BSkyB turns to Crystal Vision’s TANDEM for audio embedding, de-embedding

The Crystal Vision TANDEM provides audio embedding and de-embedding for BSkyB’s interactive portal.
British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) has begun using Crystal Vision’s TANDEM advanced audio embedding and de-embedding capabilities to provide 16 different audio tracks for a new interactive portal.

BSkyB ordered more than 60 units, which have been in use since November 2004.

BSkyB produces Sky Digital. Sky Active, Sky Digital's interactive services portal, is available without subscription in more than 7.4 million digital satellite households.

BSkyB needed the Crystal Vision equipment to produce a new magazine-style format to meet the needs of viewers using its interactive services, creating a 16-screen video mosaic to provide faster access to Sky Active's different features.

Viewers highlight one of the images using the cursor buttons on their remote control, which allow them to hear the associated audio feed.

TANDEM is used for both immediate playout and recording onto a server, both of which need the audio to be arranged in completely different ways.
