Harris to demo IP-based security for transmission facilities at IBC2008

Harris will provide a complete video surveillance demonstration for TV stations interested in upgrading to IP-based security at transmission facilities during IBC2008 in Amsterdam Sept. 12-16.

The demonstration, featuring the Harris Intraplex NetXpress audio-over-IP platform, allows broadcasters and engineers to take advantage of a new Intraplex video module that can be added to new or existing NetXpress systems.

The solution allows engineers and studio personnel to monitor the transmitter site from the studio with the same NetXpress platform used to transport AES and analog audio, data and voice from studio to transmitter. Both live surveillance and alarm-based monitoring are possible using the NetXpress platform.

The new video surveillance application uses low bit-rate MPEG-4/H.264 video compression to send multicast or unicast video, which can be viewed on the IP network.
