Momentum continues to grow for media industry’s only 4K run held to raise awareness and funding for increased diversity and inclusion. Overall registration was up more than 30% percent over the 4K 4Charity Fun Run held at the 2018 NAB Show, while the number of runners and walkers on the course increased by 33% percent. Now in its fifth year, the 4km (2.49-mile) running and walking event is held worldwide at major industry events including the NAB Show, IBC Show, and the SMPTE Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition. Proceeds from the 4K 4Charity at NAB Show benefit Girls Who Code, a national non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology and change the image of what a programmer looks like and does. AMSTERDAM-- Organizers of the 4K 4Charity Fun Run announced that it raised more than $65,635 in donations at the 2018 IBC Show. AWS Elemental, which organizes the event, said the donations would go to global and local non-profit organizations focused on increasing diversity and inclusion in the media and entertainment industry. The run, which first launched at the 2014 IBC Show, took place in Amsterdam Sept. 15, during the show, drawing 653 supporters from 165 media companies.

Since it began, the 4K 4Charity Fun Run has raised $860,000 and pulled in nearly 9,000 supporters. This year, the number of runners and walkers participating in the 4k rose by 44 percent.

AMSTERDAM--Registration is now open for the 4K 4Charity Fun Run at IBC 2018. The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:00 A.M. in Amstelpark in Amsterdam. For runners who have previously run the course, the start/finish line has been slightly relocated within the park due to nearby construction.

The 2.49-mile run is officially endorsed by the IBC and and the venue is located near the RAI Exhibition Centre, the site of the 2018 IBC Show. The 4K 4 Charity Fun Run was launched at the 2014 IBC Show and also takes place in Portland, Ore., as well as Las Vegas during the annual NAB Show in the spring. Since its founding, the series has raised more than $690,000 in gross proceeds for global and local nonprofits that support increased diversity and inclusion initiatives.

LAS VEGAS—The 2017 NAB Show will be kicking off in two weeks and one of the events during the week will be the 4K 4Charity Fun Run, which recently announced that it has secured a number of sponsors. To date, the event has secured 16 sponsors, a 100 percent increase from the 2016 race, per Elemental.
