Alltel deploys QuickPlay Media’s OpenVideo platform for Celltop mobile video streaming

Alltel is using QuickPlay Media’s OpenVideo platform to power new streaming video capabilities for its Celltop service.

The Celltop technology mimics the capabilities of a desktop PC to provide easier access, organization and control of content on wireless devices. Launched in January 2007, it currently offers 15 cells comprised of graphics and text that provide shortcuts for wireless users to navigate through aggregated information and applications. QuickPlay’s OpenVideo platform features a content management system, advanced reporting and analytics to manage mediation and settlement, open APIs for easy partner integration and advanced service delivery capabilities.

As an introduction to the new streaming capabilities of the Celltop service, Alltel is offering four new video cells featuring entertainment, horoscopes, extreme sports and wellness content from NBC, MTV and E!, among other sources.
