APTN Connect Links U.S. To Europe
APTN, the video arm of The Associated Press, is releasing a fiber network that will link Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Washington, D.C., London, Paris Brussels and Rome. More cities will be added to service during 2004. The service, APTN Connect, enables a two-way transmission path for high-resolution video and uses 6.5 MB of portable bandwidth, which can be expanded up to 34 MB. Broadcasters, advertisers and public relations agencies will be able to make ad-hoc bookings to feed video events to newsrooms or international clients. APTN Connect goes live in January.
