The NAB Show features sessions and panels focusing on the upcoming transition to digital television.
Kicking off Monday morning is a town hall program, “The Buck Stops Here! DTV Transition Best Practices,” moderated by former FCC Chairman Richard Wiley and Association for Maximum Service Television President David Donovan. The session is a chance to interact with these and other leaders in the transition to digital broadcasting.
Co-hosted by NAB and MSTV, DTV experts are on hand to address the critical issues facing broadcast stations, including consumer education, tower work, equipment purchases, gaining FCC approvals, or coordination with cable and satellite companies.
At the end of the joint NAB-MSTV session, awards are being given to stations making significant strides in educating consumers about DTV.
An afternoon session Monday, “DTV Transition: Partnership Opportunities for Cable Operators and Broadcasters,” focuses on the vital relationship between broadcasters and cable operators during and after the DTV transition.
The session presents views from Raycom Media President and CEO Paul McTear, Time Warner Cable President and CEO Glenn Britt, Comcast Cable West Division President Brad Dusto, Advance/Newhouse Communications Chairman and CEO Robert Miron, and National Cable and Telecommunications Association President and CEO Kyle McSlarrow. Former FCC Chairman Richard Wiley moderate the discussion.
While at the NAB Show, look for the “DTV Trekker,” a 20-foot truck customized to look like an HDTV television. The “Trekker” is a part of the NAB’s road show that’s educating Americans across the country about the transition to DTV.
