SBE establishes 8-VSB specialist certification

The Society of Broadcast Engineers has announced a program to certify specialists in 8-VSB.

The certification program is intended to evaluate the ability of individuals to perform tasks needed to keep facilities operational.

The certification exam covers transport stream, AC-3 audio, MPEG-2 video, PSIP, and DTV standards documents and transmission systems. To attain the 8-VSB specialist certificate, applicants must have certification on the Broadcast Engineer, Senior Broadcast Engineer or Professional Broadcast Engineer level and pass a 50 question multiple-choice examination.
