3ple-Media adds image, audio and video transcoding to MERCURY Mobile Multimedia Platform

3ple-Media has announced its new MERCURY transcode module, which adds image, audio and video transcoding functionality to the company’s MERCURY Mobile Multimedia Platform. The module allows mobile operators to optimize video streaming and MMS service adoption for 2.5G and 3G subscribers.

The module enables the conversion and optimization of hundreds of audio, video and image file types. It can also be deployed as a standalone transcoding solution through use of its 3GPP-compliant standard transcoding interface (STI). It joins several other modules in the MERCURY Mobile Multimedia suite, including a 3G MMSC and WAP gateway, a mobile video portal and an MMS gateway (all currently provided by different vendors or through OEM relationships).
