NAB Show: Toshiba to Unveil ‘World’s Smallest’ HD Cam
will demo its new IK-HD1 3CCD HD camera at the NAB Show, April 14-17 in Las Vegas, with Norpix (Booth SL10410) and Telemetrics (Booth C6933). Toshiba is calling it the world’s smallest camera head capable of producing HD images. The unit measures 1.6 inches diagonally and weighs 2.3 ounces (although it is wirelessly paired with a control unit that is far larger).
The IK-HD1 system uses Toshiba’s proprietary 3CCD “prism block” technology, which affects colorization, contrast brightness and image detail from the small cam head of 1920x1080 at 30 fps.
Standard with the unit are a C-mount lens flange and RS232C serial interface with multiple outputs for HD-SDI (SMPTE 292M), analog RGB, or Y/Pb/Pr. Accessories include a 4mm or 15mm lens and camera cables in 3-, 6-, 10- or 30-meter lengths.
Toshiba’s IK-HD1 HDTV cameras have already been used on the “New American Gladiators” and “Cash Cab” TV series.
