LAS VEGAS—TVU Networks is set to premiere the TVU One TM1000G—a new model of its TVU One IP newsgathering transmitter—at the 2018 NAB Show. Weighing just 2.2 pounds, the TVU One TM1000G features an embedded global modem that makes it easier for broadcasters to transmit live coverage of important events, like elections, natural disasters and sporting events, from virtually anywhere in the world.

With the global modem, broadcasters need only insert local SIMs wherever they are into the transmitter and they’re ready to go live. Compared to TVU Networks’ standard model, the TVU One TM1000 IP, the new TM1000G offers increased flexibility, robust functions and hassle-free operation, without sacrificing performance or picture quality.

Previously, depending where in the world the user wanted to broadcast from, the standard model required that a specific set of modems be installed to ensure compatibility with a particular region’s SIMs. This meant that modems had to be swapped out if a broadcaster planned to use it in a country that required a different modem configuration.

The TVU One TM1000G transmitter is available with HEVC video compression and TVU’s patented Inverse Statmux Plus (IS+) transmission algorithm to transmit full HD quality video with a half-second of latency at 3Mbps. And it can transmit simultaneously over multiple connections, including cellular, microwave, WiFi, Ethernet, BGAN and satellite.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. TVU Networks will be in booth C1707.
LAS VEGAS—The 2018 NAB Show will serve as the official launch of Solid State Logic’s (SSL) System T v2.0 software, which puts immersive audio for ATSC 3.0, Dolby Atmos and MPEG-H at the heart of this IP-based broadcast audio production platform’s architecture.

With the emergence of 3D immersive audio in broadcast and film, System T’s new three-axis co-ordinate panning incorporates two- or four-channel overhead speakers into the available channel and bus formats; and positions mono and stereo sources in a 3D sound field. System T can also fine-tune spatial components as multichannel 3D sources are added to the mix.

Completing System T’s immersive feature set is a collection of processing tools and intelligent down-mixing. It also supports formats, such as 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2 and 7.1.4 (with side channels and rear channels), as well as 4.0.4, which is designed for beds and stems to ensure that the center channel remains available for dialogue and commentary.

System T v2.0 also introduces “appified” software, whereby software interface components launch as separate applications that are available across multi-screen control surfaces and PC control stations.

SSL is also introducing the most comprehensive DAW control available in a broadcast console. It makes full use of System T touchscreen and hardware controls and includes a dedicated screen interface for control over the DAW mixer environment and transport controls. SSL will also demonstrate v2.0 with its S500, S300, Tempest Control Rack (TCR) systems, and complete network I/O range, with demos of its SSL Live console.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Solid State Logic will be in booth C3026.
LAS VEGAS—IPV is rolling out its Curator 2.0 asset management software at the 2018 NAB Show, focusing on how this new version allows content creators in any media organization or industry to manage their growing volume of media assets, while improving their overall production workflow.

Configurable as a cloud-based, local or hybrid system, Curator 2.0 enables faster installation due to fewer manual configurations and features integration with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services cloud-hosting platforms. Through cloud integration, the system automatically generates subtitles for assets. This is particularly useful for cost-conscious educational institutions that want to comply with legislation to make video content accessible to all viewers.

Curator 2.0 also features Clip Link Collections, which let users keep track of assets by selecting and adding media to collections that can be sent to specified destinations or shared with colleagues.

Project Versioning has also been added to Curator’s Adobe integration, improving collaboration within the editing software. It also adds project management to ensure that every version is automatically stored and giving producers an overview of important metadata. For even greater control over metadata, Curator 2.0 has a new thesaurus search feature that makes sure everyone on the team is using the same terminology to ensure that the metadata remains accurate.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. IPV will be in booth SL4905.
LAS VEGAS—Ikegami is set to reveal its new HDK-99 3G-Capable (3-CMOS) HDTV Portable Camera at the 2018 NAB Show. As the successor to Ikegami’s HDK-95C, the HDK-99 employs three 2.6 Megapixel high-performance CMOS image sensors for full 1920x1080 HD picture quality, 1000TVL horizontal resolution, SNR of 62dB or more and F11 (59.94Hz) sensitivity.

