Cutting Edge upgrades with Calrec for sports

Cutting Edge, an Australian operator of HD-capable mobile production trucks, has upgraded its existing OB5 unit and outfitted a new truck with two Calrec consoles. The new boards will enable the company to produce 5.1 surround-sound mixes for live sports events.

With facilities in Brisbane, Sydney, Darwin and London, Cutting Edge has installed a 48-fader Omega with Bluefin console on its OB5 unit and added a 56-fader Sigma to its new OB4 unit, which is due to hit the road in August. OB4 will support up to 48 cameras. The newly upgraded OB5 truck produced its first job in Sydney the day after its completion. OB4 will support the Network Ten AFL Finals, produced in 5.1 surround sound.

The Cutting Edge OB division has worked on a wide variety of productions including the Australian Football League for Network Ten national cricket coverage, Super 14’s (National Rugby Football), NRL (National Rugby League), NBL (National Basketball League) and A-League football, all for FOX Sports.
