IEEE’s BST Group Readies for Annual Broadcast Symposium

The IEEE’s Broadcast Technology Society (BTS) has set Oct. 14-16 as the dates for its 59th annual Broadcast Symposium to be held at the Westin Hotel in Alexandria, Va.

The event begins with a full day of tutorial presentations on the latest developments in the field of digital television and radio broadcasting. Topics to be covered include measurement methodologies and a new implementation of the Longley-Rice propagation model.

Keynote speakers at this year’s Symposium include Jules Cohen, veteran Washington broadcast consultant, and Dr. Andrew W. Clegg, ESMU program director at the National Science Foundation.

Panel discussions are planned on DTV implementation, and television antenna designs, along with a number of papers on digital transmission interference issues and other post-transition topics.

The event also includes a joint BTS and Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers (AFCCE) luncheon, an Wednesday evening welcoming reception and an awards luncheon.