With its wide dynamic range of over 600 percent, the HDK-99 features an HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) mode that conforms to the ITU-R BT.2100 standard for HDR. HLG can expand the range represented from dark to bright and provide bright pictures with HDR, while achieving rich colors with wide color gamut.

It features native support for a wide range of progressive and interlace formats; a lens aberration correction function that minimizes the loss of resolution and colored edges; and a Quick EZ focus assist that enables operators to make critical focus adjustments. With its docking-style construction, the HDK-99 can be outfitted with several adapters and CCU’s, base stations and control panels.

The HDK-99 also incorporates AXII, Ikegami’s next-generation high-speed digital video processor for HD, 4K, and 8K cameras. AXII performs high-speed processing of super high resolution video signals in multiple formats and frame-rates, with high reliability and low power consumption. The AXII DSP also incorporates a real-time 3D color matrix function for precise color adjustment and 16 axes of the color gamut can be fine-tuned in hue and saturation for live, multi-camera production.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Ikegami will be in booth C7218. The exciter’s “DualCast” technology allows migration from ATSC 1.0 to ATSC 3.0 with a simple license upgrade.

For ATSC 3.0, the exciter supports MFN/SFN, multiple PLPs and TDM or LDM. The QoS-1000RT RF Layer Monitoring Receiver is also available for ATSC 3.0 via a simple upgrade. The receiver, which is a cost-effective, real-time tool for ATSC DTV RF signals, is available in either a 1RU chassis or portable tabletop versions, and features a web-based GUI, coupled with high-precision, near-real-time metrics.

Comark Digital Solutions (CDS), powered by Titan Live ATSC software based encoding, can replace aging ATSC1.0 encoder systems, including channel-sharing requirements, while supporting ATSC 3.0 requirements. CDS supports any resolution from SD to 4K, MPEG2, H264 and HEVC codecs, and HDR, for ATSC 1.0, ATSC 3.0 and OTT output.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Hitachi-Comark will be in booth C4309.
LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, ZOO Digital will demonstrate a new security feature that employs machine learning and facial recognition to automatically obscure all areas of a video stream except for the actors’ faces or mouths, or any other areas necessary for accurate lip-syncing, subtitling and dubbing.

By deliberately spoiling the video, TV and movie assets used for localization would no longer have entertainment value, thereby reducing their value for piracy. The security feature obscures portions of each frame using a process similar to rotoscoping, a visual effects technique used to create a matte for a live action sequence for compositing purposes.

While using rotoscoping to spoil proxies has been around for a while, this manual technique is expensive and time-consuming. By automating the process, the facial recognition feature could be used on all kinds of high-value content, not just major Hollywood releases, for greater content security, without impeding the subtitling and dubbing process. The company also offers encryption, two-factor authentication and individual watermarking solutions.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. ZOO Digital will be in booth SL5724.
LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, SDVI Corporation will demonstrate Rally Gateway and Rally Access, two new features of its Rally media supply chain management platform. As a cloud-based SaaS service, Rally streamlines quality control and optimizes content submission, while lowering costs.

Rally Gateway creates customer-branded content submission portals that serve as automated on-ramps into the media supply chain. The raw materials can come from internal or external content production partners.

With Rally Gateway, content producers submit their material to the supply chain through a secure web interface that automatically logs the arrival and initiates the supply chain and validates compliance with the distributor’s requirements.

Rally Access lets media supply chain managers view issues discovered during preparation and packaging on a familiar, timeline-based interface within Adobe Premiere. It marks segments for rapid evaluation and resolution using metadata that comes from Rally-supported tools, including quality control, compliance, compression and AI engines, like speech to text conversion and visual recognition.

Rally Access also makes it easier to locate segments that may still require manual verification and address them from within Adobe Premiere. Work orders are automatically created to track the progress of manual steps so operators can focus on completing tasks rather than documenting their work.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. SDVI Corporation will be in booth SU12813.
LAS VEGAS—MultiDyne Fiber Optic Solutions plans to debut its scalable, next-generation BullDog II Field Fiber Portable Transport system at the 2018 NAB Show. Compared to the original platform, the new BullDog II scales up or down to suit any user-configuration or signal count. And like its predecessor, it supports long-distance signal distribution between trucks, studios and hard-to-reach production locations requiring remote powered equipment.

