RAS expands Net Insight Nimbra network to support more DTT transmitter sites

Rundfunk-Anstalt Südtirol (RAS), the public broadcasting company in Südtirol distributing all of the German-language TV and radio broadcasts in this North Italian region, has enhanced its digital terrestrial TV (DTT) network with Net Insight’s Nimbra platform.

RAS selected Nimbra at the beginning of 2007 for a small, initial phase of its DTT network rollout and continued to expand during 2008. The Net Insight Nimbra is used to transport ASI video streams and digital radio (DAB) with guaranteed quality of service.

RAS has begun upgrading and extending its network with additional transmitter sites, now totaling nearly 30 transmitters in the area of Südtriol. Net Insight's Nimbra Vision is also implemented for efficient network management, which relies on the Time Transfer feature for GPS-free time synchronization in the network.
