Blackmagic Design Inc. is now shipping its new Intensity Pro capture and playback hardware worldwide.

The card offers high quality video at low cost and accommodates NTSC, PAL, S-Video, analog component and HDMI video signal capture capability. It allows users direct capture from an HD camera's image sensors, bypassing compression circuitry later in the video chain.

Intensity Pro can be connected to any large screen television display or projection system to provide enhanced monitoring in editing environments.

"We think with the combination of HDMI and analog on a single PCI Express plug in card at a very affordable $349 will change the lives of thousands of professional videographers," said Grant Petty, Blackmagic's CEO. "Intensity Pro's new analog compatibility, combined with HD up and down conversion real time processing, allows videographers to now edit in either SD or HD, while keeping compatibility with older equipment and their archived video footage."

The new card switches between NTSC/PAL, 720 and 1080 standards and is compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop; Apple Final Cut Pro; and DirectShow or QuickTime based software applications for Windows and Mac OS X platforms.