BullDog II interoperates with the MultiDyne VF-9000 rackmount fiber transport frame, MultiDyne openGear cards and other BullDog systems. Users can add or remove MultiDyne modules and openGear cards to change video signal counts and increase audio density or Ethernet capacity. It supports multiple video formats (12G, 4K, 3Gb/s, HD/SDI, composite) as well as mic/line audio, intercom, tally, Ethernet, genlock and data. And full camera control is supported using the camera’s RCP via serial or a 10/100GigE Ethernet connection.

The new design integrates a monitor and touchscreen for better signal control and status monitoring between two points. Its compact, lightweight design makes it easier to take on-board trucks or into the field. Users can add Pelican cases, or accessories like handles and rack-mount kits, to protect the gear during transport. MultiDyne will roll out three different frame sizes for single-camera standup interviews to large-scale sporting events, with more to follow.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Multidyne Fiber Optic Solutions will be in booth C6818.
LAS VEGAS—Embrionix will showcase new SMPTE ST2110/2022-6-7-compliant IP core processing and gateway solutions that optimize 4K/UHD IP production at the 2018 NAB Show, as well as ultra-compact, high-density IP multiviewers.

The emMODULAR-48-8 IP aggregation/processing frame moves 4K/UHD over a 25GigE network to enable clean IP switching. Within its 1RU frame, it offers up to 80x 4K/UHD, or 96x 3G miniaturized Embrionix gateways.

Embrionix will also debut a new version of its modular emVIEW products, which are compact, standalone IP throwdown boxes. The product line includes the emVIEW-U-DMI, which installs on the back of an HDMI monitor and features frame sync, audio shuffling at the edge, 4K/UHD support and hitless redundancy.

The emVIEW-U-2-DMI maximizes a 25GigE pipe by providing two distinct HDMI outputs to monitors, while receiving any type of senders, including narrow or wide profile, with control through Ember+, RESTful or NMOS protocols.

The new emFUSION-6 standalone gateway, also set for the show, enables remote control of up to five unmanned camera feeds, camera pan/zoom/tilt parameters and signal returns via a single fiber link. Its two aggregation ports can be used for link redundancy.

A series of new multiviewers will be on hand, including the emQUAD, emSFP-QUAD and emVIEW-6, can be installed on the back of HDMI monitors to enable smart IP monitoring. These high-density, standalone multiviewers use Embrionix software-defined emSFP-QUAD technology to create a mosaic view from four SMPTE ST2110 streams.

Another multiviewer, the emSFP-QUAD, offers a 1RU emMODULAR frame that accommodates 48x quad split views. It can be plugged directly into existing 10GigE IP switches, or deployed in standalone frames. The emVIEW-6 model enables 4x quad views from a compact throwdown box. The modular design can be configured with SDI or HDMI inputs or outputs. All Embrionix solutions are designed to save space, shrink costs and future-proof IP infrastructures.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12.
LAS VEGAS—Core SWX’s new Nano-VBR98 cine battery for select Panasonic cameras, such as the AU-EVA1, will be in the spotlight at the 2018 NAB Show. Weighing just 0.9 pounds and with a capacity of 98wh, the Nano-VBR98 is a 7.4v battery pack with a 12v power tap (2A max load) that lets users power on-camera accessories, such as transmitters and monitors from Teradek, SmallHD and Zacuto.

The Nano-VBR98 is the first battery pack to offer Core’s SmartTap protocol, which allows future integration with devices to utilize the smart battery data in the pack, a feature previously only available in premium brick battery packs. With its four-stage LED power gauge and power tap, the Nano-VBR98 has a typical runtime of five hours and charges on Panasonic chargers.

Core SWX repurposed its Nano brick battery technology into a smaller form to address the needs of the growing small form cine camera market. For example, until now, users of small form cine cameras have had to rig them to use V-mount or Gold Mount battery power, or rely on consumer-grade battery packs, when powering accessories.

Utilizing Panasonic lithium ion cells ensures that the battery will withstand the demands of video production. The company will also showcase other Nano-M batteries, including the Nano-U98 for Sony cameras and one for Canon cameras.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Core SWX will be in booth C5633. For more information, visit www.nabshow.com.

