TV Stock Snapshot: Stimulus Optimism Evident
2/9/2009
TV station group stocks made a partial rally today along with the rest of the market on the expectation of multi-billion dollar government stimulus bill. The Dow had gained 280 points, or around 4 percent, when it opened today compared to a week ago. TVB’s 28 TV station stocks were up 7 percent in the same period.
Among them, New York-based Young Broadcasting, (Pink Sheets: YBTVA) announced it would skip a $4.5 million interest payment due Feb. 6, on a senior secured credit facility due 2012. The company has a 10-day grace period on the payment. Young previously announced it would skip a $6.1 million interest payment due Jan. 15. The company has 10 TV stations in 10 markets. It continues to work with creditors on a restructure. (Please pardon the appearance of the index while we work out some bugs in the system.
