Satellite Update - Feb. 1, 2005
The DIRECTV Group has filed an amendment to its application to launch and operate the DIRECTV 11 satellite at 99.2 degrees West Longitude (WL). DIRECTV requested addition of the frequency bands between 18.3-18.365, 18.53-18.57, 18.735-18.9, 28.35-28.36, 28.525-28.6, 29.25-29.26 and 29.425-29.5 GHz. DIRECTV also asked that the same frequencies be added to its application for the DIRECTV 10 satellite at 102.8 degrees WL.
SES Americom asked for special temporary authority to locate the AMC-16 Ku/Ka-band hybrid satellite at the 97 degree WL orbital location and operate the Ka-band payload and Ku-band TT&C payload at the location for two months starting in early April 2005.

The FCC granted a modification of EchoStar LLC's request to modify its authorization SAT-LOA-20031215-00355 (Call Sign S2609) to allow EchoStar-121W-Kux at 121 degrees WL to operate in the 10.95 to 11.2 GHz space-to-Earth frequency band in addition to 11.45-11.7 GHz (space to Earth) and 13.75-14.0 (Earth-to-space) frequency bands.
The FCC allowed the Canadian Anik F2 satellite to access the U.S. market from the 111.1 degree WL location using Ka-band frequencies in the 18.3-18.8 GHz, 28.35-28.6 GHz, and 29.2-29.5 GHz frequency bands.
PanAmSat was granted special temporary authority to operate the Galaxy 12 satellite at the 125.05-degree WL position using C-band frequencies for a period of up to 180 days, commencing on January 23, 2005.

XM Radio was given permission to launch and operate two replacement satellites, XM-3 at 85 degrees WL and XM-4 at 115 degrees WL. These satellites will replace two existing satellites, XM-Roll and XM-Rock, that have been experiencing technical difficulties that will reduce their useful life. Once the new satellites are in service, XM-Roll and XM-Rock will serve as in-orbit spaces at 115 degrees WL. More detains are available in FCC International Bureau DA-Number 05-180
