RadioScape premieres new mobile TV processor

RadioScape last week announced a new series of processors for mobile television applications based on the latest additions to the Blackfin processor family from Analog Devices (ADI). The series integrates both the Eureka 147-based baseband decoder software (including DAB audio, DAB data, T-DMB and DAB-IP) with the audio and video decoders (H.264 video and MPEG-4 for both AAC+ and BSAC audio) into a single software solution.

The new series is part of RadioScape's software-defined radio approach, a strategy the company has adopted to focus on creating mobile TV receiver solutions based on the Eureka 147 DAB standard, which includes the T-DMB and DAB-IP standards. DAB-based standards have been adopted for mobile television applications in many parts of the world because they use spectrum that is already available. RadioScape's initial mobile TV solutions, designed to allow service providers to deliver value-added applications to existing customers though software updates in the field, will provide DAB/T-DMB and DAB-IP reception as well as DAB radio.
