GRASS VALLEY, Calif.—AJA Video Systems today unveiled OG-FiDO-4, a new family of openGear-compatible cards offering four channels of conversion between 12G-/3G-SDI and fiber, expanding the OG-FiDO-4 family to nine different modules. The product line is designed to enable reliable, uncompressed SDI transport over LC fiber and includes DashBoard software support for centralized monitoring.

The new cards will be demonstrated at the IBC Show, Sept. 11-14 at the RAI Amsterdam.

The OG-FiDO-4 family delivers practical, cost-efficient solutions with the channel density, signal integrity, and dependability that mission-critical environments demand,” said AJA President Nick Rashby.

The nine models available include the base card and AJA Fiber SFP variations such as 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, single-mode, and multi-mode models. Each model features independent, isolated SDI-BNC connectors that enable different rates to be carried simultaneously and an integrated rear I/O card unlocks high-density transport, up to 40 channels in an openGear frame.

DashBoard software streamlines installation, configuration, monitoring, and service updates on Windows and macOS with support for HDR video and pass-through of SDI metadata.

The models also feature Input Present and Input SMPTE Lock LEDs, automatic data rate detection and reclocking and are compatible with current AJA FIBERLC TX and RX SFP Modules, as well as the OG-X-FR and OG-3-FR openGear frames. Power consumption is 8W maximum.

The OG-FiDO-4 family will be available soon for purchase through AJA’s network of resellers starting at $2,295 and $2,695 US MSRP.

Wohler Technologies has announced the availability of a new module option for  iSeries Audio and Video monitoring products. This new module, OPT-RMOC-12G, makes it possible to migrate a 3G-SDI capable monitor to a 12G-SDI (4K) capable monitor, the company said. 

The module Includes a single BNC as well as a SFP cage for a 12GSDI or ST2110 (@1080p) input and works with most 1U & 2U iSeries in-rack monitors. Installed in the option card slot, OPT-RMOC-12G is capable of monitoring 16 channels of audio (iAM & iVAM Series), plus a single video input on iVAM Series. Both audio & video are selectable from a choice of sources connected directly to the card, or inputs connected to the in-rack monitor.

Wohler has a history of building scalable, modular and future-proof products, and this development continues that tradition, the company said. 

Wohler monitors support all industry-standard baseband and IP formats including Dante, Ravenna and AES67. Support for ST2110, 2022-6/-7, Analog and MADI are included. Broad support for Dolby formats including ATMOS, DD+ and Dolby-E are included, as well as MPEG-H and AES. Monitors are available in audio only or audio and video capable versions.

A notable key feature is the fact that this new module also adds Remote Monitoring capability for use with Wohler’s new MAVRIC Cloud-based monitoring solution. MAVRIC is a software-based solution that enables the ability to look at Video, listen to Audio, see Audio bars, levels and Loudness all through a Web browser, and is accompanied by a Mobile Application for Apple/Android. This application unifies teams by centrally providing Alerts and Communications (voice, video or chat) inside MAVRIC.

Cypress, CA, October 21, 2019 – With its live WALLCAST® simulcasts and concert auditorium surrounded by an immersive projection system, the Miami-based New World Symphony (NWS) features unprecedented integration of technology into its educational, rehearsal, and performance spaces. The New World Symphony prepares graduates of top music schools for leadership roles in orchestras and ensembles around the world. It combines teaching and technical innovation in a way that brings classical music into the 21 century and makes the music accessible to everyone.

When the leaders of NWS were looking to upgrade the already top-of-the-line audio and video infrastructure within the New World Center, their Frank Gehry-designed campus three years ago, they were set on a single-link 12G infrastructure as the backbone for the overall upgrade. They met with representatives from the Miami office of FOR-A to discuss FOR-A’s range of 12G 4K/UHD products.

“We determined early on that our specific needs would be best served by designing our new 4K/UHD upgrade project around a single-cable 12G infrastructure,” explained Clyde Scott, Director of Video Production, New World Symphony. “Most options were quad-link and 4K IP, but FOR-A was the only manufacturer to make a single-link 12G switcher large enough for our purposes. We demoed the switcher and were impressed with its capabilities and ease of use.”

After that, FOR-A’s Director of Latin Region Sales, Mario Rodriguez and Product Specialist Bob Peterson worked closely with NWS to identify several other key pieces of equipment in the company’s suite of 12G products that would work well in the new installation, including: a large 12G router, production servers, and terminal gear.

After a highly competitive review, NWS went all in with FOR-A, purchasing: a 4K/UHD production switcher, two routing switchers, 19 signal processors, integrated control software, a multi-viewer, four 12G/SDI servers, two 12G graphics systems, and nine modular universal system frames.

