Harris is adding HD capability to its NetVX integrated high-speed networking platform.

The new NetVX MPEG-2 HD encoder is contained on a single module that plugs into the NetVX chasses. The HD encoder supports multiple HD video formats, including 1080i/29.97, 720P/59.94, and 1080i/25, as well as both standard 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 professional profiles. The MPEG-2 HD Encoder will begin shipping in May and its plug-and-play design makes it a convenient field upgrade.

A second enhancement to NetVX is its transrating transport stream multiplexer (TMX) module, which can be integrated with the NetVX multiservice video networking platform. The transrating TMX allows content providers and broadcasters to optimize bandwidth usage while maintaining full video quality, by reducing the bit-rate of multiple programs into a single multiplexed transport stream.

The Transrating TMX handles up to 16 standard-definition channels, provides rate-limiting capability for video-over-IP distribution, and provides pass-through for non-transrated programs.

Harris will be in Booth C1907.
