Avid unveils new versions of NewsCutter, Media Composer, Symphony, Interplay

At IBC2009, Avid introduced new versions of its Media Composer (v4.0), Symphony (v4.0), NewsCutter (v8.0) editing software and Interplay (v2.0) production asset management system.

These new offerings enable broadcast and post-production professionals to:

  • Eliminate timely transcode processes with the capability to mix and match different frame rates and resolutions in an open timeline within the same project;
  • Expand native support for file-based media with the addition of formats such as Panasonic AVC-I and Ikegami GFCAM; and
  • Empower production teams to become more efficient by extending workgroup capabilities to the wide area network.