Among the FOR-A products selected is the recently introduced 3 M/E HANABI HVS-6000 12G-SDI production switcherOffering 12G-SDI capability on all inputs and outputs, the 3 M/E HANABI HVS-6000 uses a single cable link. Video signals are processed throughout as a single image. The HVS-6000 is a 12 RU switcher, with a maximum of 80 inputs/32 outputs or 64 inputs/48 outputs. It also offers frame synchronization, frame buffer, 3D DVE, and 4 keyers per M/E with DVE function + 4 DSKs. The switcher has an optional board-mounting SFP connector that supports an IP interface.

LAS VEGAS—At the 2019 NAB Show, Decimator Design launched the 12G-CROSS cross converter, offering 4K support up to 4096x2160 at 60p. 12G-CROSS allows either of the HDMI or SDI outputs to be simultaneously sourced from either the HDMI or SDI input or the new 4K scaling engine. CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – March 27, 2019 – Cobalt Digital will demonstrate its new 9914 Series of distribution amplifiers at the 2019 NAB Show (Booth SL9111) next month in Las Vegas, Nev. Designed to support 4K 12G-SDI sources, the new cards are built for openGear® frames and allow for copper runs long enough to reach most equipment within a rack room or production truck.

The 9914DA-4x16-XPT-12G reclocking DA offers four input channels that can be crosspoint-routed to 16 DA outputs, plus a fiber option that allows significantly longer runs. The crosspoint allows quad 1x4, dual 1x8, single 1x16, and manual configurations. Any of the four inputs can be distributed or duplicated across four groups of 1x4 DAs, and the quad-input capacity supports 8K quad-link content over 12G-SDI interfaces. Up to 10 9914DA-4x16-XPT-12G cards can be installed in one openGear frame to provide 40 channels of input and distribution to up to 160 outputs.

In HD mode, the switcher accepts up to 40 inputs, and in 4K mode it accepts up to 10. Making its introduction at the show is the new DSK-4800 4K downstream keyer. The DSK-4800 accepts mixed 12G-SDI and quad link 3G-SDI input. It includes frame synchronization for all fill/key inputs. Up to 10-channel keying is supported, with 8 fill/key channels, + still + DVE (optional). Using the optional DVE, operators can enlarge, reduce, or move input signals from one input (including line) over other signals.

The ESG-4200 12G/IP test signal generator will also be on hand in FOR-A’s NAB booth. The ESG-4200 supports 12G-SDI, Video-over-IP SMPTE 2022-6 interfaces and provides a range of audio and 4K video testing.

A 12G-SDI/IP multi-channel video server will be at the FOR-A booth. The MBP-1000VS is ideal for 4K editing environments, offering multi-input/output 4K and HD support and ingest, playout and 4K recording functionality. Users can choose from four SSD capacities with maximum 15TB to meet their system needs and can add an LTO option for immediate archiving of captured 4K material or extended recording.

In addition to single-link 12G-SDI, FOR-A will also demonstrate products that support 4K, IP and HDR. 4K-supporting switchers in the FOR-A NAB booth will include the powerful HANABI HVS-2000, which offers the performance of a 7 M/E switcher; the compact, affordable HVS-490; and the HVS-100, which offers exceptional performance in a portable unit.

The new version of FOR-A’s popular FA-9600 multi-purpose signal processor supports 3D LUT for advanced color grading and Sony’s SR Live workflow for live HDR production. The dual-channel unit provides HDR and Wide Color Gamut support and conversion of multiple formats, such as: 12G, 4K (UHD), 1080p, and SD/HD. Each of the FA-9600 processor’s two HD/SD inputs includes a frame synchronizer. Because the multi-purpose signal processor features 12G-SDI terminals, optional software opens the door to 4K(UHD) production.

The entire USF-Series of universal system frames, including the USF-106UDC-12G 4K up/down converter (which offers interlace/progressive and up/down conversion for a range of signals from SD and HD to 4K), will be on hand at the FOR-A NAB booth. Other USF series supporting 12G, such as the USF-105FS-12G frame synchronizer, USF-105UC-12G up converter, and USF-101MDX4-12G/101MDX8-12G audio multiplexer/demultiplexer, will also be introduced.

Additionally, FOR-A will demonstrate efficient HD integration with third party graphics, replay systems and production servers, including partner products such as: the ODYSSEY Insight video server; the ClassX content creation and graphics playout solution; Variant Systems Group’s Envivo Replay sports and live event replay solution; Media Links’ IP Media Gateway, Fujitsu’s IP-HE950 H.265/HEVC real-time video encoders; and InSync's frame synchronizer, frame rate converter, and up/down converters. 

LAS VEGAS—At last year’s NAB Show, For-A debuted the HANABI HVS-6000, a single link 12G-SDI production switcher. This year, For-A plans to showcase a range of products that it has developed that are able to support both 12G-SDI/4K and 3G-SDI/HD resolution.