Read up on all of TVT's NAB Show Sneak Peeks and other 2018 NAB Show news here.

LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, Comrex will unveil EarShot, which delivers telephone-based IFB and live studio program audio to field-based remote broadcasts. As a simple hardware solution, EarShot helps TV stations reduce remote IFB costs, while providing greater flexibility.

While most other phone technology has moved to voice-over-IP (VoIP), remote IFB has largely relied on a legacy approach involving banks of telephone auto-couplers connected to expensive analog phone lines. This has left broadcasters paying for a dozen or more POTS lines to provide remote IFB functionality. EarShot pays for itself by eliminating the need for these phone services.

Up to 30 users can listen to program or IFB feeds by calling into EarShot with a mobile phone. It can handle up to four program feeds or two IFB feeds, but for higher fidelity, smartphone apps can be used to pull the audio in studio quality. EarShot, which will be available in mid-2018, can be connected to a low-cost cloud-based VoIP service, or tied to a station's VoIP PBX.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Comrex will be in booth C2330.
LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, The Vitec Group’s Vinten and Sachtler brands will debut the new flowtech 75 camera tripod technology, designed to transform the way camera operators work. It features two-stage carbon-fiber tripod legs, with an easy-to-remove midlevel spreader, rubber feet and a 44-pound payload.

It also features quick-release brakes at the top of the tripod that enable the legs to be deployed simultaneously and it adjusts automatically to the ground’s surface.

A unique hinge-lock mechanism lets users capture extremely low, ground level shots, without needing to bring a second set of “baby legs” to each shoot. With its torsional stiffness, the tripod will not twist during camera-panning movements, especially in motion picture productions.

Sachtler and Vinten will also feature a detachable carry handle and compact, lightweight dolly—two optional flowtech 75 accessories: The dolly features an integral carry handle and foot-operated brakes, while its foldable design allows it to collapse to a compact, easy-to-transport unit. Weighing just 10 pounds, the dolly supports an 88-pound payload and a build radius of 53 centimeters. With the carry handle, customers carry the flowtech tripod securely in one hand and attach it to one of three flowtech accessory docks.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Vinten and Sachtler will be in booth C6025.
LAS VEGAS—Triveni Digital is set to present its StreamScope Portal II analyzer at the 2018 NAB Show. Designed to simplify DTV transport stream troubleshooting, the StreamScope Portal II features a high-res touch-screen interface, rules-based troubleshooting and advanced RF spectrum analysis in a compact, portable hardware system.

The StreamScope Portal II can also be upgraded with ATSC 3.0 analysis capability via StreamScope XM MT software. This enables users to access MPEG quality assurance metrics, including video thumbnails, audio graphs, metadata tables, PID details, EPGs, IP routes, GOP frames and advanced RF spectrum analysis tools. This is important because, with ATSC 3.0, there’s a greater chance that errors can degrade audio and video quality or interrupt services.

This compact, portable unit is ideal for field-testing transport streams at multiple locations. With its convenient, flexible gateway, StreamScope Portal II handles a variety of input options, including Ethernet, ASI and basic or advanced RF and connects to other StreamScope analyzers and remote monitors, and Triveni Digital GuideBuilder metadata management platforms, to assess the health of video distribution plants.

With its video analysis, monitoring and troubleshooting, the StreamScope Portal II cost-effectively handles quality assurance issues as broadcast facilities, and IPTV and cable operations migrate to ATSC 3.0.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Triveni will be in booth N1427.
LAS VEGAS—Primestream will be bringing advanced media processing solutions to the 2018 NAB Show, including IP stream ingest, 4K/UHD workflow and integrated review and approval capabilities.

To accommodate the capture, editing and transcoding of any IP source into SD, HD, 4K and VR/360, Primestream updated its core technologies to ingest IP content into single or multiple self-contained file formats and transcode and move it through production, management and delivery.

Primestream supports transcoding into ProRes, XDCAM, DNxHD, AVC-Intra and H.264, as well as capturing HLS, MPEG DASH, RTP/RTSP, RTMP and SMPTE 2022 IP streams. Users can preview proxies and live recordings within a web browser, manage signal-paths using pre-configured presets, create on-the-fly proxies and begin editing with growing streams in Adobe Premiere Pro.

