WASHINGTON—Proposals for technical papers and panels are now being accepted for the 2026 NAB Broadcast Engineering and IT (BEIT) Conference, part of the 2026 NAB Show, held April 18-22, 2026, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The conference is an unparalleled opportunity for industry professionals to present their expertise at the premier broadcast, media and entertainment event.

The NAB BEIT Conference is designed for broadcast engineers, technicians, technology managers, developers, contractors, equipment manufacturers, consultants and researchers. The conference will address current and technical topics, with a forward-looking emphasis on the evolution of technology across radio, television, digital and the broader media and IT ecosystem.

Papers selected for the NAB BEIT Conference will also be published in the “Proceedings of the 2026 NAB BEIT Conference” in April 2026.

Submissions are required to fall under one of the NAB BEIT Conference’s focus areas, including:

Proposals must be submitted by Friday, Nov. 14, 2025. Incomplete or late proposals will not be considered. Notifications will be sent to accepted presenters by Jan. 12, 2026.

NAB Show is committed to ensuring diverse representation within its programming and encourages diverse voices from various backgrounds to submit proposals. Call for Student Papers Now Open
In partnership with the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BTS), graduate and undergraduate students (18+ years old) are invited to submit papers for the NAB BEIT Conference.

Papers must align with one of the NAB BEIT categories and will be reviewed alongside professional submissions. The selected best student paper will be presented during the NAB BEIT conference and published in the Proceedings. The best student paper award will be presented at the NAB BEIT Opening Session at the 2026 NAB Show, with travel assistance provided to the winner.

Student papers must be submitted by the same deadline as NAB BEIT submissions — Nov. 14, 2025 — via the NAB BEIT Conference Student Paper Submission Portal.

General Call for NAB Show Submissions Also Opens
Proposals and abstracts for the broader 2026 NAB Show conference sessions, panels, show floor theaters and speakers are also now being accepted. The full list of trends and topics, along with the submission form, can be found here.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Nov. 14, and selected submissions will be notified on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026.

IBC has launched its 2023 Call for Technical Papers. Winners will be announced at the IBC Awards, which will take place during the 2023 IBC Show at the RAI in Amsterdam, Sept. 15-28. Deadline for submitting the synopsis is Feb. 10.

“IBC Technical Papers present original, novel research on solutions to real world problems faced by the international broadcast and digital media industry and are non-commercial,” the association said.

“The Technical Papers Programme forms an integral part of the content programmes at IBC and we welcome entries from all industry sectors across the media, entertainment and technology sector and from every discipline, whether you are a professional, or a professor, a member of an R&D team, working alone or with a global brand and from across any part of the broadcast, communications, electronic media and entertainment fields.”

Interested parties should submit a 300-word synopsis giving a clear and concise overview of the concept that will be the key topics of the paper, highlighting what is unique and explaining its background. All submissions are rigorously reviewed by a panel of professional experts, IBC said. Papers accepted for presentation at the IBC Conference have the opportunity to win the Best Conference Paper Award, presented at the IBC Awards during the 2023 IBC Show.

LOS ANGELES & WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—The call for technical manuscripts proposals has been issued by SMPTE for the SMPTE 2019 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition. The organization has set a submission deadline of April 30 for abstracts.

Proposed papers must be informational, high-quality and address technical theory, research, innovation, application or practice of the evolving technologies associated with the media and entertainment industry. The committee is ideally looking for forward-thinking and research-based proposals that address cutting-edge technology; there is also a special interest in proposals from next-generation storytellers and industry leaders, including student papers. Commercial or promotional papers will not be considered.

Examples of topics that SMPTE would consider for papers include UHD, HDR, 4K and high frame rate; future of media distribution; media infrastructure and control; cloud and virtualized media processing; image acquisition and processing; advances in display technologies; future media technologies; and more. The authors for selected proposals will present at the 2019 conference during program sessions that cover advancements in current technology and future-looking developments in media, content creation, image and sound, and other related arts and sciences.

In addition, SMPTE will publish accepted manuscripts following the conference to the SMPTE Digital Library. Video of the conference presentations will also be posted to SMPTE’s YouTube channel. Submitted manuscripts will also be peer reviewed for possible publication in the SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal.

This year’s program committee will be co-chaired by SMPTE Education Vice President Sara J. Kudrle and Thomas Edwards, vice president engineering and development at Fox.

Following the April 30 deadline, the final proposal selection and notification to authors will be done by June 15. Selected presenters must be able to provide an electronic version of the final manuscript no later than Sept. 20.

The SMPTE 2019 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition will run from Oct. 21-26 in Los Angeles.

EXTON, PA.—Paper proposals are now being accepted for the Fall Technical Forum at SCTE-ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2018. Put on by the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, the International Society of Broadband Experts, NCTA—The Internet & Television Association and CableLabs, the Forum is looking for proposals in 10 categories that will be presented during the Expo.

The categories that this year’s Fall Technical Forum will highlight are Wireline Access Network; Wireless Access Network; Internet of Things; digitizing the customer experience; cloud & virtualization; operational transformation; business services; video services; virtual reality and augmented reality; and security.

Proposals will be judged by the Expo 2018 Program Committee, which is chaired by Kevin Hart, executive vice president and chief product and technology officer for Cox Communications. The proposals are due by March 30.

Selected papers, in addition to being part of the Forum, will be published in the “Fall Technical Forum Proceedings” archival body of technical literature. Also, presenters for the Innovation Theater will be determined from the Call for Papers.
