Siano announces new chip, new Shenzen office

Siano Mobile Silicon continues its drive into the Asia market with the launch of a new low-cost multi-standard mobile TV receiver chip, the SMS1140 - and the opening of new offices in China’s consumer electronics nexus, Shenzhen, to work more closely with local design houses.

The new SMS1140 receiver chip for mobile and portable TV supports DVB-T, ISDB-T and T-DMB and can be used in almost any kind of mobile device, including phones, portable media players, laptops, Mobile Internet Devices and in-vehicle equipment. Pricing is designed to meet the needs of PC makers, navigational device manufacturers and other entertainment device suppliers.

By supporting the technologies of European, Japanese and Korean mobile TV markets, the SMS1140 enables consumer electronics manufacturers to cheaply upgrade any portable device with a color screen to high performance mobile DTV.