Among these products will be updates to the HANABI HVS-6000. The 12RU switcher that has a maximum of 80 inputs/32 outputs or 64 inputs/48 outputs, now offers an optional board-mounting SFP connector that supports an IP interface.

The HANABI HVS-1200 will also be on display. The product is a 4K/HD compatible switcher that supports 12G-SDI that can be combined with the MFR-1000 routing switcher. The combination of the two products creates a 12G-SDI/4K production system. Building on the features of the HANABI HVS-490, the HVS-1200 uses a single cable for image processing and is configurable as both a 12G-SDI/4K and 3G-SDI/HD switcher. In HD mode it accepts up to 40 inputs and 6 ME performance; in 4K it accepts up to 10 and provides 2 ME performance.

Set to debut at the 2019 show is the DSK-4800 4K downstream keyer. The unit accepts mixed 12G-SDI and quad link 3G-SDI input; includes frame synchronization for all fill/key inputs; and support for up to 10-channel keying, with eight fill/key channels. There is also an optional DVE to enlarge, reduce or move input signals from one input over other signals.

Other 12G products that are expected to be at the For-A booth include the ESG-4200 12G/IP test signal generator and the MBP-1000VS 12G-SDI/IP multi-channel video server.

Products that offer support for 4K, IP and HDR will also get the spotlight during the NAB Show. The 4K-supporting switchers HANABI HVS-2000, HVS-490 and HVS-100 will be on-hand; the SOM-100 media orchestration platform, USF-10IP IP Gateway and MBP-1000VS-IP video server for IP video; the FA-9600 multi-purpose signal processor for live HDR production; and the entire USF-Series of universal system frames, including models that support 12G.

In addition, For-A will demonstrate HD integration with third party graphics and replay systems and production servers.

FOR-A’s new media orchestration platform (SOM-100) provides seamless interoperability between baseband and IP traffic. An integrated baseband/IP control and monitoring system, it’s designed for use in a mixed SDI/IP environment. SDI and IP routing switchers are managed as one routing switcher in a virtual group. The SOM-100 offers seamless operation of a variety of video equipment, monitored centrally from its interface. It can execute routing system control and process control, so that it supports collective operational changes of multiple pieces of equipment and executes time reservation. The system also features a web interface for easy access from multiple computers.

FOR-A will showcase the next generation in its line of signal processors – the FA-9600. The dual-channel unit provides HDR and Wide Color Gamut support and conversion of multiple formats, such as: 12G, 4K (UHD), 1080p, and SD/HD. Each of the FA-9600 processor’s two HD/SD inputs includes a frame synchronizer. Because the multi-purpose signal processor features 12G-SDI terminals, optional software opens the door to 4K(UHD) production. Adding an expansion card provides four more channels of 3G-SDI input/output or six channels of 12G-SDI distributed output. The FA-9600 simplifies all types of video conversion. A newly developed color processing circuit supports the latest gamut and dynamic range specifications, and an optional converter circuit is available for up/down/cross conversion.

Finally, FOR-A will show the latest developments in the area of remote production using Fujitsu IP-HE950 H.265/HEVC real-time video encoders. Employing the latest compression tools and image processing algorithms to provide best-in-class video fidelity, the IP-HE950 supports real-time 4K contribution, as well as SD and HD. FOR-A is a distributor of Fujitsu’s high-performance encoders and decoders in North America, Europe, Middle-East and Africa, as well as select regions in Latin America.

TORRANCE, Calif. — Slomo.tv, which produces high-performance SSD-based video record and replay systems, will launch a multifunctional 4K server at IBC2018 that the company says is aggressively priced.

Dominator AT/12G provides advanced slow motion and instant replay capabilities and direct recording for editing on site. In 4K mode it supports the 662 configuration — six-channel recording, search on six channels and two channels replay (6 Record + 6 Search + 2 Play); in 3G/HD replay mode it supports 10 channels recording, search on all channels and four channels replay (10 Record + 10 Search + 4 Play). Mode switching is achieved with one button push and does not require any reconfiguration of the system.

“Since many manufacturers use 12G SDI interfaces for 4K [UHD] operation, the new server is equipped with 12 universal 12G/3G/HD/SD video interfaces,” explained Slomo.tv CEO Michael Gilman. “This allocates one [BNC] connector for all standards, which perfectly fits modern cameras and mixers and significantly reduces the number of connecting cables.”

The Dominator AT/12G offers enhanced replay capabilities with two operators working simultaneously on the same unit. With four independent graphics outputs each operator can work with separate monitors using the main GUI and multiviewer. The GUI built-in multiviewer has five basic configurations, displaying video windows of different or equal size, for input video, search channels and video outputs. Suitable in compact OB environments, an optional MultiSkin function allows the user to display several different interfaces on one monitor.
