                                <p><strong>SAN JOSE, Calif.</strong>—Harmonic has announced that telecommunications service provider Claro Perú, which is part of the América Móvil group, has expanded its use of Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Broadband Platform for the launch of a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) offering that sustainably delivers next-gen broadband and 10G speeds.</p><p>"We&apos;re excited to introduce a new FTTH offering that fuels faster, more reliable broadband experiences for customers while significantly reducing our space, power and cooling costs as we expand our service areas," said Nelson Moscoso, deputy director of fixed services network at Claro Perú. "We have successfully trialed the FTTH offering utilizing Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Platform in our Lima Hub, and we&apos;re ready to go live by early next year."</p><p>Claro Perú previously deployed Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Platform in a distributed access architecture (DAA) with virtualized CMTS software, Reef Remote PHY (R-PHY) shelves and Ripple R-PHY nodes.                                 <p><strong>SAN JOSE, Calif.</strong>—Harmonic has announced that Malta-based telco operator Melita has selected Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Broadband Platform to deliver multi-gigabit broadband services.</p><p>Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Platform virtualizes the access network, providing Melita with a sustainable broadband architecture that will enable continuous improvements to upstream and downstream bandwidth capacity.</p><p>"Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Platform will complement our existing network, giving us a flexible, scalable foundation to provide the fastest, most reliable broadband services in Malta. We will have the agility to more efficiently meet bandwidth requirements and improve service quality for our subscribers," said Simon Montanaro, chief technical officer at Melita.                                 <p><strong>SAN JOSE, Calif.</strong>—Canadian technology and media company Rogers Communications has chosen Harmonic to power its next-generation multi-gigabit broadband services using Harmonic’s CableOS cloud-native converged core platform.</p><p>"At Rogers, it is our top priority to deliver the latest cutting-edge technology and reliable broadband experiences to our customers," said Luciano Ramos, senior vice president of development and core engineering at Rogers. </p><p>"We&apos;re proud to be working with Harmonic to bring leading DAA [distributed access architecture] and virtualized solutions for our cable and converged FTTH [fiber to the home] services.                                 <p><strong>SAN JOSE, Calif.—</strong>Harmonic continues to rack up customer wins for its virtualized converged cable access platform solution, CableOS, announcing deployment with Taiwan’s TWT Digital Communication.</p><p>The operator, which touts 500,000 homes passed, is using the San Jose, Calif.-based tech vendor’s CableOS software solution for delivering DOCSIS 3.1 services. For TWT, CableOS has been deployed in a centralized architecture with Harmonic’s Reef Remote-PHY shelves located in remote facilities. </p><p>TWT has also purchased Harmonic’s Cable OS Central, a cloud management service that provides real-time, data-driven network systems monitoring. </p><p>Harmonic announced during its <a href="https://www.nexttv.com/news/harmonic-revenue-slides-18-in-q3" target="_blank">third-quarter earnings</a> call in October that CableOS is now controlling the 1s and 0s that go into 2.1 million cable modems from 38 different cable operators around the world, a 122% increase from a year prior. Of those 2.1 million modems, 1.4 are served by distributed access architecture (DAA) hardware and software products provided by Harmonic. </p><p>"TWT Digital Communication has created a broadband network that will ensure superior service quality for customers today and in the future," said Gil Katz, senior vice president of cable access business operations for Harmonic, in a statement. "As the most trusted virtualized cable access platform deployed worldwide, the CableOS Platform will help TWT Digital Communication adapt to fluctuations in broadband usage efficiently and economically.”</p><p>Added Kady Hsiao, vice president of TWT: ”Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Platform enables us to address spikes in network traffic with increased velocity, scalability and efficiency.                                 <p><strong>SAN JOSE, Calif.—</strong>Harmonic announced extensions to its CableOS access platform, including a major enhancement that enables cable operators to deploy compute resources via their IP access networks and leverage distributed cloud-native applications, such as 5G OpenRAN, flexible DOCSIS MAC and video CDN.</p><p>The combination of the new features and its cloud-native DOCSIS and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) XGS and 10G EPON applications, raises the bar for access platforms, the company said.</p><p>"Multi-access edge computing is going to play a pivotal role in the future of wireline and 5G wireless networks, revolutionizing the cable industry&apos;s service delivery opportunities," said Gil Katz, senior vice president, Cable Access Business Operations at Harmonic. "We&apos;re excited to again break new ground, offering the first cloud-native solution capable of simultaneously running flexible MAC, Open Caching streaming video delivery and other critical applications at the deep edge of the access network.”</p><p>Harmonic developed its new edge compute module in partnership with Intel, the company said. It is designed to be deployed in the same Ripple+ network edge platform (also called a node) as the company’s remote-PHY and remote-OLT modules.                                 <p><strong>JONESBORO, Ark.—</strong>Broadband cable provider Ritter Communications has deployed Harmonic’s CableOS virtualized cable access solution and Cable OS Central analytics service to power its high-speed data, voice and video delivery services, the company announced.</p><p>The Harmonic CableOS solution supports DOCSIS 3.1 and a software-based Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS), enabling Ritter Communications to offer exceptional service while reducing OPEX, the company said. </p><p>Converging the three services saves the operator costs related to space, power and cooling, the company added.  </p><p>"To stay competitive, we need to deliver world-class broadband speeds," said Greg Sunderwood, senior vice president of technology at Ritter Communications. "We are actively deploying Remote PHY into our network to increase network capacity, reduce head-end power consumption and significantly improve network quality and performance. Adding Harmonic&apos;s CableOS Central service gives us an insight into potential capacity issues and network anomalies before they happen, to ensure the best possible service for our customers."</p><p>Flexible and scalable, the Harmonic CableOS virtual CMTS (vCMTS) solution allows providers to deploy broadband architecture designed for the future. The system also offers RF port density for centralized architectures.</p><p>Harmonic is currently running trials for the CableOS system at multiple tier-1 cable MSOs in both North America and Europe. The first commercial deployments are expected to take place in Q4 2016.</p>
