NTT Electronics to feature HV9100 series HD/SD encoder, decoder

During IBC2008 in Amsterdam, Sept. 12-16, NTT Electronics will showcase its HV9100 series AVC H.264 HD/SD encoder and decoder designed for content transmission, including live HD broadcast coverage of sports and news.

The HV9100 series incorporates an IC developed by NTT Electronics that provides AVC H.264 compression, supports 4:2:2 chroma and features low delay time.

The encoder and decoder support both HD (1080i and 720p) and SD (480i and 576i) and a maximum of two audio systems, for a total of eight channels of encoding and decoding. Additionally, the pair can be used for MPEG-2 encoding and decoding.

The HV9100 series, which is currently available, began shipping in January.