There will also be a new SaaS-based (software as a service) review and approval system that can be integrated with existing Xchange systems. The browser-based solution provides for on-site control and management with integrated communication with the cloud, including annotations delivered to the Xchange platform. Multiple workflows are supported, with user-defined security modes, such as watermarking and expiration dates, to protect sensitive content.

Primestream’s 4K/UHD workflow, meanwhile, covers ingest to playout and users can build on their specific 4K/UHD workflow needs, including HDR pass-through, live preview and proxy generation.

Primestream will release Xchange Public APIs with signatures and client access keys that allow customers to extend Primestream solutions with third-party integration. And a new centralized configuration module enables on-boarding, provisioning and wizard-assisted installation of major parts of FORK and Xchange platforms and workflows.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Primestream will be in booth SL12111.
LAS VEGAS—The AMB Dolby E Module, the latest option for its AMB audio management batch processor software, will be a central piece of Nugen Audio’s booth at the 2018 NAB show. It enables scalable batch processing of Dolby E files, reduced delivery times for loudness measurement and correction, dynamics processing and up-mixing.

The AMB Dolby E Module also decodes Dolby E to linear PCM wave files, supports Dolby Metadata and Dolby E program configurations and converts Dolby formats to linear PCM wave files.

It joins a scalable product line that includes: AMB Loudness, DynApt, Upmix, MXF and ProRes modules. Now available for batch file processing, the Upmix module provides automatic up-mixing to 5.1 and 7.1 from stereo and multichannel sources, with down-mix compatibility. The loudness module offers multiple target loudness criteria and repurposing of audio to multiple targets from a single file, along with logging, reporting and graphing capabilities. The DynApt module respects dialog levels within material to ensure intelligibility. And the MXF and ProRes modules handle native processing of the audio essence within MXF wrappers or ProRes files.

The base AMB module includes two independent processing threads that optimize workflows by allowing two simultaneous processes to run in parallel. For greater speed, users can add AMB Thread Expansion to activate up to 16 additional processing threads. Facilities can use the modules to tailor their audio processing workflows to their precise needs.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Nugen Audio will be in booth SL8230.
LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, ENCO will demonstrate the greater speed and accuracy of its enCaption4 automated closed captioning solution. These operational advancements boost accuracy to 90 percent or higher, meeting mandated compliancy requirements for live captioning, while better serving hearing-impaired viewers.

These accuracy improvements result from enCaption4’s advanced speech-to-text engine, which leverages machine learning technology breakthroughs to develop a deep neural network approach to voice recognition. By closing the gap between live speech and corresponding caption displays, broadcasters can offer an improved viewer experience for news, sports, talk shows and other live programming.

Configurable on-premises or as a cloud-based solution, enCaption4 lets broadcasters provide accurate captions, even for breaking news or weather alerts, when it’s often difficult to find qualified live captioners on short notice.

MOS integration with popular Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS) allows enCaption4 to automatically learn correct spellings from news scripts and rundowns prior to live newscasts. Its multi-speaker identification feature eliminates crosstalk and other on-air confusion when multiple hosts and guests are contributing to live broadcasts. It identifies speech from each speaker through dedicated microphones, and processes each speaker separately, with support for more than 20 languages.

ENCO will also show a cloud-based, file-based service that provides audio transcripts with 99-percent accuracy for rebroadcasts, including re-runs and online distribution. This cloud transcription workflow makes it easy to upload recorded shows from which a transcriptionist will generate a transcript that will be accessible from the cloud within two to eight hours, with the higher accuracy the FCC expects for non-live broadcasts.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. ENCO will be in booth N3824.
LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, Dielectric has chosen to spotlight its spectrum repack UHF/VHF compatible antennas engineered for the next-generation ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard. The antennas meet safety margins that withstand the higher peak to average power ratios (PAPR) of the new standard.

Since ATSC 3.0 uses OFDM modulation rather than ATSC 1.0’s 8-VSB, the PAPR is 2 to 3db higher. Dielectric’s ATSC 3.0-compatible repack antennas and filters meet these higher peak power demands and band-tunable filters are tuned to ATSC 3.0 before they ship to customers. Once installed, this equipment would not need to be re-tuned should the customer decide to switch to ATSC 3.0.

