NEP Supershooters Taps Grass Valley For ESPN's Monday Night Football
9/1/2006

NEP Supershooters has selected a variety of Grass Valley high-definition production equipment from Thomson to televise the inaugural season of ESPN's "NFL Monday Night Football."

NEP Supershooters, based in Pittsburgh, will dispatch its all-digital SS-25HD truck to capture all of the live action in the 720 HD format for the Monday night games. The mobile production unit includes a Grass Valley Kalypso HD video production Ccenter switcher, 20 LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam HD cameras, four Grass Valley LDK 6200 HD Super SloMo digital cameras, a Grass Valley Trinix 160x128 HD video router, and an assortment of Gecko and Kameleon signal conversion modules. The SS-25 HD can also use the LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam cameras to produce 1080i HD productions, and is equipped to produce multichannel audio in the Circle Surround format.

"We continue to choose Grass Valley equipment because we have faith in its reliability and because it offers the most flexibility of any technology in the industry," said George Hoover, senior vice president of engineering at NEP Broadcasting LLC. "There's no way we could produce the type of high-quality, multicamera HD production that ESPN requires without the Grass Valley systems on board the SS-25HD truck."

All four preseason and 17 regular season games will be broadcast in 720p. Each telecast will feature full surround sound and HD slo-mo images of the live action.   Print Page
