Deadline set for EDGE Award nominations
Nominations deadline: Jan. 17, 2005
The Association of Public Television Stations is accepting nominations for its EDGE Awards. The awards recognize stations and individuals who have fostered novel, fruitful partnerships, used digital technology in innovative ways to advance education, public safety or information service and conducted their DTV transition in an outstanding or pioneering way.

Nominations for NCTA 2005 Vanguard Awards deadline
Deadline: Jan. 21
The National Cable & Telecommunications Association is seeking nominations for its highest honor, the Vanguard Awards. The association presents awards in several categories, including science and technology.

Extension of FCC Form 382 filing deadline for first-round DTV channel election
New Deadline: Jan. 27
Responding to a request from the Association for Maximum Service Television, the FCC has set a new deadline of Jan. 27, 2005, for submission of FCC Form 382 for first-round DTV channel election.

Effective date of new digital LPTV, TV translator, Class A TV rules
Effective date: Jan 28
New rules not requiring the approval of the Office of Management and Budget that govern the analog-to-digital transition of LPTV, TV translator and Class A TV stations will take effect Jan. 28.

Full implementation deadline for ATSC PSIP standard required by A/65
Deadline: Feb. 1
Established by the FCC in its Second DTV Periodic Review Report and Order, the deadline requires full implementation of the ATSC Program System and Information Protocol, PSIP, standard to the extent that ATSC A/65B requires.

SBE sets deadline for 2004 annual awards
Deadline: May 31
The SBE has set a May 31 deadline to submit nominations for its annual awards. The society is seeking nominations for several categories, including Broadcast Engineer of the Year, Educator of the Year and the Technology award.
