WTVG takes Web visitors on transmitter tour

WTVG-TV in Toledo, OH, has begun promoting its HD preparations to viewers with an impressive Web-based slideshow that presents visitors with a behind-the-scenes slideshow of its DTV transmission facility.

The series of 10 slides explains to visitors how the station re-enforced the structural integrity of its tower with new guy wires, shows visitors its new DTV and analog antennas on the ground before mounting, provides a tower’s eye view of the transmitter building, explains how the station’s signal reaches the antenna from the transmitter and discusses the effective radiated power out of the transmitter and the fact that it’s solid state.

In short, the slideshow gives visitors an idea of the scope of the project to prepare the station to deliver digital television service.
