MediaExcel launches line of transcoders using TI DaVinci processing

Media Excel recently unveiled the HERA 4000 line of transcoders, which are able to encode, transcode and distribute broadcast-quality video to any device over any network using the Texas Instruments DaVinci technology digital media processor.

The new product line feature live or file transcoding capability for most applications, including HD and mobile TV; multidevice broadcast delivery; real-time multipass encoding and advanced video preprocessing for high quality output; and 16 MPEG-2 channels of simultaneous H.264/MPEG-4/H.263 real-time transcoding for mobile TV applications. The products come as hardware units that integrate the DaVinci processor technology in 1RU. All HERA products can be upgraded to accommodate new codecs with a software change.
