AIMS has announced it will once again collaborate with the Audio Engineering Society (AES) to bring the popular Media-Over-IP Pavilion to the AES New York show, being held October 8-10.

AES New York is collocated with NAB Show NY 2024 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. 

The Media-Over-IP Pavilion will be an exclusive one-day event held on October 9. Following a very successful event last year, AIMS will once again partner with AES again to promote and educate the industry about media networking open standards.

The Media-Over-IP Pavilion will address all professional media networking topics, with particular emphasis on the AES67 standard, specifications in the AIMS Roadmap, and case study presentations. Its focal point will be the Media-Over-IP Pavilion Theater, which will host a continuous program of 30-minute presentations covering the latest developments in this constantly evolving field, the group said. 

AIMs said the call for presentations is open to end users, industry associations, solutions providers, and technology developers, who are invited to share their knowledge and perspectives on how developments in IP networking will impact the Pro Audio, Broadcast and Pro AV industries.

“The Media-Over-IP Pavilion Theater has become a must-see attraction at the AES Show, providing all attendees with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from top media networking experts,” said Terry Holton, chairman of the AIMS Audio Working Group. “We’re excited to bring this unique platform back to New York to educate the industry on the many different aspects of professional media networking.”

NEW YORK—The 143rd Audio Engineering Society International Convention and Exposition promises more synergies of people, ideas and technologies than any AES event in history. That's important to consider, as the modern audio engineer will likely touch down in fields of broadcast and content streaming, networked audio, live sound, recording and music production, audio for games, films and multimedia content—and who knows what else—just within the next year.

Mix with the Masters Mixing Workshops: The AES and Mix with the Masters have teamed together to bring a program of workshops from some of the world’s best engineers and producers for this first-ever AES exhibit floor collaboration. The workshops are held in association with Barefoot Sound, Solid State Logic and Apogee Electronics.

Project Studio Expo: The PSE provides a stage for icons of the industry to offer practical advice and to share knowledge and experience to personal studio owners. The PSE is being hosted in partnership with Sound On Sound magazine and sponsors Focusrite, Genelec and Neumann/Sennheiser.

Broadcast Audio Expo: The BAE sessions cover vital broadcast audio issues in networking, radio and TV studios, outside broadcasts and major events. The Broadcast Audio Expo is being held in partnership with sponsors Yamaha, Neumann/Sennheiser, Clear-Com and Calrec.

NEW YORK—2017 marks a big year for One World Trade Center, as television transmission will be returning to the building. To recognize the event, AES New York has announced it will host an exclusive event that will look at the broadcast operations of One WTC.

Part of the Broadcasting and Streaming Track of the convention, the One WTC event will feature a guided tour by John Lyons, Durst Organization, of the One WTC broadcast facility as it finalizes its preparations for broadcasting before the end of the year. In all, the event will cover the design, development and technology of the facility.

The event is opened to all convention attendees, but there is a limited capacity and requires mandatory pre-registration. Registered convention attendees can begin applying for the event on a first-come, first-serve basis on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. ET. Individual registration only; no plus-one or group options.

AES will host the event on the opening night of AES New York, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

HEBDEN BRIDGE, ENGLAND—Calrec is double dipping at this year’s AES New York show, announcing it will display its products at both the AES New York exhibition and the Broadcast Audio Expo sessions. The pair of products Calrec plans to show at these events are its Brio compact digital audio console and Summa audio console.

Brio

The Brio is the smallest in Calrec’s Bluefin2 family of products, featuring a control surface of 892mm wide, but offers a dual-layer, 36-fader surface with a 15.6-inch HD touchscreen user interface. The console also has illuminating hardware rotary controls; analog and digital I/O and GPIO built into the surface; additional expansion I/O slots; and the ability to connect to and share audio over Calrec’s Hydra2 network.

The Summa console has a 17-inch multitouch screen similar to tablet technology. With its Bluefin2 technology, Summa features a pool of 180 or 128 channel processing paths, eight groups, four mains, 16 auxes and 32 tracks. Its Hyrda2 router core provides the same integral router technology as Calrec’s Apollo and Artemis consoles.

Calrec will be located at stand 631 during AES New York 2017.
