PASO ROBLES, Calif.—Blue Lucy, a London-based media technology company, has set up a U.S. division here and named Dina Behar Hevert as vice president for the Americas.

Blue Lucy counts BBC Studios, Banijay Rights and Blue Ant Media among the customers that use its flagship BLAM integration, workflow orchestration and media management product. At this year’s IBC Show in Amsterdam, Blue Lucy launched BOLT, an asset portal that allows executives to receive, review and share content with no need for technical expertise, the company said.

Behar Hevert has worked in the media and entertainment industry for nearly 20 years. She brings a depth of industry knowledge and extensive contacts to Blue Lucy, the company said.

Beginning her career in broadcast transmission roles at Globecast, Fox Sports and The Switch before moving into business development for localization companies including SDI Media, SPG Studios and Deluxe, Behar Hevert most recently worked as vice president of business development for language-customization company The Kitchen, Blue Ant said.

“What attracted me to Blue Lucy is that their products answer a very real need in both the traditional media and entertainment world and in the broader media market,” Behar Hevert said. “In particular, the flexibility they provide for integrating multiple tools into existing technology stacks is really impressive and I am genuinely excited to introduce Blue Lucy’s solutions to the U.S. market.”

As vice president for the Americas, Behar Hevert is responsible for growing the company’s U.S. customer base and recruiting local staff. She reports to CEO Julian Wright and joins the senior management team.

LONDON—Blue Lucy, a cloud-based SaaS solutions developer, will focus on ground-cloud hybrid workflows during IBC 2023, Sept. 15-18, at RAI Amsterdam.

The company’s BLAM is a media and business system integration platform designed to meet the complex production and distribution needs of the multiplatform era. It combines media management, workflow orchestration and operational task management in a single solution, the company said.

The Blue Lucy team will focus on dispelling the perception that entirely cloud-based models are the panacea for all media operators. Blue Lucy will reveal how BLAM’s 450-plus microservices, also known as Blidgets, connect content production tools and business systems to provide harmonized and highly automated production and fulfilment operations. The Blue Lucy team will discuss operational problems or business opportunities that operators are trying to address and demonstrate how BLAM can deliver outcomes-focused solutions at any scale.

Able to be integrated with Pebble’s Marina automation system, Beluga offers targeted file delivery, content preparation and integrated QC workflows.

Beluga focuses on preparing content for playout and distribution. This is done by checking segmentation and program content, allowing for conformance editing, performing QC and generating reports. Beluga also adds transcoding and proxy creation to Marina’s existing toolset. With its web-based interface, teams on the Beluga can interact with the media.

Additional features for the Beluga include advanced traffic/schedule workflows; drag and drop workflow builder; media versioning and replacement; automated or manual file delivery to playout servers, with archive support; metadata synchronization to and from Marina; and integration with post editing systems.

Pebble offers the Beluga in different pre-defined configurations for different workflows, use cases and system sizes.

AMSTERDAM—Blue Lucy has announced that it will unveil new enhancements to its Blue Lucy Asset Management (BLAM) system at the upcoming 2015 IBC Show. Updates to the system include improvements to its media management and video processing workflow capabilities, as well as a new workflow builder tool that offers operational efficiency through automation and user driven workflows.

Using a web-browser interface, BLAM users can build complex operational workflow that access all of BLAM’s core features and multiple plug-ins. The workflows can combine standard automated video processing and content delivery as well as operational user tasks.

BLAM is offered in two implementation strategies. The ‘commercial off-the-shelf’ model is for small to medium operations and is provided with the ‘out of the box’ web-based user experience. For larger operations, Blue Lucy helps define the operational structure and customize the software on the BLAM core and its plug-ins.