The antennas also include FutureFill, which increases power density by 7 to 9dB close to the tower, and reduces the main lobe gain by 1.2 to 1.4dB. The broadcaster can, if additional transmitter power is available, increase the TPO to overcome the main lobe gain reduction, or use Single Frequency Network (SFN) technology to enhance reception at the periphery of the service area.

This allows an existing ATSC 1.0 antenna to be adjusted so that its performance is boosted for ATSC 3.0, without having to be taken down from the tower or replaced.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Dielectric will be in booth C2613.
LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, Burk Technology will be presenting the Arcturus RF Site Monitoring System, a turnkey solution providing protection and safety for multiplexed antenna sites. Key parameters are monitored and immediate action is taken when necessary to minimize the risk of costly damage to combiners, transmission lines or antennas. Transmitter interlocks are controlled by Burk’s new high-speed VSWR protection.

Arcturus allows engineers and site managers to precisely monitor their facilities remotely or in person. Its built-in trend analysis uses proprietary algorithms to predict out of tolerance conditions for VSWR, line pressure and room temperatures, allowing operators to take corrective action before safe operating levels are exceeded. Arcturus is compatible with ARC Plus and AutoPilot for integrated NOC views.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Burk Technology will be in booth N5131.
LAS VEGAS—Bittree will present video, audio and data patchbays at the 2018 NAB Show, including the 4K-capable Bittree 12G+ Mini-WECO Coaxial Video Patchbay and 12G+ BNC Coaxial Bulkhead Patch Panel.

Bittree’s video patching systems both enable 4K handling over a 12Gbps cable. In doing so, they eliminate the cumbersome quad-link connectivity often used for 4K-signal transport, while quadrupling the channels that can be routed through each unit. At 24GHz and 20GHz, respectively, the future-friendly 12G+ Mini-WECO and BNC patching systems provide headroom not only for 4K, but also 8K, HDR and potentially higher-bit rate applications.

Bittree’s ProStudio audio patchbays include the 1x16 PS16DB25QX, which provides audio I/O connectivity, choice of male XLR, female XLR, 1/4-inch TRS connections and the ability to pass audio signals to two rear-panel DB25 interfaces.

Other ProStudio audio patchbays include the front-programmable PS48DB25F, with 48 TT bantam connectors in a 2x24 desktop configuration and DB25 rear connectors for Avid ProTools and Tascam gear. The 96-connector PS96DB25F is a front-programmable, 2x48, 1.5RU rackmount version, while the PS96DB25i puts 96 TT (bantam) connections in 1RU of rack space.

Bittree’s high-density keystone data panels can be pre-configured or customized with fiber optic and copper data connections in a single panel, with a wide range of connectivity options.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Bittree will be in booth SU3417. For more information, visit www.nabshow.com.

Read up on all of TVT's NAB Show Sneak Peeks and other 2018 NAB Show news here.

Designed for 24/7 IPTV and web streaming operations, CloudAir is scalable from one to many channels and can be set-up quickly without the capital cost and maintenance of on-premise installations.

CloudAir offers remote access and control via a secure web browser and enables reliable IP-based workflows for linear or non-linear distribution. It now has a transcoder that handles MPEG PS/TS, MXF, QT, AVI, MP4, GXF, MPG2, H.264, ProRes, DNX HD and MJPEG file wrappers and formats. Available via software licensing or subscription, CloudAir can be configured as a standalone cloud system or a unified hybrid solution using the PlayBox Neo Channel in a Box, which is based on the AirBox Neo server for on-site operational flexibility.

Another PlayBox product, ProductionAirBox Neo now integrates with the Associated Press ENPS, Ross Inception and MiraMedia MiraNews newsroom computer systems via MOS gateway. And, a Facebook API implementation for SocialMediaBox Neo now enables re-use of archived feeds and display 'likes' for each post.

Also on display will be Neo TS Time Delay, a compact, full-featured IP-based delay server that provides programmable delay of multiple IP transport streams for DTV broadcasters operating across multiple time zones.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12.
LAS VEGAS—Quantum will use the 2018 NAB Show as an introduction to enhancements to its Xcellis workflow storage family and StorNext shared storage and data management platform.

