015 conference where it will show a pair of new products. One is updated version of its ancillary data monitoring probe, and the other is a RGB color-space correction and dual-channel frame sync card.

The 9978-ANC-MON ancillary data monitoring probe helps validate and ensure expected presence and handling of ancillary data in SDI streams. This new version features a new interface to provide 15 customizable status fields and boxes. Five timecode burn status boxes are also available. The update also includes SCTE104 logging, showing the last three messages received. In addition, the card is able to support an on-screen display of the dial-norm metadata for a user-selectable Dolby pair, displays measured LKFS, and supports closed captioned decoding/overlay.

Also to be on display is the 9922-2FS 3G/HD/SD-SDI dual-channel frame sync card. This card provides audio and video processing, AES/analog audio embedding and de-embedding and CVBS I/O with two signal paths of frame sync on a single openGear card. Features of the 9922-2FS is the ability to add RGB color correction, set auto-changeover to invoke failure for basic input loss, and “moving-box” insertion over input video or internally generated test patterns for active picture verification. Cobalt’s text-to-speech software, +TTS, is licensable to the 9922-2FS card.
