Siano Mobile Silicon, Thin Multimedia partner for integrated mobile TV platform

As part of a new agreement, Siano Mobile Silicon is lending its SMS1000 mobile digital TV receiver chip to a new multistandard, integrated mobile TV platform developed by Thin Multimedia. The platform, currently dubbed MobileTV, combines the chip with Thin Multimedia's DVB-H and T-DMB middleware software.

Thin Multimedia, which demonstrated MobileTV at the CTIA Wireless 2007 show last week, designed the platform to be launch-ready and easily ported to a real-time operating system (RTOS) environment. The solution includes TMI's A/V player, which boasts a fast channel-changing capability and personal video recording (PVR) functionalities. The Siano SMS1000 is a quad-band, multistandard receiver supporting the DVB-H, DVB-T, DAB, DAB-IP and T-DMB mobile digital standards, in various spectrum ranges, from 170MHz to 1680MHz.