The new Xcellis Scale-out NAS platform delivers scalable Ethernet-based storage, combines high-performance media and metadata management to support collaborative workflows. Powered by StorNext, Xcellis tackles data-intensive workloads, including 4K/UHD editing, VFX creation and color correction.

An Xcellis NAS cluster can scale performance and capacity, together or independently, to reach hundreds of petabytes in capacity and more than a terabyte per second in performance. Also, the new Xcellis Foundation entry-level NAS appliance enables greater collaborative StorNext media workflows.

Xcellis also adds aiWARE, a hybrid on-premises and cloud version of the Veritone artificial intelligence platform that lets users use cognitive analytics, such as object recognition, optical character recognition and transcription, to extract hidden value from video and audio stored on Quantum appliances.

By indexing and grouping content, ClarityNow for Xcellis makes it easier to attach exact costs to storage related to specific content and projects, and keeps these collections in the most economical and appropriate storage medium.

With its StorNext 6 release, Quantum provides new data management options and global collaboration. It includes FlexTier public/private cloud access, making it easier to integrate existing public-cloud storage accounts and third-party object storage (private cloud) into a StorNext environment.

The new FlexSpace shared archive feature lets multiple StorNext systems anywhere in the world share a common content repository. Another feature, FlexSync Multisite Synchronization, uses enhanced file-system metadata monitoring to detect changes made to content in one location and immediately update it across related StorNext systems globally.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. Quantum will be in booth SL8511. For more information, visit www.nabshow.com.

Read up on all of TVT's NAB Show Sneak Peeks and other 2018 NAB Show news here.

Since the AB512 reduces latency to a 7-millisecond delay for live, multi-camera productions, crews no longer need to worry that unacceptable lag times will result in lip sync or other operational issues.

MOJO

The system features an RF spectrum analyzer, which automatically selects and hops to the best RF channel cleanly, while the manual channel selection option is useful for coordinating frequencies at large events.

VidOvation will also demo Aviwest’s HE4000 4K UHD HEVC live encoder, which enables real-time UHD/HD video contribution and distribution over the internet. The half-RU encoder combines 10-bit and 4:2:2 HEVC encoding with Aviwest’s latest SafeStreams technology to deliver live video over IP at low latencies and bit rates, saving on satellite costs.

With Aviwest’s Quad Modem active antenna—which has four internal cellular modems with a high-efficiency, wideband antenna array—the HE4000 enables 4K and multi-HD HEVC video encoding and IP distribution. And two Quad Modem active external wideband cellular antennas can be plugged into the HE4000's USB ports for bonded cellular transmission.

Aviwest’s DMNG APP mobile journalism (MOJO) solution now offers bonded live streaming, storage and forwarding of high-quality live video, as well as advanced camera settings like focus, exposure and white balance, video clip editing and transmission over bonded 3G/4G and Wi-Fi connections in seconds, to get news stories to air faster.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. As the SDI to IP transition accelerates, there is a need for tools that identify, isolate and remedy SDI/IP workflow issues.

Tektronix Prism

With its broad range of measurements, trend graphs and session displays, the Tektronix Prism offers connectivity, monitoring and analysis for ST 2022-6, ST 2022-7 and ST 2110, and helps identify intermittent loss of video, audio or data content, and other network issues. Prism performs IP and SDI (12G/3G/HD/SD) measurements.

Tektronix also extended its Precision Time Protocol (PTP) timing analysis to include ST2022-7 timing for system setup and maintenance to synchronize facilities in a mixed packet, frame-accurate environment. The Tektronix SPG8000A master sync and PTP grandmaster clock generator offers PTP support for hybrid IP and SDI infrastructures.

Tektronix will also show solutions that capture and produce stunning content utilizing 4K/Ultra High Definition, High Dynamic Range, and Wide Color Gamut. The Prism platform helps setup cameras for live HDR using a proprietary STOP waveform and automated conversion support for various camera log curves adopted by top camera manufacturers and supports SMPTE ST 2084 standard and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) as per the ARIB ST B-67 standard.

