SBE prepares for BAS relocation, appoints Otey BAS transition manager

The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) will organize meetings in local markets between broadcasters and Nextel as the relocation of broadcast auxiliary service (BAS) incumbents from the 2GHz band begins.

Local SBE frequency coordinators will serve as key contact points in assisting with the transition. Local SBE chapter chairmen also will be asked to help.

SBE frequency coordination director David Otey, who has worked part-time for the society, will take a full-time position with the society and have the added title of BAS transition project manager.
