Sharp announces LCD for mobile TV viewing

Sharp has announced the development of the Mobile Advanced Super View, a new LCD designed for One-Seg-compatible mobile devices, which are capable of receiving terrestrial digital TV broadcasts.

The Mobile Advanced Super View features a contrast ratio of 2000:1, a 176-degree viewing angle and a response time of 8ms. It combines the company's high-resolution liquid crystal system technology with the display technology from the company's AQUOS line of LCD televisions. Screen size is 2.2in, with a 240 x 320 (QVGA) pixel count.

Sharp has scheduled a sample shipment of the new LCDs for this fall.