Tektronix’s WFM8000 series waveform monitors support 4K and WCG, while WFM5200 series waveform monitors support those working with HD-HDR. Both support a wide range of camera log curves and HDR gammas. Customers who purchased a valid software option key license for Option PROD can field-upgrade their existing instruments free-of-charge with new firmware that can be downloaded from tek.com/downloads.

As content providers increasingly produce, encode and stream content in virtual or cloud environments, the underlying technology can be complex and introduce errors. The problem is exacerbated by the lack of visibility on the actual quality of delivered content, which can negatively impact brands and increase churn.

Tektronix Aurora file-based QC tools and Sentry scalable monitoring tools provide quality measurements of virtual and cloud programs so content providers can take corrective action before it detracts from the Quality of Experience (QoE).

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12. The MARBLE-V1, which is a card housed in Crystal Vision’s new Vision 1 1RU frames, supports six bi-directional SDI connections, four 10GbE SFP+ network interface ports and eight bi-directional discrete AES stereo channels.

Crystal Vision's three SMPTE 2110 apps serve as IP gateways between SDI and SMPTE 2022 or 2110, and IP to IP translators for IP flows, including protocol conversion between SMPTE 2022 and 2110. The apps support AMWA NMOS IS-O4 for discovery and registration and IS-05 for device connection management.

The SDI6-IP-2110 IP gateway app, which encapsulates SDI to uncompressed IP, converts up to six HD/SD or three 3Gbps SDI input connections for output as SMPTE 2110 over 10GbE links. The second app, the IP-SDI6-2110 IP gateway, de-encapsulates SDI from uncompressed 10GbE IP, converting up to six HD/SD or three 3Gbps SDI output connections. The third app is the IP-IP-2110 IP to IP translator, which bridges SMPTE 2022 and 2110 protocols, among other features for solving IP challenges.

Crystal Vision will also show three SMPTE 2022 apps including the SDI6-IP-2022 gateway app, which encapsulates SDI to SMPTE 2022 IP; the IP-SDI6-2022 gateway app, which de-encapsulates SDI from 10GbE IP networks; and the IP-IP-2022 IP to IP translator app, which is ideal for any SMPTE 2022 application where network settings need to be changed, such as network address translation, multicast to unicast conversion and 2022-6 to 2022-7 protocol translation.

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12.
LAS VEGAS—At the 2018 NAB Show, Yamaha will exhibit its new Rivage PM7 digital mixing system, which consists of the CSD-R7 digital mixing console and TWINLANe-based RPio622 and RPio222 I/O racks, as well as new Dante-based Rio3224-D2 and Rio1608-D2 I/O racks.

Rivage PM7

With 120 input channels, 60 mix buses, 24 matrices and 48 top-quality plug-ins, the PM7 provides a comparable user experience and mixing capacity to the Rivage PM10, which has 144 input channels, 72 mix buses, 36 matrices and 50 plug-ins.

With an emphasis on preserving workflow, the CSD-R7’s DSP engine is built into the console for greater portability and flexibility. A dual console function allows the CSD-R7 to be connected to one of the Rivage PM10 system control surfaces (CS-R10 or CS-R10-S). For example, a CS-R10-S can be used at front of house, for monitors or as a sidecar expansion console for the CSD-R7, depending on space and system scale requirements.

The CSD-R7 connects with two types of audio networks, allowing flexible connection and control of RPio622 and/or RPio222 I/O rack units. The dedicated TWINLANe network uses optical cable to handle up 400 channels of audio.

The company will also unveil new Rio3224-D2 and Rio1608-D2 I/O racks, which are components of the Rivage PM Series, including the new PM7. They can also be used with CL and QL Series digital mixing consoles.

Coming soon, Version 4.5 firmware for CL and QL Series digital mixing consoles will support Audinate Dante Domain Manager, which provides efficient Dante network management, with user authentication and role-based security. This enables seamless Dante system expansion on virtually any network infrastructure.

Another firmware update, Version 2.0 of the Rivage PM series, will include new features, such as 5.1 surround and broadcast mix minus capability, a Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5045 primary source enhancer, dual console function, and DSP mirroring (Rivage PM10 only).

The 2018 NAB Show takes place in Las Vegas, April 9-12.
