Crown Castle orders Thales’ DVB-H transmitter systems

Crown Castle has acquired multiple Thales Affinity DVB-H transmitters for its DVB-H roll out.

Crown Castle Mobile Media has placed orders for multiple Thales Affinity DVB-H transmitters.

Crown Castle will use these transmitter systems in its initial DVB-H deployment.

In April, Thales introduced its Mobile TV global solutions, including:

  • SmartVision Mobility Video Service platform providing mobile TV services management, content delivery, electronic service guide and digital rights management;
  • SmartCast Mobility Video Headend platform, which is composed of low bit rate encoding, IP encapsulation, DTV multiplexing and DVB-H transmission to any DVB-H compliant portable terminal. The Affinity, Optimum and Ultimate broadcasting platforms are used for RF delivery in various frequency bands and power levels.
