Syntax-Brillian Signs LCD Deal with LG.Philips LCD
3/22/2006

North American LCD set maker Syntax-Brillian entered into what the companies call a "strategic supply agreement" this week with LG.Philips LCD, which makes thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) TV monitors.

Under the agreement, LG.Philips said it will significantly expand its supply of large 16:9 LCD panels to Syntax-Brillian. Thus, both companies said, LG.Philips will acquire a steady demand base in the growing LCD TV panel market, while Syntax-Brillian will secure a stable supply of LCD panels.

The agreement includes the full line of LG.Philips panels: 20, 23, 32, 37, 42 and 47 inches (with the most panels to be made in the most popular group: 37 and 42 inches).

Syntax-Brillian uses the Olevia brand for its LCD sets. Olevia LCD flat-screen panels were first introduced to North American consumers less than two years ago. LG.Philips LCD, now believed to be the second largest LCD panel maker globally, is a joint venture between LG Electronics of South Korea and Koninklijke Philips Electronics of the Netherlands.   Print Page
