Siano unveils newest multistandard mobile TV chip

Last month, Siano Mobile Silicon introduced its new SMS1230 multistandard mobile TV receiver chip. Supporting DVB-T, T-DMB and ISDB-T, the all-CMOS single-chip receiver enables DVB-T reception at speeds of 200km/h and demonstrates high immunity to interfering analog and digital signals. In addition, it supports digital radio — DAB and DAB+ technologies as well as analog FM radio. Integrating two SMS1230 units supports antenna diversity, further increasing reception performance.

"Siano’s new SMS1230 is targeting customers that are pursuing top-notch DTV reception performance in extremely tough conditions such as vast distances from the nearest broadcasting tower, or in the presence of very strong interfering signals, or while commuting by car or by train at very high speeds," said Siano CEO Alon Ironi,.

The SMS1230 is currently available in sample quantities. Production volumes will be available starting in November.
