IBC highlights digital cinema

Digital cinema grabs the spotlight at IBC2007, and d-cinema programs will run throughout the conference with screenings, special events and demonstrations of the latest technology.An HD showcase on Friday night, Sept. 7 features the music of The Who and The White Stripes, along with trailers from Korean and Chinese cinema.Sunday, Sept. 10, IBC celebrates 25 years of HD in Europe (at 9.30 a.m.). The BBC Natural History Unit offers a 2 p.m. showcase to mark receiving the IBC 40th anniversary award. Digital cinema grabs the spotlight at IBC2007, and d-cinema programs will run throughout the conference with screenings, special events and demonstrations of the latest technology.

An HD showcase on Friday night, Sept. 7 features the music of The Who and The White Stripes, along with trailers from Korean and Chinese cinema.

Sunday, Sept. 10, IBC celebrates 25 years of HD in Europe (at 9.30 a.m.). The BBC Natural History Unit offers a 2 p.m. showcase to mark receiving the IBC 40th anniversary award. The Monday night movie is Ratatouille from Pixar Animations and Buena Vista International.

On the technology side, demonstrations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday feature products from Arri, Christie, Dalsa, Doremi, Panavision, Red, Sony, and Thomson.

Conference sessions further explore d-cinema. The European Digital Cinema Forum in association with SMPTE will present a Sunday afternoon session on 3D production and post. Look for multiple conference sessions on the d-cinema theme all day Monday. The Sunday meeting and Tuesday morning open meeting are free to all visitors.
