Thomson shows Open Mobile Alliance-compliant mobile TV system

During IBC2007, Thomson demonstrated its end-to-end mobile TV solutions, which included the Open Mobile Alliance’s new standard for electronic service guide and SIM-card-embedded content security, known as the OMA BCAST SmartCard Profile.

Prior to the convention, Thomson had passed tests for its OMA BCAST solutions at the Broadcast Mobile Convergence forum and launched one of the first packaged solutions available on the market.

Thomson’s OMA BCAST solution features a Thomson DVB-H Mobile TV encoder with scrambling capabilities and the SmartVision service platform generating and broadcasting an OMA BCAST electronic service guide (ESG). A key differentiator of Thomson’s DVB-H OMA BCAST solution is its interoperability with different service and content protection systems including Irdeto, Nagravision and Viaccess.
