TeamCast announces exciter for China’s CMMB mobile TV standard

TeamCast and Digital Horizon announced at NAB2008 CELLO, a CMMB exciter/modulator compliant with the People’s Republic of China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT)’s requirements for mobile TV trials in the UHF band.

CELLO combines CMMB technology developed by Digital Horizon with the digital precorrection features found in TeamCast’s range of digital and mobile TV exciters/modulators. It is being used to test coverage in up to six cities that will be involved in the Olympic Games across the country. CMMB is the mobile TV standard developed by SARFT for use in the Chinese mainland.

Also at NAB2008, TeamCast announced it would supply Axcera with DVB-SH modulation technology. The transmitter manufacturer will use the technology to develop a range of low- to medium-power transmitters and on-channel repeaters tailored to DVB-SH, a hybrid terrestrial/satellite mobile TV standard.
